JF-17 Block-3 -- Updates, News & Discussion

well i guess weight balance can be managed by counterweight or relocating the fuel tank or other gadgets. Cant we also increase the structural strength by composites and other measures???
Hence my point while remaining within the confines of the current physical boundaries of thunder can we fold the landing gear in the wings?

What you are suggesting seems like a new fighter aircraft with same parts. Doable but Doesn't seems enough valuable to do it.

I dont think it wud be a new aircraft... But if its doable then we can get much needed space for probably two extra fuel tanks(even 500 to 600 litres per tank would go a long way with naval role specially and free up one to two hard points), obog unit etc.
Its only possible provided the current structure has enough space to allow folding of landing gear side ways + we increase the percentage of composite materials in block 3 and the much awaited block 3 comes from the beginning or later with rd93ma.

Development of dual seater was part of block 2 contract and nothing to do with block 3 contract
Block 3 may have dual seaters but focused on avionics, some structural changes and time will tell new weapons capabilities

Pakistan Air Chief Mujahid Anwar Khan has said that production of Block III variant of JF-17 Thunder fighter jet is expected to begin this year, Radio Pakistan reported.

In an interview with a weekly magazine Jane’s Defense, the air chief said a new Chinese radar will be used in these aircraft.
He said Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) is set to deliver final three JF-17 Thunder Block II multi-role combat aircraft to Pakistan Air Force (PAF) by next month.

It is worth mentioning that the top-notch professionalism of PAF has been the talk of the town lately, as it shot down two fighter jets of Indian Air Force (IAF) bright day light on February 27 over violation of the Line of Control (LoC).
One IAF jet crashed inside Azad and Jammu Kashmir region while other in India occupied Kashmir.

Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan named the PAF’s response against Indian aggression as ‘Operation Swift Retort’.

“February 27’s ‘Operation Swift Retort’ will always be remembered,” said the PAF air chief while addressing participants of 264th Air Staff Presentation at Air Headquarters in Islamabad in May.

He vowed that the PAF response will be even stronger than before in case of any genre of aggressive showed by the enemy.

Correction: At 4:05 Image Shown instead of PL-15 is MBDA Meteor which is for Representation Purpose.

Can we please only post hard facts and not again any random fan-made advertisement video packed full of old images and fan-made artworks? :hitwall:

Thanks for the feedback Sir,

As far as the facts are concerned these are valid (for Example Radar, Weapons & Timeline) as being mentioned in AFM & later quoted by Jane's as well. Meanwhile I have mentioned expected Upgrades. Moreover as far as images are concerned there are no Block3 related images available, so one has to use some images available to give an idea to audience.

i am not expecting any frame changes in JF-17 block 3, though more composite materials would be use in it to improve the thrust to weight ratio, upgraded avionics with additional hard point ... so lets keep our expectation to a realistic level to avoid any disappointment towards its appearance
