Pakistan will launch a two-seater version of JF-17 - Induction of JF-17B in 2017

... any word on the export sales ... esp. the rumoured latest contract to Nigeria ??

Rumours say deals will be concluded on the last day of Airshow. Let's wait for 30 May. Fingers crossed.

Hope this time these rumours become conformed news.

I think it is how Marrakech airshow management laid out its format. Any deals which may be signed or announced will be done on 30 May. This may or may not include any deal for Pakistan. There is almost zero chance of Morocco ordering JF-17s. This is our first appearance which will be preceded by a presentation to Moroccan officials. If we manage to stir interest in JFT, then will start lengthy negotiations. If negotiations are smooth and swift, it will take a year or so. Otherwise more. Negotiations may breakdown on any sticking point, disagreement or political pressure by third party. If we are lucky, we might see an announcement within a year.

What is more likely however is an official announcement of Nigerian order. Signing of a deal at an airshow adds to the prestige of the event. If we choose Marrakech airshow for signing of our deal, we are giving them something in return. Helping boost the image of MAS as place to be for business. A place where succeful deals are concluded. In short, it is the Nigerian officials we should be observing during MAS.

Nigerian deal is over due.

Moroccans have been interested for the past couple of years so they might be signing LOI.

Other deals are the conformation of Turkish Super Mushaq

This would increase the popularity of MAS

Oh Boy jF sales are classical case of we can do this and we can do that for you but i dont blame any one ,when you give specialist job of selling to Fighter pilots this is bound to happened ,Not developing dual seater was a mistake other wise more than few orders were secured already its not every one wants AESA so it`s not selling this is a classical case of
1.poor market survey
2.understanding the needs /wants
3.pick your segment
4.design your offering to cater the needs
5. position of your product

I can go all day on this bcas I do this for living (Ind selling is a highly niche segment and specialists are needed any ways .Way they are handling the things PAF/China will end up getting lot less orders then they should have

No mockup of the cockpit, no pictures of the design (except the badly made models on display). I wonder what rear console will be like.

There is a reason countries are showing extreme interest in JF-17 only after Block-2 and Dual seater JF-17 is confirmed by manufacturers. Despite concrete efforts from PAF since 2011 to sell JF-17 block-1. Nobody like to buy a toothless aircraft.

Absolutely.

The JF-17B can be marketed in a number of ways - depending on the customer. For example, PAC can pitch the JF-17B as an affordable LIFT to the GCC states, who are increasingly looking to tighten expenditure. Why spend $45mn on a T-50 or $60mn on a M-346 when the JF-17B could do the job well for less?

Countries such as Nigeria, Azerbaijan, etc, could see the JF-17 as an affordable multi-role fighter solution, and a genuine qualitative boost in their respective regions. The JF-17 Block-II is going to be as good if not better than what the likes of Armenia and Chad are fielding. Furthermore, the JF-17B can be marketed as a dual-use LIFT and OCU. In fact, JF-17B could even be marketed as as an affordable strike aircraft, and having PAC source LGB, PGB, AShM, etc as part of the package would help a lot as well.

Then there's JF-17 Block-III, which could attract Morocco, Jordan, etc, who are looking for platforms to introduce new qualitative capabilities, but without busting the budget. And again, we can market JF-17B to those Block-III users as dual-use LIFT and OCU.
