Why US invest $ 1.2 billion, the largest expense in history to build a new embassy in Vietnam?

It’s probably gonna function as a “trip wire”, like the force in West Berlin during the Cold War. any attack by China in Vietnam, putting at risk the foreign forces there, will trigger a response.

Vietnam probably requested this and the US obliged because it fit the interests of both nations.
It is not in Vietnam's interests to host foreign troops, much less US troops.

that’s why Vietnam isn’t building a foreign military base only a large diplomatic outpost of a friendly nation :)

Soviets were angels compared to US
But China begged help from US in 1978 to attack and made Soviet collapse.
That's what you want, isn't it?
Not going to humor you further.

Either ways, let's see if this is confirmed or not. If it is, CPV is a bunch of idiots.
We have been fighting against CN for thousand years if u forget, what is big deal if CN try to attack VN again ?? U think CN can defeat VN wt their human wave attack ??
because it will double as a marine base?
If US do something good to VN (help VN to unify sub Mekong region like Soviet), then they are welcome.

The next civil war in Vietnam is only a matter of time.

I'd bet my a** the first thing you do when chinese invades is booking a flight to the US.
Seen many loudmouths like you, all talk.

No nation needs an embassy of this size regardless the population back and forth. This is practically a military base guised as a civilian infrastructure.

Currently, the largest US embassy in the world is located in the Iraqi capital Baghdad.

Indeed self explanatory, US wants to turn Vietnam into Iraq. Don't forget what US left for Vietnam the last time they were there.

Perhaps the US needs such a vast amount of land for their new embassy to ensure they have enough helipads for helicopters to land in case they need to hastily evacuate again..?? 😅

Well, US cuts its embassy staff in HK, so they need to have a new facility to accommodate their China- centric intelligence personnel near Chinese border. But why a Viet is so excited?

We may have a secret deal with US against CN, but we promise to CN that we won't make an alliance with US, so the military base must look like the embassy to make CN happy .

WHy u r so worry abt american troops in Vietnam ?? They are just losers in VN war
You don't care about the red-faced warmongers raping your woman and abusing locals,or did ya'll get too used to such and doesn't care? Life is cheap it seems for your kind based on that.
