Jaipur, India, Nov 1 (bdnews24.com)—Opposition Leader Khaleda Zia on Thursday visited Ajmer Sharif, the shrine of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, and prayed for Bangladesh and happiness and prosperity of the nation's people.

Her Press Secretary Maruf Kamal Khan said the BNP Chairperson and her entourage arrived at Ajmer Sharif around 1:15pm from Jaipur by road on Thursday, fifth day of her current visit to India.

After offering special prayer at the shrine, she wrote on the visitor's book there, "We need Rahmat of Allah and Doa of Kwaja Baba for Bangladesh and us."

She had started for Ajmer Sharif around 10am in the morning.

BNP Standing Committee Member Tariqul Islam, her Advisors Riaz Rahman and Sabih Uddin Ahmed, BNP Vice-Chairman Shamser Mobin Chowdhury, and former MPs Khaleda Rabbani and Mosaddek Ali Falu were also among those accompanying her during the visit.

The shrine's chief Khadem and others received the opposition leader as she reached there.

She left back for Jaipur from the shrine.

Khaleda reached Jaipur, capital of the Indian state of Rajasthan, on Wednesday afternoon from New Delhi. She spent the night at Hotel Rambagh Palace.

She kicked off her seven-day India tour on Sunday on invitation of the Indian government with a nine-strong delegation accompanying her.

With only a year to the parliamentary elections, the BNP considers the visit 'very significant' while India says it 'is part of their engagement with Bangladesh's democratic and multiparty polity'.

She met Indian External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid and National Security Advisor Shibshankar Menon on Tuesday. She has already met Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Opposition Leader in Indian Parliament Sushma Swaraj.

Khaleda will return on Nov 3, according to Maruf Kamal Khan.

bdnews24.com's Chief Political Correspondent Sumon Mahmud is travelling with the Opposition Leader to cover the tour.

hahahah...this has got to be embarrassing for the BD folk on PDF. She was pitched as a bazooka, instead she turned out to be a squirt gun.

That's the internal politics, India would be happy to keep good relation with both parties. Can you post reactions of Jamat and Oikkya Jote

What M_Saint said earlier could be the unofficial reaction of Jammat E Islami....

Assad Bhai, If Zia were alive then he would be in sadness, despair; especially seeing his wife cum wannabe PM running towards enemy capital for buying electoral hedge. The probable sell-off tour would relegate her party next to RAWAMY League IMO. Several veggies taking over BNP'S top posts and getting cozy with her were causing the widening of gap between BNP and JI walas. Result was visible when Shibir formed all party's student front without 'Chatra Dal'. It seemed like Malu's plan to dissociate BNP from JI to buy security hedge came to the fruition. But the question was whether the Jamaati's trade off was wise for future or not. IMHO, shaking hand with the holders of the terrorist 'Mata Hari' state was simply back stabbing the martyrs and gazies on RAWAMY’s hands. By saying that I would rest my case.

No one in Bangladesh is directly against India but they are against India because it has not fulfilled any of it`s earlier promise from resolving land boundary dispute, water sharing, stopping border killing, creating artificial trade barrier to halt Bangladeshi export, airing all the Indian channel in Bangladesh but not letting airing Bangldeshi channel in India etc.

Apart from that there are some proven or unproven acquisition like interfering in domestic politics, earlier supplying arms to shanti bahini, possible involvement in the pilkhana massacre, promoting drug smuggling etc.

Every one want good relation with India based on mutual respect but not submissive attitude be it to China or India. What BAL leaders usually do and what BNP is doing is nothing but a submissive attitude. As BNP is now becoming close to India, BAL is trying to be close to China as said by Hanif.

What Munshi earlier said BNP`s close relation to India is mainly to legitimize the return of Tareque Zia into politics of Bangladesh which USA strongly oppose.

Last thing both this BNP and BAL and other parties s"cks. At the end of the day they will do politics for their own gain and making money and the ordinary citizen will pay the price which they are still paying.

Morshed Khan should quit politics, i saw him couple of months ago in a party, man looked lost as hell. It is time to call it quits morshed uncle! On the other hand murshed khan is top notch indian dalal, sold his city cell to indians for 300 crore.

It was a long time coming, they are not able to digest it.

The dreams of BD taking over the seven sisters starting to look distant, might be a mirage though...

Jamaat is quite well connected than this washed up lt. general mahbubur rahman. Lt. general mahbubur rahman is quite useless, holds no specif power inside bnp. No one he is giving his opinion from Old DOHS inside his home.

So lets see, improve relations with BD, SL, China, Myanmar. I love Indian Foreign Policy makers :victory:

And for all the anti-India Bangladeshis who were firing up because of BNP

What M_Saint said earlier could be the unofficial reaction of Jammat E Islami....

I still fail to understand why people even give so much attention to that worthless party...

Those points sum it up more or less.

I always wonder what American intel opinion is regarding Joy(?)

Well, that's a pity...

It's a pity really that Citycell was the very first cellular service provider in Bangladesh. He was a pretty decent foreign minister though. At least better than the current one

Fuuuh! I still honestly think this is part of election strategy! Promise everything to everyone.... Be good to all before going to power!!! Like Roman Emperor Caligula!!!! Khaleda is trolling indians, not pdf Jamatis! Anyway, i don't oppose good india bd relationship. When Khaleda makes deal with india, i know she is sincere to her nation. But this is not the case with Awamileague! I trust a rattle snake more than them!!
