If true, then this is a major escalation. I think Turkey should use its influence to get a fair deal for Palestinians; the rest will fall in place.
PS. I am posting this to the 'World Forum' because of regional, if not global consequences.

Report: Turkey navy to escort aid ships to Palestinians in Gaza - Haaretz Daily Newspaper | Israel News

The Turkish navy will significantly strengthen its presence in the eastern Mediterranean Sea as one of the steps the Turkish government has decided to take following the release of the UN Palmer report on the 2010 Gaza flotilla, Turkish officials told the Hurriyet Daily News.

"The eastern Mediterranean will no longer be a place where Israeli naval forces can freely exercise their bullying practices against civilian vessels," a Turkish official was quoted as saying.

As part of the plan, the Turkish navy will increase its patrols in the eastern Mediterranean and pursue "a more aggressive strategy".

According to the report, Turkish naval vessels will accompany civilian ships carrying aid to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

Another goal of the plan is to ensure free navigation in the region between Cyprus and Israel. The region includes areas where Israel and Cyprus cooperate in drilling for oil and gas.

Additionally, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan instructed his foreign ministry to organize a trip for him to the Gaza Strip in the near future.

"We are looking for the best timing for the visit,” a Turkish official was quoted as saying. “Our primary purpose is to draw the world’s attention to what is going on in Gaza and to push the international community to end the unfair embargo imposed by Israel.”

good going turkey :) Isreal only understands force and turkey is gonna administer it

Aid ships should not be blocked at any cost.

Yes, but the Rafah Crossing is now supposed to be open?
As much as I despise the NUTT-UN-YAHOO government I don't think Turkey should escalate the situation. The crux of the problem is Israeli occupation and humiliation of Palestinians and Turkey and other countries should work toward an aggressive but peaceful way to make Israel change its neo-colonial policies.

Wars are begun with quickening of heart-beats but end in pain and suffering.

If true, this will be a major escalation. Israel is also preparing itself. A conflict even of minuscule scale will be very unfortunate for the region.

True and I think Turkey should NOT escalate by involving its Navy. There will be a blood-bath in the region even if one Turkish soldier is killed while sailing to Gaza. What will that achieve? Israel will continue to occupy Palestinians, continue to illegally expand its borders by building 'Settlements', and the regional economy will take a big hit.

Here we go again, since 2010 this news item roaming around the net, almost no action has been taken.

This is the right time for India to step in and play like a major global player. Israel and Arab are very good friend of India and credibility of India is very good. Nobody would mind we India step in. India should play a positive role and we simply can't ignore the sufferings of Palestine's people.

Good.
But the Indians on this Forum demonstrate something otherwise: Full embrace of Israel. Even when there was a universal condemnation of Israel following the Flotilla Raid of 2010 Indians over-whelmingly supported Israel here. A few of them did not but a vast mojority did and continue to do so.
The days of India's soft-corner for Palestinians are long gone.

Ah the naivete. First of all, India has no power over the issue. Many countries have tried and failed. Second, what makes you think anyone wants to "alleviate" the suffering of Palestinian people? This issue is nothing more than a tool to harass Jews (I mean Zionists). Keep dreaming about resolution to this problem. No one wants one, least of all Muslims.

It is not like that sir. On forum people behave to intimidate others you know why. Most of the Indians and almost all the political parties in India are having soft corner for Palestine. Our leaders are too shy to take the center stage, but I fell that it is the right time for India to step in make her stand clear and help to resolve the issue. India holds very good relation with ME countries.

First flotilla was condemned by UN. It was not providing any aid.

Whatever, but we can't deny the facts that Palestinians are suffering and Hamas is the result of that suffering.
