West vs East Pakistan - Separation debate on economical stand

If you don't mind me saying this ,,,,,,, WHITE Raj destroyed it systematically …….. But From Bangalis we (West Pakistanis) Take all the blame.

?

What did the whites have to do with it? The main super-refinement, after the first raw processing was finished, was done at Dundee, and that industrial centre was ruined due to the partition of resources from processing plants.

I don't think that the Bengalis of Pakistan are blaming you for the failure of the jute industry. Instead they are saying that their province was systematically neglected during the quarter-century, that the money available was spent massively in the west, and very little in the east, and that there was a systematic bias against the east.

Nobody has mentioned that the vast military expenditure was almost entirely spent in the west.

The fact that there was a vast military expenditure is perplexing; there was no reason for a state of muted war to come about. The fact that it was spent on the martial races beloved of the British is self-explanatory; Pakistan has always babied its Army, at the cost of stalling development. And in this stalling of development, East Bengal, that chose to become East Pakistan, suffered.

No one is justifying it...You asked, derailed the thread and we told!

I guess @waz was right you cant keep positivism in BD threads!

You want to talk about economics? Yes it was screwed up but not as bad as you want it to be!

By debating and talking about it day and night, you achieve zilch! CONGRATULATIONS you have derailed the thread with your negative energy! Now you may leave as you stated 3-5 pages ago!

@BHarwana I am going to close this thread, BD does not want to see even a drop of nice...they need Pakistan to be the enemy to justify their need to be independent! I cant understand why cant they be independent and happy just like how they want!

Do it point proven thread is sticky and info has been posted all done.

The point that we looted east has been proven the data and development is all here. They were getting the money.

They were getting less than they deserved considering their population and considering the lesser development of that province. It was not a binary choice between 0 and 100%; it was a choice between fluctuating attention paid to the two sides, and the results of that fluctuation showed up in the abysmal poverty of the east. There was nothing comparable in the west.

Dear, Sir, East side also had zero. And you can see just after partition Eastern side was a bit poorer than western side. But after 20 years it became way more poorer. Please explain this.

Is this not discrimination?
Why cant you blame declining JUT industries ………… Why cant you blame your land mass , , , , Your local Politicians ……. Can you check how many politicians of East Pakistan become billionaire before 71 ??? Your local industrialist of that time …….. Your local Landlord elite of that time...………. Why you blame every thing on west part which have 4 Provinces and AJK and GB and FATA...…

I have posted the resource division check it again.

Don't live in denial.

Population growth was roughly same...it was a bit higher in East Pakistan. But nowhere near that high to justify such inequility.

East Pakistan produced less than Punjab?

Today Bangladesh's industrial output is 20% higher than all of Pakistan. What was holding it back from 47-71?

And based on what logic money were being allocated among provinces?
@Moonlight ur thoughts?

This is a development thread @Joe Shearer there are other evidence which are political to prove other wise. Pakistan was giving Bangladesh more than they were producing. In ayub era they got a lot and before that they them selves were PM and president of whole Pakistan.

If you want to express this as your opinion, that is all right.

If you want to express this as a fact, that may be problematic.

Sir G poster Mage gave data which show 30% of total spent on East Part ……. And sir G east part was 1 province …. I can agree there population was bigger in number , but sir west was poorer and have 4 full Provinces and 3 other areas (AJK , GB and FATA).
And I hated East defence from West logic from bottom of my heart ………..

I really appreciate the calm and measured tone in which you have taken forward your point of view. I will come back to this in a bit.

My dear friend Bangladesh is densely populated and distance between 2 cities is very less. In west Pakistan just to connect Islamabad with Karachi you need 20x more resources than to connect Dhaka with chittagong. You sneeze on one side of Bangladesh and by the time you look up country ends.
