According to the United States geology reports.

There is at least $50 trillion worth of rare earth minerals in Pakistan

Pakistan neither has the technology, government nor organization skills to excavate these highly valuable minerals

These minerals are the 21st century version of oil nowadays because very few countries have them

There is more countries with oil than rare earth minerals

Right now, China exports 80% of the world's rare earth minerals

America produces little to none which means they're heavily dependent on China for this

Rare earth minerals are used in many of the latest technology that are being released

If Pakistan were to play their cards right. They should let American companies use their technology with labor from the locals to excavate the resources

America is a really smart idea because China and other lands will always demand for their money back or your land

America has the world reserve currency which means any dollars wasted are easily covered

People like China or Saudi Arabia will put the country into debt and they will demand every dime back with interest too or seize lands like they did with the port in Sri Lanka or some African countries

There should be a rare earth mineral contract with Pakistan by the United States similar to the Saudi petrodollar system

All people must convert their currencies to US dollars to buy Pakistani rare earth minerals

This will peg the Pakistani rupee right next to the US dollar in value

Then they can use American engineers and thousands of contractors to slowly build the whole country up

Basically the plan is simple

Let white people do all the work

Get rich and live like Saudis do

The rare earth minerals are useless to Pakistanis because our people and government neither have the organization or skilled labor or technology to use these rare earth minerals

If we let China do it, they'll just put the country in debt

Also Pakistan gets indirect support from NATO since America runs NATO and all the rich white countries are in NATO. They get full support too

Pakistan could be a first world resource rich nation like the Gulf lands are.

Please don't tell me the Pakistani government and people can excavate the resources themselves

Its been 70 years since Pakistan was made and the average per capita is $2000 ranking Pakistan next to sub saharan african nations in development

The only good part about Pakistan is that its way more hygienic than their neighbors however its still a really poor nation. I mean the average people are getting shorter too as the years go on.

With the kind of dung brained idiots that pass for leaders in Pakistan, 'allowing American companies to do xyz' is the best that their puny brains can think of. Obviously, when the Americans get involved, some traitor judge will get the wise idea of 'Judicial Activism' and there would be a repeat of Tethyan and Riko Dik.

I have absolutely no respect for 200 million fools who cannot benefit from the wealth right under their feet. Same on you Pakistan for your slave mentality.

Well first

We have to make sure that the first people to benefit from the wealth will be the Baloch or local people or else, get ready for a RAW paid Baloch movement in the region attacking American workers
However America is really serious about resources and the US military is enough for India to back up off any American contractors or engineers working on sites

We have to drop our egos and follow the Gulf Arab approach

The Arabs would be on camels and carpets if they refused the petrodollar system offer

Even most of the brains for the science department in Arab lands are outsiders

The average Pakistani leader has a 5th grade education in parliament

Jinnah was educated in Britain so he had some ideas of how western mindsets work

Pakistani leaders don't have brains or money to put those resources to any good use

Pakistan’s total mines and mineral reserves are estimated at over $50 trillion in situ value in 2019, including metallic, fuel, industrial minerals, gemstones, building stones, clays and other resources. Exports of mineral fuels, oils and distillation products accounted for $500 million in 2018.

In the recent past, the government lived in a fallacy after failure of copper-gold projects in Saindak and Reko Diq.

Authorities made bets throughout the lease timeframe to eventually fold in a showdown by handing over national assets to foreign entities. The key explanations for these failures included:

  • Inadequate legal and institutional framework (eg, absence of a comprehensive policy and governance structure)
  • Limited institutional capacity (eg, regulatory and monitoring body at the national level)
  • Sub-optimal research and development facilities (eg, no dedicated research institute)
  • Low availability of resources (eg, lack of skilled workforce, latest tools and technology)
  • Lack of necessary infrastructure (eg, electricity, roads, water)
  • High security risk (given remote locations of mines)

REMs deposits in Pakistan have been discovered in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (Koga, Tarbela, Jawar), Gilgit-Baltistan (Gilgit, Skardu), and Balochistan (Reko Diq, Chagai, Saindak).

Initial geochemical analysis showed that 12 out of 17 REMs had been found with varying potential. Still, the exact size is yet to be determined and required an in-depth exploration study. REMs are the most precious commodities today and Pakistan needs to place maximum bets on it to cash in on the opportunities. Realistically, Pakistan is not a manufacturing or a processing country, hence, it should earmark the commerce potential with both revenue from sales and barter trade.

Due to REMs strategic importance, an organisational setup should be put in place, under the prime minister, and in close collaboration with supporting arms of armed forces and Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission.

The entire exercise can be done in stages with exploration, extraction, ramp-up production and global marketing with mass production over a five-year timeline.

Experts should be freshly hired or may be brought from different government departments (Geological Survey of Pakistan, Survey of Pakistan, Khan Laboratories, etc), including geologists, radiometric surveyors, drilling/smelting specialists, and security experts.

The project financing should come from the national budget under the ambit of “special strategic projects”. The global REMs market is valued at $10 billion with an 8-10% CAGR and production of 170,000 tons per annum by 2022. If Pakistan secures 2-5% of this market share – with annual output of 3,500-8,500 tons, it can inject $1-2 billion per year into the national pocket over the next five to seven years.

This could change Pakistan’s international status as a high-value player at a high stakes table in the global arena.

Hi,

You think like a true overseas Pakistani, which I think you might be; conveniently bashing the 200 million people is a great pastime for many. Your comment is a rant about why Pakistan hasn't able to benefit from mineral wealth, and related it to slavery somehow.

You forget that the Rekodiq and Tethyan projects would have disproportionately benefited foreign corporations, in addition to the fact, that they were illegally allotted to those foreign companies because local Balochi politicians were to get billions in bribes. Furthermore, If you were to study theories on civil wars, you would realize that they mostly occur where there is abundance of 'primary' resources like minerals, oil etc. Central African nations are a great example of such civil wars, where multiple ethnic groups fight for a single region of a country, in order to have complete control of copper mines, for example.

If Balochistan were to start pumping out oil, gold and copper without proper, infrastructure, education and security, you would sure have something similar to Central Africa happening in Balochistan. Couple that with Indian intrusion, and you have a situation that could escalate to a full-blown civil war.

Pakistan is already struggling to provide the bare minimum wages, secure transport, and equipment to our soldiers in Balochistan and exFATA. And you want to start selling copper to the USA, so they can make it into wire, and sell it back to you at 13 times the cost? I think that would be the better definition of slavery.

Pakistan must wait for the right time to tap into natural resources.

IMO...the 'right time' is when we don't need them to import anything. Rather, the 'right time' is when we have the industrial capacity to make things using those resources. We shouldn't rely on exporting the raw material alone; rather, we should export the finished good with a surcharge for our R&D and additional contracts for after-sale services like maintenance and upgrades. Even without exporting any natural resources our leaders orchestrated an import-heavy culture. God knows how much worse we would be if we were exporting natural resources (Dutch Disease in no time).

Nothing new in here.
Both Pakistan and China are aware of all these resources.
The questions are relatively simple.
Is this project feasible?
Are these the type of rare earth they needed?

You must be kidding

Its been 70 years already and there is still electricity and normal infrastructure issues in Pakistan in which the government cannot solve

Even Bahria Towns are mediocre infrastructures and R&D infrastrucutre will eat up any leftover budget Pakistan has

They just went to the IMF for $300 million

The Pakistani government has less money than individuals in many countries

No way your plan is possible right now

Only American funding would get those materials out

What sort of Indian analysis is this? If Pakistan doesn't have the capability to mine these resources then it better damn achieve the capability.

The average Pakistani doesn't even have basic amenities like food, water and shelter in many cases

Even the US government has to pour billions of dollars just to get the Arizona rare earth mineral plant rolling right

America has 1 rare earth mineral site in Arizona somewhere and its costly to keep it running

However due to the reserve currency strength of the dollar. They're able to print more money and send inflation into other lands

Pakistan would economically collapse to do it by itself

The Pakistani government has less money than 5 rich corporation owners in America.

Even Floyd Mayweather a boxer has more money than most Pakistani town budgets.

I dislike ZAB, but the statement "we'll eat grass or go hungry" is apt here.

We can spell out the entire process of how Pakistan can go from where it is now to the scenario I painted.

I can pull in the engineers reading this very forum as well as a wide professional network. We could do all the planning and ideation, but it'll result in zero when we have corrupt leaders and, worse, people who've totally given up on their own innate ability to do great things.

If this is how we as a whole genuinely think, then we deserve defeat, humiliation and everything else. I just don't want any part in it, because those aren't my people, not anymore. If there are Pakistanis who want to win, who have some killer instinct left, they're always welcome to join 'us'.

You are correct. Rare-earth mining is environmentally destructive with low profit margins. The only thing rare about it is the number companies who want to do it. What purpose does it serve to wreak such havoc to receive a $1 only to be sold a product later for $14.

Sorry but per capita is $1193. https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/NY.GDP.PCAP.CD

As far as hygiene is concerned then do check the official data. In case you need held searching then do inform me.
