What's new

Typhoon, Rafale no match for China’s J-20

the irony is F18 growler needs electronic jamming pods which rafale's spectra along with it's RBE 2 AESA radar can do it,rafale doesnt need external jamming pod

Yes mate, Also there are some upcoming upgrades for SPECTRA. but i do not find it suitable to post technical details on a Public forum.

Offtopic - I read your rafale Wiki! very informative for defence enthusiast's....

Rafale was no doubt Good aircraft. But it is very Old now. First flight flew in 1986 and introduced to the world in 2000.
25 year Old airframe and Old history While J20 is new platform and 5th generation.
You can't compare Old man with the Young....
Sorry but this is truth !!

Genius! by This Logic f22 is also old....

Rafale has an on board jammer for self protection, its not the same as the Growler. The EA-18G Growler is an electronic attack aircraft - big difference. The EA-18G is capable of stand-off and escort jamming and suppression of enemy air defense network, the Rafale is NOT an electronic attack fighter.

very Idiotic manipulation you have done.

The design of airframe is a different thing and composition of the frame is a different. Rafale uses the composites which have been developed after 2 decades of research. They will not use the same steel. lol

If you are talking about the design of the air frame then, no one can beat the 40 years old Mig 21.

Wrong! Nobody Compared Rafale with F/A 18G, Nobody Said Rafale is a Electronic Attack Fighter

Rafale is Also Capable Of Performing SEAD/DEAD (Not stand-Off, according to info available to public domain) . but the main difference is Rafale is Omnirole with good payload Rely On RADAR, Passive Sensors , SPECTRA to Avoid , Detect & Destroy enemy Assets. on other hand Growler is a electronic Attack bird for jamming and escorting.

LOL, we have Indians here desperately arguing for the merits of a Western plane vs. a Chinese plane.

But wait a second... what about Indian planes?

I'm sure the Westerners appreciate the Indians arguing for them (in between using their credit ratings agencies to downgrade India)... but why not have some Indians arguing for their own planes for once?

Yes of course its a comparison btw western planes and chinese one.. Who said otherwise my dear CD?
Last time i saw, moody didnt change ratings? Which western source to believe? We have a problem of aplenty!!
But sadly mate, u have to believe only what ur govt tels... :)

no``no``sir
J-20 is designed to 'challenge' IAF's Mig-21s``just like god made indians to entertain human beings

By F#$king Chinese :yahoo:
Obviously I was referring to the thread itself.

Indians desperately trying to argue on behalf of Western planes vs. Chinese planes. But where are the Indian planes? :D

Don't worry Indian planes when they enter service they will be far superior than an untested Chinese Planes.
I Still don't understand why they are using Euro canards on a stealth plane which is a huge disavantage (high RCS)
Chinese are always dumb and idiotic when they argue.
May be J20 is a stealth plane which is designed for close quarter dog fights with its Euro canards.

What do you think, J-20 design was done 0n 2010 and first flight in 2011? Modern jets take time to get into production line. Same is the case for Typhoon, started on the line with Rafale. F-22 started early 90s and inducted in 21st century. Still we yet to see whether J-20 or PAKFA can match its capabilities.

Rafale is going to be ours . It doesnt matter whether planes is indigenous are if it is capable . You wont understand that . Please open separate thread for Tejas II vs J10B , we shall argue there , not here .

I'm sorry, but am I missing something here? Did the IAF say they wanted the MMRCA to "match" the J-20 a (supposed) 5th gen VLO a/c? Or did they simply state they wanted a multi role advanced a/c to replace ageing platforms in their fleet? Apples and oranges- a fairer test would ne J-20 vs PAK-FA/FGFA/AMCA, comparing a 4.5++ gen fighter to something that it was never intended to compete against is highly unfair. Having said that, I think the T3/4 version of the (and Super MKIs of course) the IF is getting could be quite a headache to J-20s in need be.

Also as the J-20's exact specifications are unknown how can one possibly speculate to this degree, we don't even know of the J-20 will ever enter service or is merely a TD to follow on Chinese 5th gen fighters as many have speculated. And I would find it hard to believe whether right out of the box, after having very little experience, the Chinese can match expertise of Dassualt/EADS who have decades upon decades more experience than the Chinese in the aerospace game and despite all the intellectual property thefts the Chinses are going to find it hard to get to tis standard in a hurry.

So Tejas II vs J20 would be apt as both will be new platforms right ? :hitwall::hitwall::hitwall:

The whole thread is silly...................
We are comparing 4+ gen fighters with a fifth gen fighter, with different roles............Not to mention one of the fighters isn't even in production yet!!!:disagree:
DROP IT GUYS!!

I don't understand, why this article started comparing the proven fighter planes with the unproven(Still developing/fascinating) fighter plane:pop:.

yup this is strnge if j20 is unproven then how can u match jf 17 with lca tejas
jf 17 working horse of paf agnst lca tejas just a prototype

YOUR argument is Invalid
Even JF17 is not proven yet, How many crashed ? :coffee:

I named J-20 "The Drag Queen" in my dictionary :P
