"Pakistan trains Afghan soldiers: Enough to build trust?

According to "Pakistan trains Afghan soldiers: Enough to build trust?" on Deutsche Welle -- the scale of the Afghan tilt towards India can be understood by:

There are currently 300 Afghan cadets in India, receiving training from the Indian army. The Pakistani generals offered similar assistance to Afghanistan in the past to counter India's growing influence in Afghanistan, but former Afghan President Hamid Karzai declined, preferring New Delhi over Islamabad.

...

However, General Atiqullah Amarkhail, Afghanistan's former air force commander and a member of the Afghan government's advisory council on military issues, said, "It is a bad idea to send officers to Pakistan for military trainings," as this could upset India.

...

"If Pakistan and Afghanistan want to work together, there are other ways to do it. There is an anti-Indian sentiment among the Pakistani military and it comes up in the trainings. How useful can Afghan officers with anti-Indian sentiment be for our country?" said the former Afghan general.

...

Please understand that the Indians have been training ana for a while now. So has Pakistan.

Just have faith in the process, this is not a packet of Nescafé that all you need to do is "add water".

Things take time.

One thing is called "Quality" and other is "Quantity"
The 6 attending PMA will be Alphas, future leaders of Afghan Army, Indians can provide the training to left over Charlies...
:p:

You have to admire the Afghans: by throwing us Pakistanis a worthless bone we think the power balance is about to change in the region.

We conveniently forget that the Afghans who are born in Pakistan and have not known any other country hate Pakistan and Pakistanis.

Training 6 ANA will only produce 6 Pakistan hating Afghans.

If he had half a brain we would send these 6 and their 4 million brethren to India or back to their loy-Afghanistan.

oh its you again. NVM. you stay in US and dont worry about us Pakistanis :).

6 or just one doesnt matter.

I'm sure the Afghans will be wondering about those "Alphas" - not much use in a war but can mess up the country real good........those darn "charlies" seem a lot better.........:azn:

One more subject for an India Vs Pakistan !!

the opening poster has some hate for any improvement in Pak-Afghan relations so he never let go any chance to post such stupid assumptions

Indians are out of options and out of Plans so as their Puppets in Afghan Govt. Chinese are trying to enter Afghanistan and USA is completely cool with Chinese Presence in Afghanistan and that would give Pakistan a Huge leverage there and may lead Afghanistan out of Indian Influence Permanently. Perhaps now we should start talking to all sides in Afghanistan Pashtun, Tajik, Hazara or Uzbek and try to bring them closer to Pakistan because whatever Pashtun can offer Pakistan non Pashtuns can also Offer Pakistan the same thing. Infact its better to develop Contingency then leave things on one side like the way we did in 1990s by our Pashtun Centric Policies.

If Pashtun get rough and started Pashtunistan thing again then their counter is Non Pashtuns while if non Pashtun Started becoming Pakistan's Enemy then their Solution is Pashtun so time to play on both Sides and apply Pragmatic Approach in dealing with Afghanistan.

Whats the difference between you and them than? you also dislike them due to persona reasons n so on... but come on... PM Ghani is doing the best ..... he has done what karzai (turd) couldnt/wouldnt n didnt do in a decade...

ANA is now targetting ttp.... Afghan n Pak intel agencies are now sharing intelligence... for the first time sent their cadets (this is the initial batch as i mentioned before)...

Ghanis statements about writting a new "book" and forgetting the past .. his visits to the GHQ and Parliament.. our COAS and PM visiting Afghanistan etc...

A new era of good relations has started.. so lets not dwell in the past... but look forward to the future.

Let him know these cadets would when roll out passout have a sensible positive mind set regarding Military and Pakistan. What hindustan teaches to afghan cadets about Pakistan more than their career is more of atankwadi or something and hate thy neighbor.
