This is their greatest folly. They fight imaginary bogey men instead of the real terrorists and extremists who are raping the country. Ofcourse, any call to approach the davies case with a rational mind is immediately thwarted.

im sorry they raped you so many times, im sorry tin head

Sir, anytime you can stop resorting to personal attacks to make your case, you are more than welcome.

well well well...............
reality is ramond davis is terrorist and needs to be punished under terrorism act.
lets justice to be applied for every one and let shut the mouth of terrorists who may, if he is released, justify themselves.

by punishing him we can justify that we will punish anyone who is going to terrorize our nation by any mean.
because if he is acquitted then surely this act is gona be a boost of religious and anti american and extremists,s logic that we are slave of america and following unislamic laws.

in coming days u will see a lot of bombings on the streets and drone strikes in revenge by the big cia

The thing is, giving the raymond davis case much too hype than it deserves is highly detrmental to pakistani foreign relations. I am not going to talk about the ethics or morality behind it without waiting for the whole story to come out. Pakistan as a nation cannot afford to be isolated at this particular juncture. You "really" need the few precious allies you can get.

Woh man, GOP Its millitery is commited to Americas fking WOT , they are with America , But if some phsycopath mercanary hired on CIA's payroll could act that stupit and kill innocent civillians out of cold blood in broad daylight, this cant be allowed to happen. That azzhole needs to be hanged and made an exmple out of it.
I fail to understand where did Pakistan's establishment went wrong or against American interests in all this. Certinly Americas interest is to improve its public image in Pakistan, and make sure Pakistan is commited to root out terror, hanging davis dosent justifies Pakistan's inability to cooperate in americas long term interests. However the zeal with which the USgov is backing for the release of a muderor in light of manufactured lies speaks out volumes of duplicity and deceit of american engagement with Pakistan , not just Pakistan but Pakistanis on the whole ....!!!

U.S. officials: Raymond Davis, accused in Pakistan shootings, worked for CIA

The American who fatally shot two men in Pakistan last month and who has been described publicly as a diplomat is a security contractor for the CIA who was part of a secret agency team operating out of a safe house in Lahore, U.S. officials said.

The contractor, Raymond A. Davis, 36, has been detained in a Pakistani jail since his arrest. He has said he opened fire on two Pakistani men at a traffic signal in Lahore after they attempted to rob him.

The disclosure compounds an already combustible stand-off between the United States and Pakistan at a time of growing distrust between them and complicates U.S. efforts to win Davis's release.

President Obama and other senior administration officials have repeatedly described Davis as a diplomat who was assigned to the U.S. consulate in Lahore, and said he is entitled to immunity from prosecution in Pakistan.

But in fact Davis has spent much of the past two years working as part of a group of covert CIA operatives, whose mission appears to have centered on conducting surveillance of militant groups in large cities including Lahore.

At the time of his arrest, Davis was based at a house with five other CIA contractors as well as an agency employee, a U.S. official said, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter.

The official said the impact of the disclosure that Davis is a CIA employee "will be serious." "I think it's going to make it a hell of a lot harder to get him out," said the official. "I think ISI knows what this guy is, but I think this is just going to inflame the Pakistanis."

The ISI is the acronym for Pakistan's powerful spy service, the Inter-Services Intelligence directorate.

The Washington Post learned of Davis's CIA affiliation after his arrest, but agreed not to publish the information at the request of senior U.S. intelligence officials, who cited concern for Davis's safety if his true employment status were disclosed.

Those officials withdrew the request not to publish on Monday after other news organizations identified Davis as a CIA employee, and after U.S. officials made a final attempt to prevail upon Pakistan's government to release Davis or move him to a safer facility.

U.S. officials reiterated their concern for Davis on Monday, and provided new details on the conditions at the jail where he is being held. One U.S. official said Davis had been moved to a separate section of the facility where the guards' guns had been taken away "for fear that one of them may kill him." The official added that the jail holds about 4,000 inmates, and that three detainees have previously been killed by guards."The local police are allowing angry protesters very near the prison," the official said. He added that jail authorities were using dogs to taste or smell the food given to Davis "to make sure it doesn't contain poison."

But even while shedding new light on the circumstances of his detention, U.S. officials continued to provide scant information about his assignment. A former member of the U.S. Army Special Forces, Davis was hired as a contract employee of the CIA's Global Response Staff, a unit that is responsible for providing security for agency employees and facilities in other countries.

Current and former U.S. officials said that Davis had previously been employed by the sprawling security firm once known as Blackwater. A spokeswoman for the company, now known as Xe Services, did not respond to a request for comment.

U.S. officials said that at the time of the shooting, Davis was doing what CIA employees refer to as "area familiarization," meaning basic surveillance designed to familiarize operatives with their surroundings.

The work would help to explain a collection of items found in Davis's possession when he was arrested, including a camera, a small telescope, a first-aid kit, flashlights, and a Glock semi-automatic pistol.

The description of his activity is at odds with early accounts by U.S. officials who had indicated he was not on a particular assignment when the shooting occurred, and was attacked in his vehicle after withdrawing money from an automated teller machine
.

Davis has testified that he was approached by two Pakistani men on a motorcycle, and that they brandished a weapon in an apparent attempt to rob him

The official said the impact of the disclosure that Davis is a CIA employee "will be serious." "I think it's going to make it a hell of a lot harder to get him out," said the official. "I think ISI knows what this guy is, but I think this is just going to inflame the Pakistanis."

from: US urges release, safety of Davis | Latest-News | DAWN.COM

WASHINGTON: The United States called Monday for Pakistan to free an American arrested for killing two men and to ensure his safety in custody after revelations he worked for the CIA.

US officials declined public comment on accounts that Raymond Davis worked for the Central Intelligence agency and insisted he enjoyed diplomatic immunity because Pakistan had accepted his status when he entered.

“We remain concerned about him and our message to Pakistan remains he should be released as soon as possible,” State Department spokesman Philip Crowley told reporters on a conference call.

Crowley said Pakistan has told the United States that Davis is staying “in the safest possible location in Lahore,” the eastern city where he shot dead two Pakistani men on January 27.

“Clearly, we hold the government of Pakistan fully responsible for his safety,” Crowley said.

The New York Times on Monday reported that Davis was part of a CIA operation tracking Islamic extremists in eastern Pakistan such as Lashkar-e-Taiba, the virulently anti-Indian group involved in the bloody 2008 siege of Mumbai.

The New York Times said it withheld the information after President Barack Obama’s administration said it would endanger Davis’ safety, but decided to release the details after other media reported the CIA link.
