Turkish Peace Operations in Syria (Operation Olive Branch) Updates & Discussions

Turkey had enough from this shit. Hundreds of soldiers fell martyred in the border towns because of your support for PKK/YPG. Very high trained terrorists had been transfered from Syria to Turkey for attacks. We are talking about the same terrorists who your special forces trained and gave all the support and weapons. How much agents from your countries have been captured in Turkeys east region? Your agents provided tactical support for this killers. I dont understand what are we doing in NATO with all this countries in it waiting every right moment to strike Turkey with their biggest power. Just allie with Russia and the east and make them suffer. Russia is not the best friend Turkey can have but it will be 100 times better and Russia is not so arrogant and will not strike in the back like that never.

Ruslar Turkmenleri oldurup ypgye silah vermiyormuydu birkac ay once? Veriyordu.

Bizim amacimiz kendi kendimize yeterli olmamiz lazim, bunun icin ne lazim, Gelismis Sanayi ve ekonomi. Gelismis sanayi icinde savunma sanayi cok onemli.

Can the FSA control/hold on to all those areas if the Kurds vacate against ISIS? DO THEY EVEN HAVE ENOUGH FIGHTES TO DO THAT AGAINST ISIS ONSLAUGHT?
Will Turkey be willing to station troops in all these areas deep inside Syria and engage in combat in the long term to keep all these regions under FSA control?
Answer unfortunately is NO.
TURKEY DOESNT wants to be engaged in a long term struggle in Syria/bogged down in Syria.
So only viable solution for us is to support any group on the ground who is capable of taking on ISIS and holding their ground over this vast area/landmass
Say what you want, but the US' intentions on the ground speaks for itself. The US and some major west European countries support(ed) the fsa, but as time passed by it has become more clear that their support for the ypg is far more serious. While the fsa gets some ammunition, weapons and training, the ypg gets the same plus far more US air support, gets to have US advisors on the ground, US special forces accompanying them, gets far more positive media attention (while neglecting a lot of negative realities on the ground) in Western media and also are allowed to open offices in the West. It is CRYSTAL CLEAR that the US props up the ypg to the point that, had Turkey not intervened, the ypg will connect their territory and guess who will line up first to accept such a pkk territory under the disguise of 'Kurdistan'?

There are 3+ million Syrian refugees in Turkey. If our govt actually consider the plan of training 5000 - 10.000 volunteer fsa fighters, especially the ones from the region where the Turkish operation is taking place, out of these refugees it would be great. It's late, but should still be doable.

The same American faces we see on TV are getting a whooping from one of their own US senator.

HAHAHAHAHAH!

Liwa Al-Tahrir, Hazm movement, Jabhat Tuwar Syria and Jabhat Al-Haq just announced that they joined Operation Euphrates Shield. I dont know if this was posted before but 4 rebel factions within the SDF just defected to the Turkish side and have already captured several YPG positions. It was just a matter of time before the racists policies caught up to the Syrian Kurds.

Those groups are rather small compared to the other Arab groups in SDF, hopefully this will induce a domino effect.. Lets wait and see :)

I know but come on this is just hilarious. This was something even keyboard warriors like us could see from miles away. The fact that the SDF/YPG stopped marching south into Raqqa the ISIS capital(litteraly a couple miles away) but instead attempted to link the Afrin Kurdish canton showed that the YPG never cared about the interests of its non-Kurdish fighters and people, only for their Rojava fantasy. For a group that was supposedly created to fight ISIS they sure dont try at it.

FSA received almost everything/support we gave/give the Kurds, but they still performed poorly against ISIS compared to the Kurds who just needed some support and logistics to take on ISIS. Reason we also started supporting the Kurds instead of just the FSA. we still support and train both only that the so-called FSA still performs poorly when we let them lead the front lines. So we have o choice than to support the best alternative/group against ISIS I.e the Kurds.
THERE ARE NO GOOD/EASY CHOICES IN THIS CONFLICT/REGION. WE CAN ONLY CHOOSE THE LESSER OF TWO EVILS , which in the case for much of the world is the Kurds . :)

Moreover, I don't understand this apprehension you people have in this. Afterall, even Iran has its own Kurdish issue/rebel group, but I don't see them being so woke up against the Kurds in Syria, the are rightly focused on fighting ISIS , FSA , Al nusra and other rebel groups and virtually ignore the kurds. Why you people don't follow their example? :)

Lets be honest, US only give Air support to FSA when IS attack them. But if we look at Kobane or Ayn Al-Arab offensives of PKK, USAF used more than 2 thousand tonnes of bombs to support PKK.

Meanwhile FSA fought against two side, east of Azaz (ISIS) and west of Azaz (PKK), and RuAF gave airsupport to PKK in Azaz pocket and bombed shit out of FSA :)

Saying that FSA and PKK were equally supported is just BS :)

They don't seem to be performing poorly at the moment. Why? Maybe they didn't receive the right amount of support from the West because the West had already already put its lot in with Kurds based on God knows what sort of deals. Or maybe they weren't really given a chance until now.

How well would the Kurds do or pro-Govt forces do without Western & Russian air support respectively?

As for Iran, first and foremost, the issue is Sectarian not ethnic. Assad is Iran's mate, the PYD was/is on good terms with Assad, so by extension, why wouldn't Iran be good with Syrian Kurds?

There is a reason why that Iranians posting on various forums were barking, along with Westerners, that Erdogan was trying to create a Sunni Caliphate. Iran doesn't want Sunni dominance in the area hence Pan-Kurdish actions are secondary.

For one, we provided the FSA with military aid, training , logistics way before we did with the Kurds. But they still performed poorly. They are doing better now simply because you people are the ones leading from the frontlines and you are closer/share a close border where the operations and battle is taking place . We could have done that as well, but how do you think we will justify entering YET AGAIN ANOTHER WAR TO OUR PUBLIC WHO IS AGAINST ANYMORE FOREIGN INTERVENTION? Our public has little tolerance for even the support/training/advise role and limited combat role our special forces/air force and military are involved in the region much less fighting/leading another war from the frontlines. Turkey doesn't share that Iraq war burden we carry so it's esier for you people to intervene and fight there openly which your public supports overwhelminly.
As for we not providing enough support to the FSA, REALLY?? we have been providing them support from the very beginning.

For the first time Images obtained by the BBC seem to show British special forces patrolling near a rebel army base close to the Syria-Iraq border. Elite British troops have been crossing into Syria from Jordan to fight in the front lines in the battle against Islamic State Photograph: BBC News

We train, advice and supply them aid in many other fields. And we can fight alongside side them at times

So , the fact that sometimes they can't keep up the pace without our forces leading from the frontlines is not our fault but theirs.

As for Iran, I think they don't care much about Syria's Kurds, just Iranian Kurds , since try don't have much to do with Syrian Kurds.

Ummm, these were my points. Calm down with CAPS. Your beloved Kurds would be 1/100 what you claim without Air Support. That was shown at Kobani. It wasn't that the FSA was ineffective, maybe low in numbers but it was more that they weren't the right "type" in the eyes of your mob to be given control. In fact, the FSA had too close a relationship with Erdogan for you and your Pals across the Atlantic to live with... Hence, Kurdistan was promised... Again.

Why is that funny? They are playing politics and joining the winning side.

They were SDF when they were winning, now they'll join FSA, tomorrow they'll be fighting for USA.

Lol :D If this progress keeps going, It is going to be SDF=PKK, and no more excuse to defend PKK against Turkish Armed Forces. Afrin, Ayn Al-Arab, Manbij, Tal-Abyad will be liberated by FSA from Fascist PKK scum one by one :D
