ABU DHABI — Tawazun Holding has tied up with Turkey’s Roketsan to supply the UAE Armed Forces with the laser-guided Cirit missile systems.
On the second day of the International Defence Exhibition 2013, the GHQ of the UAE Armed Forces had mandated Tawazun to supply the systems and to contribute to the country’s vision for technology transfer and industrial cooperation.

Tawazun and Roketsan have defined a plan for development and co-production of the systems in the UAE. They will also work together to complete its full integration into the UAE armed forces’ missile systems.

In another development, Tawazun has entered into an agreement with Italy-based Selex ES. The partnership is a supply deal with Italian Finmeccanica, Selex ES, which delivers electronic and information technologies for defence systems, aerospace, data, infrastructures, land security and protection, and sustainable ‘smart’ solutions.

TPI will manufacture various components related to Selex ES’s RF Seekers, a fundamental component in the MBDA IT Marte/Otomat missile family.

The contract between Selex ES and TPI is supported by MBDA, and is considered to be the first step towards further collaboration in the future.

By manufacturing complex machined parts for Selex ES’s SM-1S and ST-2S seekers, TPI will acquire specific expertise in RF seeker production that will pave the way for further joint business opportunities in both the UAE and abroad.

In the near future, the deal will allow the two companies to consider extending their collaboration to any future evolutions of the Marte seeker family.

This is the first time in its history that, for this particular technology, the Italian company has outsourced its manufacturing.

Muatasem Awda, chief executive officer of Tawazun Precision Industries, said: “TPI has always reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the ongoing capability-building and know-how transfer to the local UAE workforce in order to enable them to develop products and work procedures that adhere to the highest international standards.”

TPI was awarded the contract as a result of its production line qualification, the capabilities of its production operators and its rigorous quality control processes, all of which are of international best practice and standards.

Meanwhile, Caracal Light Ammunition (CLA), signed a supply agreement with US-based firm Century Arms which will see them enter a partnership for the next five years.

Under the agreement, CLA will supply Century Arms two million rounds of two different types of its ammunition each month for the first year. From the second year onwards, the UAE-based firm will produce four million rounds of each type per month.

The new deal will see Century Arms introduce the CLA products to the US market, with a focus on the armed forces and the police sector.

You probably need to review your info, GCC, Jordan and Egypt operate variety of weapons from different sources, I don't know to whom you are referring to?

These kind of laser guided missile just have one problem and the problem is that the seeker is in front of the missile and it searches for IR or Laser signature mark , and this increase the laser jamming's chance .

it was better to use a system like kornet in which the seeker is behind the rocket and correct its path to the target by calculating its precession from laser beam.
