Top 5 Asian Football Teams

just some thoughts for flyboy. i can understand why you would love iranian or saudi football. they play beautifully and creatively. Korea on the otherhand, has a history of playing the longball. basically korea would have a lot of guys defending and punt the ball far to the front hoping that somehow the lone guy upfront will get it and do something with it. very boring and frustrating to watch. But when you are faced with a better team, this is often, the only solution. You see Saudi Arabia being number one for four years and then during world cup being sunk. why? what can saudi midfielders do when opposition midfielders are just all better on a man per man basis? you cant move the ball up at all, get it stolen, and concede a goal when defence is all disorganized.

We all got to start somewhere and i think this type of football is ok too.

Our Chinese soccer team sucks to the bottom. Those players are just a bunch of playboys who know almost nothing about soccer.

you can update the rankings... my knowledge is very limited in football ... ..
and can you also update about the status of chinese team and may be taiwan... and does Hong Kong has a separate team.. and where do you see Chinese(PRC) team,, will it qualify the 2014 WC ..thanks

You should thank Allah that Iran isn't in the Group B. If Iran was in it, then Iran's World Cup dreams are already crushed.

I am not muslim I am an athesit. are you muslims?

also there is no asian team that scares Iran. I mean they are crap compared to top team like argentina.

Well, those Koreans simply don't know how to use their foot to dance with the ball. :coffee:

Even the Japanese football is more enjoyable to watch.

with world cup qualifier games, my assumption is, this will be a gruelling match. sometimes we get really good iran korea matches, but when it gets really desperate, the yellow cards start pouring out and they start to play anti football.

we should just hope for no injuries and fairplay without poor referee officiating.

i hope India qualifies for FIFA WC in 2022 or in 2026 ... :) its my dream to travel with Indian Football Team whenever they enter in FIFA WC :) ... after 26' ... i might loose interest

sorry mate impossible, and also imporssible to Chinese fb team too```we $uck very hard`````

My top 5

Japan
Australia
South korea
Iran
Uzbekistan.

Wish bangladesh was located in ocenia instead, the chances of qualifying is damn high over there.

By the way india qualified for 1950 world cup. But they withdrew. And they also were fourth in 1956 olympic games.
Although Bangladesh and Pakistan did not have such achievements, the football they played was way better than what they play now.

I think the cricket fever is destroying all the other sports in the country, ie. football, hockey.

Rope in a few brazilians, that always does the trick. If not build up stamina like the north koreans, they are like freaking human oxygen tanks

flyboy, in a lot of korean internet postings i see a lot of koreans get arrogant and make fun of chinese football. this is probably a big reason why a lot of chinese football fans dont like korean football. thats just my opinion. but i really belieive that chinese fans put too much pressuremon their players to perform. a simple google search can find entire lists of jokes that chinese fans make about their own team.

but football takes a long time to develope. it is like planting a fruit tree. Japan planted this tree a long time ago knowing that sacrifice was a neccessary investment for future soccer. Japanese mananger Okada was villified by his countrymen for steadfastly following JFA's goal to turn japanese football like spanish tikki takka football. Japan wasnt ready for it then and Okada took the blame. But we see their work today. The south korean super star jisung park of manchester united is a product of japanese football. he was rejected by korean teams, but japan's kyoto purple sanga gave him a chance. the rest is history. the purple sanga by the way also produced japanese national team superstars like mitsui.

The rise of chinese football parallel the rise of china's economic power since the reign of chairman Deng. But football takes a long time to develope. I think a lot of chinese people look at china's superb performance in the olympics and say, " why are the football players so bad?". a national team is just the tip of the iceberg. the true team includes managers, trainers, youth deveopers, etc. Chona's football infrastructure and football tradition will take time to develope.

But it doesnt help when fans start sending hate mails to their own team members.

i watched that game when china beat korea 3:0. they played beautifully. most korean posters i saw said something like, "now they can get over their complex". this will sound arrogant to you and is probably infuriating. but there is a lot of truth in it too. now chinese team members wont feel so much pressure from the fans.

when i see chinese football, i see korean football few years back. this isnt surprising. Koreans and Chinese are virtually identical in physical make up. culture is very similar as well as diet. many korean managers work in CSL as well as players. I think China's football will inevitably grow and i think that is common sense. But how fast it will grow depends on how much Chinese people will want it.

That being said, i think i can understand why you wouldnt like either korean or chinese football... but i will save that for next posting...

As a matter of fact, in 1980 Chinese football team was a much better team. So I don't think financial power necessarily makes a good team. The reason I see no hope in Chinese team in near future is that when you walk through Chinese cities, you rarely see kids playing football. In United states where I lived, everyday when I drove back home I see many kids playing soccers, I mean formal games. I remember when I was in Paris, there're players all over the place near Eiffel tower. Actually less and less Chinese kids play football now due to the over protection from their parents since that's the only kid. If you search for Japanese kids instead, they are just becoming better and better.

Anyway, Chinese hates the national team not because they cannot win, but because of lack of professionalism and dedication. People will understand if they cannot win over Japan, Korea or Iran etc. But over past 30 years, they always lost critical games to weaker oponents, including HongKong, Katar, Syria.. the list goes on and on (China never lost do or die games to Japan/South Korea actually)

As to Korean team, I actually never realized their internet postings and that doesn't bother me at all. I just feel that they focus on the wrong thing. Asian's average physical strength is not as good as those in Europe/Africa and playing physical games is just a wrong thing to do. Korean team has been the top team in Asia for how long? And they are going no where. I grew up in the area that there're a lot of ethnic Koreans and a lot of them are super technical. So it is not like that they cannot play technical as Japanese do. One thing about sports in Korea is that there're too much nationalism into sports (China used to be like that in 1980-1990s) so I feel they focus too much on short term winning.

90% of all Iranian here who live in Iran are athiests lol
