Butt and Asif found guilty

Imprisonment is harsh.

For fixing a game that is the passion of India and Pakistan? Im sorry SpArKy but cricket is more than life and death to some of our countrymen and these guys took the p*ss. There are soldiers that defend the respect their nations sovereignty for peanuts - these guys brought the integrity of their nation into question. You do something like this and should know the consequences mate and must do the time. Im sorry i don't mean to be cold hearted but it has to be done.

Do sane Pakistani members stand for bigger issue. Young Pakistani generation is doing anything illegal to earn some extra bucks. ryI am huge fan of Pakistani cricket talent. Why these young chaps selling their country for some extra bucks. I was huge fan of Asif for his flawless bowling. But he is not different from Kasab who killed people for some bucks. Shame really shame. These guys are explaining Pakistan's today's situation.

Lok. Kasab also comes in a Cricket thread. What's next OBL, Mullah Umar, Hafiz Saeed. Pathetic. :hitwall:

It is the first time that a foreign court has tried, found guilty and convicted an International cricket player on a foreign soil, and he happens to be a Pakistani. It is really a shame for Pakistan and Pakistanis in that context.

Yeha in that context it is a shame but it might have a long lasting positive effect on Pakistan cricket.

Not making him play is more than enough. I dont feel it deserves imprisonment.

It still looks harsh to me when almost all of the political class and most of the public employee classes do it each and every day.

The caught players have given a plenty of proud moments which people cheered, but the moment they did something nasty they started getting on their heads.

These guys unlike other professions have a earning time of say 5-8 years unlike other professions.
The further ban on playing is enough for the repentance.

Imprisonment in jails is harsh.Hope it doesnt happen.

My friend bottomline is these guys are not serving their country by getting those shameul assignments. No offence.

I am for giving Amir another chance. He was a kid misguided by Butt . The ICC wanted to make an example out of him.

Also, how will you assimilate the criminals back into the society if you forever stamp them as the "unwanted scum" of the society and not give them a chance to rehabilitate ?

I don't feel bad for these guys, they brought bad name to PAK... they fully deserve this.....

Don't really know how one can assimilate a tainted cricketer :undecided: ..because once his name is soiled , he will always feel awkward --in the dressing room , before spectators etc.

It was a very bad and regrettable incident.

I hope that they are imprisoned for it will set a clear precedent for anyone who wants to get cute in the future. Sometimes you have to amputate a limb to stop the cancer from spreading to the whole body. However, they should be given a chance to play again after serving their time if they still have any cricketing mettle left.

Haha Salman butt chakki peesai ga jail main. He deserved that.

Well, that's something that they will have to live with for the rest of their lives but not allowing them to play again will only alienate them further. Give them a chance if they deserve it and who knows, out of guilt they might play the best game of their lives and earn everyone's love and appreciation again.

What Cricket they would play after years of imprisonment. It's all over for these guys. They earned it themselves.
