Islamic economic system

The prophet (ﷺ) said;

لا یدخل الجنۃ صاحب المکس

“The one who collect tax will not enter into paradise”[Ahmed, Abu Dawood, Al-Hakim]

And said;

وان صاحب المکس فی النار

“The one who collect tax is in hell fire”[Ahmed]

You can collect tax from non muslims right?

tax is for government expenses, while Zakat is collected for poor. and Jaziya is for protecting and wellfare of the non muslim community. I hope that explains the differnece.

Thanks, do the jizia payers have to pay other kind of tax on top of jizia or is it a one payment?

as far as my understanding is concern, NO...if they are to pay Jaziya it includes protection and welfare. there is a case in my mind that I cant recall in which Caliph Omar excluded the non muslims from any extra tax since they were paying Jaziya, I am a bit confused due to 1 Ummah's quoting of Hadith... although I can recall many a cases when Tax was collected other than of mentioned ones(zakat, usher) but I will confirm that maybe its part is missing...

If their lives are threatened , they can pay Jizya to stay in an Islamic country and have protection. Like a bail !

So basically the state will ask me to cough up money to protect me. How's it different from a 'don' asking me for protection money?

And what if I can't pay the money?

@ 1 UMMah, the narations of PBUH is for interest not for tax, correct me if i am wrong..

Im also confused. I googled and mostly sites say income tax is HARAM. its probably lack of understanding or a coined term to attract uneducated people towards there particular school of thought.

what my understanding is the system acts as a facilitator, they do take taxes, but the income of the state is through partnerships with pvt organizations, investments in which the state acts as a partner too.

And how will the state put in place the infrastructure to support those industries in the first place?

Surely the industry will not drop from the sky. It will have to be set up. That will need infrastructure which in turn requires money.

Where will that money come from?

Moreover, it is impossible to earn that much money without collecting tax.

Jizya is for non-muslims of other countries who need security from their origin country, but he should not be involved in criminal activities.

well 1 Ummah I am sorry to inform you that taxes are not HARAM. its creation of your own mind I guess. however the role of government in determining the market forces is limited, a sort of free market. but by all means government can collect any tax it feels necessary.

Man made Taxes are haram... The State only takes extra taxes during emergencies and in times of need... The only taxes permitted are those that are found in Islam such as Zakat, Khiraj, Ushar, Rikaz, Khums etc...
