The Difference Between Muslims and Sikhs.. Misses the Point

He was an Army Veteran, do you think he couldn't tell the difference between Muslims and Sikhs? He checked out the place multiple times while planning his attack.

there is no evidence that the shooter wanted to kill muslims. he was a white supremacist. sikhs are brown, not white so they perfectly fit in his hate agenda. yet every sikh on the news keeps on trying to distinguish themselves from Muslims.

And here is the enterance to the sikh temple. it clearly states what type of house of worhip this is. Not anywhere does it say Muslim.

Exactly.

The killer was an Army Veteran, who checked the place out several times, and planned the attack very carefully.

There was no way he could have thought they were Muslims. And even if he did, he would have immediately realized his mistake after looking at the entrance of the building. After all, he did visit numerous times while planning the attack.

The point is, Neo-Nazis see all non-whites as the problem. They couldn't care less about such distinctions.

He saw the temple sign very clearly. He KNEW what a Mosque is/looks like and what it is for AND he knew he was not in a Mosque when he went on his rampage. Yet sikhs to T.V. decided to seize this moment to go on Muslim bashing spree while thinking everybody loves them.

Nobody knows his motive not even the FBI but SOMEHOW the sikhs right away knew the shooter wasn't after them but rather the Muslims.

Wade Michael Page killed self in Sikh temple shooting, motives unknown, FBI says

You are exaggerating. Your comments seem to suggest that Sikhs have an anti-Muslim agenda and and are now trying to take advantage of this calamity by mounting an anti-Muslim attack. While some victims and Sikh community leaders in the media have sought to differentiate themselves from Muslims, its unfair to say all have toed the same line of argument.

There are many others who have come on TV and talked of the peaceful and good aspects of the religion and its followers in the US, which is the right thing to do. But you have clearly chosen to disregard it.

I seriously don't believe this incident to be a case of "mistaken identity", I know Sikhs are resting their case on this but it is simply unfounded and naive at this point. The shooter was an army veteran he also had a job in the army which required him to deal with relations with foreign people. Not only did he scope out the area several times and saw it was a Sikh temple people living in the area were also aware it is a Sikh temple.

So what reason for the attack? The shooter apparently is a violent white supremacist and there were Sikhs in the community and they were targeted, he most likely knew who he was targeting. Sikhs can yell at the top of their lungs "we're not Muslims" won't make a difference because there are also many here who hate Sikhs, the long beards and the turbans are something alien to the American public and in some places not welcomed.

Devil is in the beard .shave it before it shaves you ..kid.n

Very true sir..since 9/11, attacks on sikhs have drastically increased in the US. So its not unusual for some of them, thinking at the heat of the moment, that the attack was meant to be against muslims. But does this represent the view of entire sikh community? No. Even the media initially thought it was a aftermath of 9/11. it is sad to see,how senior members here find it so easy to create an aura of animosity, where this was the best time to show benevolence towards the afflicted.

No body wants to associate with muslims. Sikh's are miss understood of being muslims. they are making it clear.
Whats wrong in it..

so true, sikhs and hindus are integral part on US society, delusion is good thing
But i hope the end result of this incident is good for Sikh community because they look more muslim than the best muslim

and the turban

It's not just that, it's their physical appearance, both physical features and most notoriously the turbans. You won't believe how many people stare at Sikhs with an awkward glare when they see the turbans. Of course not all mind it or consider it awkward but for many here it is an alien/foreign garment.

Right there. Sikhs(sick) were clearly conveying messages to domestic skin head terrorists to attack Muslims by enforcing the world wide bigoted idea that Muslims are not peaceful. Sikhs sick mentality has been exposed to Muslims world wide.

This should be wake up call for Muslims, especially Pakistani because Pakistan government in the past were too damn generous to host these Sikhs(sick) pilgrims in Punjab. I know I may be overgeneralizing Sikh community but so be it. This how I feel about these lunatics now.

Zakir, You are a Coward........Sikhs are not sick but you are!!! may be mentally retarded.....whats the problem to you if Sikhs are telling or teaching the Americans that we are not 'Muslims'. You give Jehadi lectures on PDF that Americans are bad and Jehad is fair in Afghanistan against American kafirs...now when you start feeling the heat at home you (Al Zakir) running around like mouse and looking for Sikhs to hide!!!! Muslims like you are at war with America not Sikhs, so why we continue getting killed due to mis-identity. We are teaching the world that we are not muslims.....whats wrong in it....we are not calling Americans to kill muslims, we are just saying we are not muslims....'What you sow, you should reap" as simple as that.

You are showing cowardice, because now American start bringing the heat to your safe hate preaching heaven/house in America. You want to hide behind Sikhs?????????? Now tell Americans that they are targeting wrong people and a true Jehadi....Al Jakir is here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is nothing wrong with Sikhs saying they are not Muslims. Where the wrong comes in is the fact that they are bringing up Muslims when the killer's motive was not even apparent and all we know is he was a white supremacist. It is foolish to assume he would've just turned around and went home if he knew they were Sikh.
We are just kidding ourselves if we do not admit that Muslims are the logical targets of attack for racists after 9/11. Hard truth but logical. The gut reaction of every guy who read the news and knows what Sikhism is - 'Wtf!! they are not even muslims'. Don't pretend that you did not feel the same.

You are saying this now after you know some facts. But just given the facts that there was an attack on a Sikh temple in USA, what would be the conclusion? Mistaken identity. Plain and simple. Given the average American familiarity with cultures , the profiling of muslims after 9/11 and the common mistake of 'turban means muslim', what else would you conclude?

The killer was a NEO-NAZI.

To those guys, all non-white people are the problem.

He was an Army Veteran, do you think he couldn't tell the difference between Muslims and Sikhs? He checked out the place multiple times while planning his attack.

The point is he didn't care.

maybe the aussies while racst attacking indians also knew they were muslims because muslims are dark as indians

Pretty much this, though I should add that he'd probably be just as willing to shoot up a synagogue as well.

I feel I should also mention he exited by way of dishonorable discharge.
