Protester hurls a shoe at Asif Zardari

BIRMINGHAM: A man threw two shoes towards President Asif Ali Zardari when the latter was delivering a speech at Pakistan People’s Party’s convention here on Saturday.

President Zardari was addressing a gathering of PPP workers at a conventio...n here when a man – apparently a PPP worker – stood up and threw something in direction of the President as he (the man) criticized the latter for the UK trip.

According to an eyewitness who was present at the convention said ‘the man threw two shoes one after another towards the President when he was giving speech.’ Security personnel present there sprung to action and took the man into custody and took him outside, the eyewitness added.

This led the President to stop his address and immediately leave the place in a security cordon in his car waiting for him outside.

President Zardari is presently in UK on a trip which was widely criticized due to his leaving the country at a time when people in Pakistan are facing unprecedented floods that has killed over 1000 people and displaced millions.

Maybe now he got the message.

That's what you get for being so insensitive to your population.

Will it have any effect on him? Hopefully. :D

Contrary to other incidents

Our Nation is VERY happy that our president had shoes thrown at him ...

Wonder if we can turn him around, and gave him a good ***** slapping on his tush !

well .....i got happy too:yahoo:...waiting for the video to come on the internet :coffee:

Throwing a shoe at George Bush, Manmohan Singh, Zardari etc is no big deal and require no guts as there is no long prison term and no other legal implication. However throwing a shoe at Gaddafi, Kim jong il or a Moron Shaikh can result in torture, life imprisonment and massacre of entire family. Not to mention what can happen if you shout at, let alone throw a shoe at Maulana Masood Azhar or Maulana Ahmed Ludhianvi.

Yep. No Iraqi ever dared to that to Saddam when he was alive. They knew the costs, not only to themselves but to all their relatives (and perhaps tribes).

Something that people tend to forget when they make heroes out of these fools. Their "bravery" only comes when they know that secular democracies can take this and move on and their behind will not be burned after these acts.

 its not a big deal neither require guts to throw it in a foreign land but i bet the terror of Zardari and the terror these political people unleash on common man here in Pakistan, i bet it does require alot of courage, guts to do so in Pakistan.

We remember how this democrap prez had shouted at a man during his public gathering asking him to shut up.

This man should thank his stars that he is not living in Pakistan because by now he would have been peeled alive by jiyalas

The rest of your post was off topic ;)

With all due respect Zardari is the Kim Jong Il of Pakistan. It has many implications and itself was a symbolic moment in our history I believe.

About criticisizing and throwing stuff at Maulanas...it is because of our culture that drills in our heads to respect every old guy with a long beard and be afraid of them or God will smite us. Let the youth show their potential to the country, get all the stereotypical social cliches and philosophical and moral restraints off the backs of the youth and I guarantee our new favourite sport will be Mullah hunting. We too are tired of seeing our brothers and sisters end up abused in a Madrassah and later found dead. The State can take care of orphans and the poor if we get rid of this Mullah mentality for sure.
