Pakistan vs Australia - T20 World Cup Semi Final

There is always something to learn

The lesson that I got from this match is that never trust a clown like Hasan Ali to win it for you

The quality of a Nation's Ikhlaaq can be experienced by knowing how they treat their weak. Hassan Ali didn't drop the catch deliberately and we all agree that it was a difficult catch and he tried his best. That is all we need to respect him. Successful or unsuccessful... he was putting his level best.

And rest assured, Hassan Ali will have more guilt at heart than we are trying to invoke in him. As a Nation, we should prove ourselves better than Indians did after losing their game. We will stand with our heroes regardless of the outcome. We will continue to support them at the time when they are broken within.

While they were winning, we needed them! When they have lost, they need us! It's time we show our National Ikhlaaq. It's time we prove we are one with our heroes no matter what.

Pakistan played 6 matches in the world cup

Hasan Ali had highest economy rate in 5 of them

His performance was poor during the whole tournament. He performed poor even against Scotland too

And worst. He was never serious to overcome that bad form. He was acting like a clown whole time hiding behind performances by Babar and Rizwan

There is nothing about "akhlaq" here. He acted like a clown and costed this nation this world cup. He should be called out for it instead of being defended or else he would continue to act like a clown and would cost Pakistan more world cups

Indians targeted a player because of his religion. We should target Hasan Ali for his dismal performance and non serious behavior. There is a difference

Don't be so emotional that you let go a clown without the criticism he deserves

Brother

He was unfortunately off the mark. His friendship and loyalty from Babar was extreme. He just bowled poorly and wasnt concentrating. Anyone that bowls 6 no balls during the competition must be questioned for his professionalism and discipline. Note we did have adequate replacements and they perhaps should have given others a chance maybe in the Scotland game.

Comparing our criticism with that of the death threats and raping of players children is a bit harsh. We could never stoop to that level but we surely have a right to a voice on a public forum voicing our disappointment in the selection.

Peace

Hassan Ali's catch was the easiest catch of the night, a dolly.

The most difficult catch being the one Haris Rauf took off the reverse sweep, ball swirled because it was a sweep shot and then dipped at the end too. Rauf took a blinder.

Followed by Asif Ali's catch, he tried to align nicely even then the ball swirled in the air and he had to also make slight adjustments at the end. Made it look easy in the end, but that was also a tough take.

My elder bro was at the stadium and said Hassan Ali was drinking water just before that catch. So probably wet hands but that was a dolly.

That said the team deserves a lot of appreciation. Played like champions. Can't ask more from them it's a sport, things like that happen. You do drop easiest catches and that is completely fine too. But saying that the catch was difficult is not true at all.

Question and interrogate - yes. Blame him for our loss - no.

Fakhar Zaman equally flopped until the last match. He too was trying as much as Hassan Ali was - but to his luck, he clicked in the last 30 minutes of the tournament.

Today we do not blame Shaheen Afridi for conceiving 4 sixes in his over. Why? We know he just had a bad moment. That's the right attitude and this is what we need towards our National squad. Like other players, Hassan was trying and as much, and possibly too much because he kept stepping over the line. I wouldn't describe his struggle as a lack of concentration but a lack of confidence. He was trying to get to his farm back but to his luck, he couldn't even until the last 30 minutes.

Maybe you'd drop him in the next series and help him recover - but do not blame him, please! Help him recover without breaking him. He too is a human who didn't want to lose or drop that catch. Support him in his hard time, that is what family does, that this what good friends do - and that is what a supportive Nation needs to exhibit.

Can't you get it?

Others had a bad moment. Fakhar delivered in the semi final. Asif Ali delivered against Afghanistan. Malik against Scotland. Hafeez against Scotland. Imad did good bowling

Hasan ali performed poorly through out the tournament. He never had a good moment in the world cup. And he never was serious to do anything about it

Is it a coincidence that out of 6 matches that Pakistan and out of 5 hasan had the highest economy rate??

What is wrong with you guys?

Is it be cause of Imran Khan that we have normalized mediocrity? Is mediocrity the new norm?

Ajeeb log ho yaar

Obviously he would be blamed for semi finals loss. He gave 44 runs in 4 overs. Gave free hits. And dropped a catch

Stop defending and normalizing mediocrity. We are already paying a huge price for it right now

Here's my analysis on the whole game, the semi-final only:

1. It was a bad toss to lose, bad luck there.

2. Pakistan was let off the hook by some abysmal fielding by the Australians where they dropped 5 catches and gave away 13 extra runs while bowling and many more through fielding; If not for all that, Pakistan may have scored a lot less than the 176.

3. a better innings by Fakhar could have relieved pressure on Rizwan and the end score could have been better but he continued to fail until probably the very end by which time pressure was already on all the other batters. Fakhar missed the entire 19th over in which we scored only 3 runs! and while we scored 33 runs in the last 3 overs as opposed to the required 45+, the Aussies scored 49 runs in their last 3 overs.

4. Asif Ali proved his worth once again; Malik's dismissal was another bad luck but he had to go after the bowling from the first ball.

5. Pakistan responded by better fielding, however, we also let the Aussies off the hook atleast 4 times by missing the stumps during direct throws. Also, there was no game plan for Warner whereas Aussies had perfect field placing for both Babar & Rizwan.

6. Hassan dropped the match when he dropped Wade and then luck smiled thrice on Wade as his 3 shots, any of which could have been a wicket, went for 6 runs each.

7. It was simply not meant to be for us :(

Captain Babr
  • 34 Runs off 30 Balls (6 Overs )
  • Dependence on Hasan Ali that he will eventually be a match winner unfortunately that bet did not paid off
Fakhar Zaman
  • Ate up 6 overs but gave you 52 runs which was ok but he also had a slow start

Australia
  • 18 Runs 3 balls (In death over 1 player)
Over cautious start perhaps did us in , looking back if Babr is given 6 overs he would easily score 60 runs in 30 balls

The difference was just in "Level of Aggression" with Bat
There was miscalculation , that Australia will not be able to slow the innings down as they did with Zapa

The Hasan Ali Catch was just 1 factor
  • 44 Runs Given in 4 overs is too much
  • Catch Dropped

In 1987 Pakistan had a Tremendous Team !!! Lead by Imran Khan we lost that match at home in Lahore
But look at the quality of the bowling and economy figures

  • We had two Spin Specialist in Abdul Qadir & Tauseef

The Quality of Bowling need to improve, Amir used to be a amazing closer in last 2 overs that ability unfortunately lost as his form has dipped and he is no longer in team (rightly)

However for that 18th over I am still shocked at the execution of scoop shot on Fast Bowling from Afridi that was unexpected , to turn a Yorker into a 6 , they read his 3 deliveries exceptionally well almost if someone had studied his bowling hobbits to figure out his pattern

WARNER WAS NOT OUT , umpire was deceived by appealers .otherwise australians were going to finish the match in 16 th over .

If we take your words why warner not use the review option if he did not touched the ball??? Pakistani bowler stopped him???replay was shown only when ball goes away from the bat. They never showed a full replay.

He was in contention to play from Australia side had he switched nationalities however playing Big Bash

Pakistan need to bring in Abdul Qadir's Son into National Team Mix
If he is good to rubbing shoulders with Austrlians should have played instead of Hafeez

Not just Hassan Ali.

Pakistan banks on Imad and Hafeez for a few tidy and economical overs but these two were crazy expensive today. The over Hafeez bowled was shockingly bad and looked as if he forgot how to bowl. He leaked 13 runs in an over with a poor 6nb on the first ball.

Hassan Ali has been struggling throughout the tournament and, I agree, he should have been benched a long time ago. It is easy to neglect poor form when you face-off Afghanistan, Namibia and Scotland—none of whom bowled as many no-balls as Hassan Ali—but quality oppositions lay those weaknesses bare. Faheem Ashraf was a far better option but he wasn't even selected for the world cup.

If it wasn't was Shadab, this game was done and dusted by 10th over when Australia needed some 89 runs from 60 balls with two wickets down. Shadab brought Pakistan back into the game with a brilliant performance. This is where Pakistan missed a trick. Australia clearly struggled against quality leg spin on UAE's slow tracks but Pakistan lacked more quality spin options. Neither Imad or Hafeez spin the ball much and consequently they weren't very effective against Australia.

Overall, poor team selection cost Pakistan the world cup but thank goodness the man from Pakistan Navy showed up for the game.

I agree but did you just said Faheem ashraf? lol. He was total failure with lots of chances under waqar because he is son of waqar and he loves his child hahaha. Parchi system is still there. Yes we need one more quality spinner and a fast bowler. Hafeez is experienced bowler. Giving him one over shows lack of trust. Aussies don't play spin well. Our captain is inexperienced.
