Ready to buy Russian oil at same rate India is purchasing: Ishaq Dar

I do not have a set agenda per se. But I find it amusing to question lop sided propaganda from PTI supporters here. This is why I critique their views.

I've already said that PDM will face the same difficulties as PTI if they want to purchase Russian oil. By openly stating that Pakistan is ready for Russian oil purchase, PDM has bulldozed PTI's propaganda that Americans dictate terms to Pakistan on PDM's watch. This is the most important clarification that I would like you to take.

You dont have an agenda but you also have a hobby of ‘questioning propaganda from PTI supporters’ LoL.

But oil from Russia was a fiction, so why not comeup with the same stance for Ishaq Dar - that he is peddling a fiction, that they themselves (and you) have called fiction in the past.

If mere words bulldoze things than one side has been raising slogans of ‘Kashmir banay ga Pakistan’ and other of ‘Alhand Bharat’.
Thanks for the clarification anyway.

As time has passed, it has become manifestly clear that cheap Russian oil was not propaganda by PTI. It was a real deal and a real offer on the table similar to what India was availing itself of.

There still would have been a subsidy but a much smaller and more manageable one. The detail of the deals are similar to what was being negotiated with Bangladesh too and what India has- oil at roughly 70$.

Unf, operation regime change succeeded.

Haven't I always maintained that ALL of them lie to the people. ALL. Of. Them.
You have jinaab. I was just asking someone to stay consistent with his views on cheap Russian oil, but he already clarified that he is here to counter ‘propaganda of PTI supporters’ and support the view that ‘PTI admin was not necessarily superior’. So it makes sense now.

Propaganda cannot be countered with more propaganda. Only truth matters. :D

Hi,

Russians have planned crude oil export to Pakistan, in order to achieve their 8% oil export growth plans.

Russian oil export to grow by 8% annually in 2022 — Novak

The country will redirect oil supplies not merely to Asian countries but also to Africa and Latin America, the official said

MOSCOW, October 14. /TASS/. Russia’s export of crude oil grow will grow by 8% in annual terms in 2022, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said at the Russian Energy Week forum.

"We expect this year, if speaking about the oil sector, production volumes to be even higher against the last year, a minor yet increase. Exports will be approximately 8% high. Our oil companies managed to refocus on other markets, managed to establish new logistical chains and find new mechanisms of payments and transition, including to settlements in national currencies. In other words, we see a stable situation here to support the domestic market and export sales," the official said.

Russian oil export contracted by 3.2% to 225.1 mln tonnes in 2021, according to earlier statistics.

The country will redirect oil supplies not merely to Asian countries but also to Africa and Latin America, the official said.

"In terms of refocusing, our greater portion will be directed to the Asia-Pacific Region, to India, Pakistan and other countries in this direction. In particular, to Africa and Latin America also, that is, to those requiring our energy resources," Novak said.

It is great in theory. Pakistan imports 55 million metric tons of petroleum. How is Pakistan going to pay for it ? You are already buying hydrocarbons on deferred terms from Saudis

We will only have TAP not TAPI.

No Business with India untill Indian Occupied Kashmir joins Pakistan.
That's not what Shahbaz's abu and chief colonial sepoy Mir Bajwa said, he already offered unconditional peace to India.

Lol and people here were saying pakistani refineries can't handle russian oil.

BTW Russia have never denied to do business but how will dar plan to pay the russians, through Chinese? Does IMF have given the nod?

I don't understand where you have found my views to be contradictory. I maintain that Mr. Dar has the same level of commitment as that of PTI administration with regard to Russian oil. So if PTI is fake, then it follows that Mr. Dar is also playing the same game to deny PTI supporters their empty claim that PTI will guarantee more sovereignty to Pakistan than PDM. Neither PTI nor PDM have/had any offers from Russia on oil purchase at profitable terms as of now. :coffee:

Hi,

Russian Deputy PM, must have considered any payment clearance issues, before including Pakistan in their export growth calculus. This seems quite plausible that Russians do believe Pakistan has the ability and means to pay for its energy demands.

  • Ishaq Dar hopes West would have no objection.
  • Says 10 months enough for govt to restore political prestige.
  • Optimistic on Pakistan's exit from FATF grey list.
WASHINGTON: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has shown an indication to buy Russian oil but on the condition that it provides the important commodity at the same rate that it is giving it to India, reported The News.

While replying to a question in Washington, Dar hoped that the West would have no objection to the import of Russian oil at a discounted rate due to Pakistan’s financial hardship triggered by the recent catastrophic floods.

On the length of the incumbent government, the finance minister said that the coalition government in the Centre have enough time to return to the political front.

“10 months are enough for the government to restore its political prestige and win popularity. We were to select one thing among the two: either to save our politics or the state. We opted for the second,” he said while commenting on the by-polls results.

To a question about US President Biden’s statement on Pakistan’s nuclear programme, he said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had already said that a robust command and control system was in place in the country. The US authorities also acknowledge it often, he added.

On the recent Financial Action Task Force’s (FATF) recent meeting, Dar is optimistic that Pakistan would get out of the watchdog’s grey list. A meeting is expected in a few days and the government is hopeful that the country would come out of the FATF grey list, he said.

The finance minister was in Washington on a four-day visit where he met IMF, World Bank officials and others.
While selling weapons to Ukraine???... Who is this Dalit trying to fool .. oh, sorry... Patwaris.... Good job sir!

I also maintain that any $ saved from unlikely Russian oil will not be sufficient to cover subsidies on fuel.

Hi,

Can you please expand on it?

1. Have you considered Pakistan's product imports and the impact of even a modest 10% discount on them will have? Would that not be sufficient to cover for fuel subsidies?

2. What will be the effect of discounted products (Fuel Oil) on power generation and subsequent Fuel Charges Adjustment that the end consumer have to pay?

3. Will that not help Pakistan reduce import bills and curtail precious USD outflow, and the effective exchange rate?

By openly stating that Pakistan is ready for Russian oil purchase, PDM has bulldozed PTI's propaganda that Americans dictate terms to Pakistan on PDM's watch.

This is simpleton view. To effectively bulldoze PTI's narrative, they will first have to physically buy, until then, they are simply reinforcing PTI's narrative of PDM being US lapdogs, who cannot take sovereign decisions without prior approval of US. The whole independence/ sovereignty narrative that PTI has been able to derive, which appeals and resonates with Pakistan's social psyche, gets further cemented with statements like these.

"While replying to a question in Washington, Dar hoped that the West would have no objection to the import of Russian oil at a discounted rate due to Pakistan’s financial hardship triggered by the recent catastrophic floods."

Hold on to your buttocks for just a minute.

What happened to all the resident oil and gas experts such as Fools Nightmare, Umar Saif, those shill PML twitter accounts, jo oonchay oonchay naray martay thay that we cannot use Russian oil?

Which technological advancement came in the past 4 months that now we can use Russian oil?

Hi,

They have all reverted to Nepal.

Russian oil (from ESPO to Urals) is available in open trading at 13 to 28% discount to Brent (FOB), wondering what other discount is he looking for? Regardless of crude oil imports, the icing for Pakistan will be discounted product (FO, Naphtha, Gas Oil, Gasoline, Diesel and to some extent even LPG) imports, where we can save heavily, and provide quick relief to masses and our overall strained economy. This seems to not have been part of most discussions on the forum.

In the current fiscal till Aug, India has bought crude oil worth $11B+ from Russia.
Indian oil cos. have invested $16B+ in Russia.
