Why are we so backward?

I am glad you asked me this question. Here are some key differences between an average Israeli and a Pakistani.

a) An Israeli leaves his religion outside the science classroom, a Pakistani does not.

b) An Israeli is obsessed with the JEWISH community. NOT RELIGION, but COMMUNITY. We Pakistanis are obsessed with both RELIGION and COMMUNITY. The key difference is this, an average Israeli does not give a hoot about his religion being disproved. He is not disturbed in a class where the theory of evolution is taught.

c) No one can convert to Judaism, so there is no question of preaching or proselytizing. We Pakistanis indulge in active proselytizing and outward display of religion.

That's the difference.

I agree with this another major difference israeli literacy rate is extremely high while pakistan it's 50% they have much better education too israeli school life expectancy is among the highest in the world many of them go onto higher education while pakistan it's very few.
Look at a comparison of their economies the israeli population is only around 6 million around 1/30th pakistan's population size but they export TWICE as much as and have a GDP nearly the same.It makes you think imagine if we worked as hard as them......

but gets utterly disturbed when someone says anything against holocaust, anyways the point is its the religion which holds the jewish community!!!

2nd as per theory of evolution, one thing its a theory not a fact, second many people who aint muslim dont believe in it as well, 3rd in the previous posts someone gave you an ayah out of Quran. kindly go through it once again!!!

People in south Asia are very emotional about religion.... and also the case of south Asia is totally different from west here in Pakistan we never had madrassas controlling our foreign policies, we never had mosques controlling our economy, we never had bureaucracy controlled by madrassas and mosques so where you want to separate religion from state???
The only thing where religion comes is when it comes to representation of nation....... so its a democratic decision even if you make a referendunm throughout country you'll find out that maximum population will support this clause........

I don't know why people always want a west like progress in pakistan we don't want to follow rules which are toatally alien for our society.... we want to implement our own rules which are acceptable in our society even if they look odd to westerens..

Yes, they dont like and actually they hate it. But there is a big difference, if somebody make a cartoon of Prophet Mohammad(pbuh) in Denmark or elsewhere, we muslims go crazy like morons and kill EACH OTHER on the streets of islamabad, kabul, lahore etc, but if Ahmadinejad denies holocaust, the jews dont kill each other in Tel Aviv. we are not only emotional, but stupid too.

This is the reason why we are lagging behind

nice point raised :) appreciated!!!! but jews can do enough damage "indirectly" that they dont want to indulge in the "word wars" sadly we are only capable of that!!!!

well said, what about the east pakistan blunder?? and the politics of 1950's era... zia did make mistakes no doubt but he should be appreciated on the things he did right!!!!

Religion is the biggest issue. Period.

It won't be solved anytime soon. Will take 30-40 years at least.

Islam is one religion that can not be modernized. This is where the problem arises. People are not ready to amend the religion. They are not ready to evolve it. Unless religions start evolving, there is no hope for any improvement.

Sikhism is also one such religion. We today are on the verge of breaking it just because we are not ready to let it evolve.

We need to work it out somehow.

it's true thats a major part of it but also you have to admit israel's development is due partly also to hard work of the jews .They implemented world's most advanced irrigation and farming methods to turn israel from a desert to a rich agricultural land, they made the scientific and technological advancements ,they made the exports and industries and built the infrastructure.Lets give credit where it's due and lets not forget a major reason for U.S backing is lots of jewish americans in high positions in government, media, business etc working for israeli interests and this is from their own hard work you can't blame the west for that.
Egypt also gets plenty of financial backing from america but is nowhere near as developed or technologically advanced as israel.

As we all agree, there are number of things why the 3rd world countries are 3rd world. illteracey, emotional, religion etc. but one thing for sure have a decisive impact and that is Mullah's power. demolish their power and their dominance over the minds of the public, trust me alot of things will be solved.

Zia brought in a new era of death and destruction, he opened madrassa's, brought in nonsensical laws (Rape became a form of adultery), and left many people poor and homeless (poverty bomb).

And this was the man who fought against the soviet invasion in Afghanistan, not cunning islamist Zia.

Pakistan already had its own version of Kemal Ataturk, but he passed away a year after the nation was born. His name was Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Besides in some of his speeches he wanted an Islamic way of running the country like his last speech he made he said he wanted Islamic banking for Pakistan so he was not totally secular like Ataturk was.

Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah did not want a total secular country like Turkey. Please be realistic. Turkey bans hijab in every government institution even colleges and universities. That can never happen in a country like Pakistan. There'll be protests and anger all across Pakistan and Quaid-e-Azam knew that Pakistan cant be total secular like the west.

I agree and also disagree with you.

You know who would have been perfect for pak ?
Jinnah.

Not Jinnah as a brooding old man, helpless against the creeping dark forces led by the Feudal-islamist entities in pak in the 1950s, but Jinnah as a hot blooded young man in his 20s, who was scared of none and was ready to trample over anybody who wanted to corrupt the core ideals of his concept of Pakistan. That would have been perfect.

In contrast Turkey was not built through deals with the devil like old Jinnah was forced to.

When Kemal Ataturk and his band of young generals spear headed the secular revolution in the rundown, corrupt and fundamentalist ottoman edifice, they didn't break it brick by brick but rather brought down the whole structure with the single minded intent of a enraged young man.

The whole world was left in awe of what they achieved so much so that the phrase "young turks" entered the lexicon.

That was the Jinnah pak needed in 1947.
