The Chinese collapse

Na dude, he's basically cherry picking all negative news out of China to support his biased opinions.

Your right about that. What I meant was he’s not laying out that China has the capacity to correct the problems it’s facing, like any other country would.

He is also playing up the American exceptionalism angle to gain viewers. That’s his grift.

The raw data though is there, and the problems China is facing are real. So even though his interpretation should be taken with a grain of salt, reviewing the data on its merits still holds water. For this Ray Dalio is a better analyst on China, IMHO. He’s got skin in the game as a hedge fund manager. Check out his company
, Bridgewater’s views on China. It’s still bullish, that growth will continue.

Still the old Chinese collapse talks? Did you finish your schoolings in Finland? I thought Finland's schools are better than the United States'. I guess I'm so wrong.

Why do you think so? Study in Finland dose not need money, so every fool can study there

We have good education system so people are less likely to believe BS coming from authoritarian countries. I remember earlier when Chinese members claimed that in China people elect leaders and therefore Xi isn't a dictator.... okay.

It's like when China claims everything is OK in Xinjiang, but doesn't allow foreign journalist travel around the province without a minder or limitations, and educated person would ask "why" instead of seeking answer from Chinese state medias propaganda films. "Why this happens" is always a good question.

Of course I know you guys cannot give real answers because it could have negative effects on your life outside the internet.

Actually you don't, and you guys are being brainwashed willingly and readily.

Chinese students better at spotting fake news – Pisa

Students in East Asia are better at distinguishing a fact from an opinion than UK students, the latest Programme for International Student Assessment results show

Students in East Asia, including parts of China, can differentiate between facts and opinions better than students in the UK, according to the latest findings from the Programme for International Student Assessment (Pisa).

The reading test in Pisa includes an assessment of the ability to tell whether a source is credible, to recognise bias and identify authors’ intentions.

The ability to differentiate between fact and opinion is considered to be at level 5 or above on Pisa’s six levels of reading proficiency.

On average across all countries, 7.4 per cent of 15 year olds achieve a level five, and 1.3 per cent get up to level six – the UK is slightly above that, with 9.5 per cent at level 5 and 3 per cent at level 6.

But in the four provinces of China Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang (B-S-J-Z), which topped every single ranking in Pisa, 22 per cent of students read at level five or above, and 4.2 per cent are at level six.

For Singapore, the percentage of top performers is triple that of OECD average – 26 per cent of students achieved a level five or above, with 7.3 per cent reaching level six.

Referring to high-performing countries in Asia and East Asia, Pisa coordinator Andreas Schleicher said: “The capacity of students in those regions to deal with ambiguous, complex information, to think creatively about solutions, to navigate fake news is actually a lot better than in the case of the UK.

“Those countries are now developing very sophisticated skill sets among their young people, that involve complex problem solving skills, creative skills, critical thinking skills".

However, on average, only around 8.7 per cent of students across the OECD countries were at level 5 or above, meaning that less than one student in every 10 was skilled at distinguishing fact from opinion.

Joint general secretary of the NEU teaching union Kevin Courtney singled out the finding as a reason for concern and added that reading should be fostered as a habit for life.

He said: “The finding that globally fewer than 1 in 10 students was able to distinguish between fact and opinion is extremely worrying in an era of fake news.

“As the OECD points out, reading is no longer mainly about extracting information; it is about constructing knowledge, thinking critically and making well-founded judgements.

"We need to ensure that our education system focuses on developing these skills in our young people, not simply on cramming them with facts."

For the first time in 2018, the reading test was carried out in most countries with a computer-based, adaptive test.

The new assessment was developed in response to criticisms that the tests are “one-size fits all”.

China’s Schoolchildren Are Now the Smartest in the World
By William Horobin

Chinese students far out-stripped peers in every other country in a survey of reading, math and science ability, underscoring a reserve of future economic strength and the struggle of advanced economies to keep up.

The OECD’s triennial study of 15 year-old students across the world found that the four Chinese provinces tested -- Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang -- outperformed in science and mathematics, even if household income is well below members’ average. In reading, the 10% most disadvantaged Chinese students tested had better skills than the OECD average.

“The quality of their schools today will feed into the strength of their economies tomorrow,” OECD Secretary General Angel Gurria said.

A League of Their Own

The PISA study of 600,000 students in 79 countries shines a light on the difficultly of improving education, sometimes irrespective of the resources that are dedicated to it. That appears to be particularly problematic for OECD countries that have increased spending on primary and secondary students by more than 15% in the past decade.

“It is disappointing that most OECD countries saw virtually no improvement in the performance of their students since PISA was first conducted in 2000,” Gurria said.

The report also highlights disparities in educational achievement depending on socio-economic background. In some countries, even where government spending on education is high, the background of a student still plays a significant role in their educational outcomes.

Overcoming Obstacles
Socio-economic background plays a greater role in reading achievement in some countries

On average, 12% of the variation in student reading performance within each country was associated with socio-economic status. In several European countries, including France and Germany, that measure rises above 17%.

China makes a lot of money from Israel every day. China controls Israeli ports. China participates in Israel's infrastructure construction.

If China collapses. Israel will be "massively cleansed" by hydrogen bombs earlier.

He is a good comrade. Without him, China wouldnt enter world trade organization and steal every western countries lunch... USA would have sanction China on semi-con as early as 1999.
Now US wants to sanction China in high tech, it too late. Shall have sanction 15 years ago. All thanks to Gordon Chang for continue deceiving US governments and give hope to white racists like @Broccoli

LOL... Believe what you want, or what you've been told to believe or what you're being paid 50 cents to believe. I have no comments on people who can't reason independently.

There are lot of Westerners + Chinese origin settled in West going anti- China rhetoric. But surprisingly China comes out on Top every time. There is this YT channel China uncensored by Chris Chappell, every video he makes is filled with propaganda+ western rhetorical analysis nothing else.

China Uncensored is a Falun Gong channel. Falun Gong is funded by US government

The most popular media funded by the US government (outside the official US national media VOA) to color revolutionalize China are Falun Gong and Epoch Times. Both are run by Mainlanders and some Taiwanese. ET is so well funded that it 'forcibly' send its papers to almost every Chinese-American household, place stacks of its papers in front of supermarkets, etc. Imagine that. If Chinese government responded by funding and distributing anti-American propaganda like what the US government has been doing, what will the US say?
