Strikes in North Waziristan? We have drone strikes almost every day, so that obviously is not the issue.

Again, jingoism aside, the US has very limited options in terms of offensives in Pakistan that will not destroy cooperation with Pakistan, destabilize it and in essence create a bigger terrorist threat and subsequently require a longer and larger US presence in the region, which is exactly what the US wants to avoid at this point in time.

Very well said, I agree with you here 100%, very relevant for the present, but the problem is of the deteriorating atmosphere in Pakistan. The weak political establishment and the influence of extreme elements on the society. To bring stability there might eventually be a broader world cooperation

If your reference is to some sort of united world effort in Pakistan akin to Iraq and Afghanistan, the only way that will be a feasible option, and something voters in the US even, leave alone Europe, will support is if the Pakistani State or some of its institutions directly support terrorism in the West as a matter of policy.

Since that is not the case now, and has not been the case in the past, the conditions to warrant a 'global effort in Pakistan' are extremely unlikely to exist.

However, a populist coup by religious extremists, akin to what happened in Iran, might result in a government that is openly hostile to the West, but even that is extremely unlikely at this point. And if matters get to a boiling point in terms of the PPP led government and an imminent 'religious coup', the military will likely step in to release pressure.

lik AM said, wat will they attack? militants in NW? arent they already doin that with drone attacks? and if u think they ll come and take away Osama bin ladin whom ISI is protecting, well if they knew the location of OBL they would have already done that. similar with with other top Al Qaeda leadership.

again if they think they ll send small special op teams in NW and clear the whole area... well they r most welcome to do that. y should we send thousands of troop if US can do it with less than 50? but if my tiny brain can remember something, US has been tryin to gain an upper hand (forget full control) in afghanistan since 2004.

after all this i conclude that US will do this only to show their public that they have done something. thats it. and its the same mentality which brought them to afghanistan and now they cant think of a way to get out. furthermore dont rule out the possibility of more pakistanis (living abroad) being pushed towards extremism.

if u want a more messy world, well u r most welcome to attack.

First thing is if they attack Pakistan they dont have a clear objective. the leadership is already in there favor. they cant bomb everything that moves. there is no aims or goals. you cant bomb the entire mob of 1000 people on the road with 1 terrorist in them.
