No 16 Squadron was reactivated in 1971 and served as Flight Leaders School. During the 1971 war, its personnel and assets were redeployed with various fighter units where they won laurels for the nation. The Sqn was re-equipped with A-5 III in 1983 and positioned at PAF Base, Rafiqui.

A-5C Fantan Ground Attack Aircraft.

Pakistan Air Force was one of the largest operators of A-5C entered the arsenal of the 7th, 16th and 26th squadrons, but in 2011 they were withdrawn from the arsenal.

A-5c Was Derived From Soviet MiG-19 By Chinese Aviation Industry While F-6 (J-6 For PLAAF) Is Sino Built MiG-19 Farmer.
