Bangladesh Interested in JF-17

No, China has almost abandoned or is still experimenting with WS-10A engine which so far has alluded Chinese dream to build its own engine. It is a completely unreliable jet engine. It has serious problem with thrust that slows down its rise to sky after taking off, which is a very important factor to win a battle. China tried to copy the Russian engine AL-31F and named it WS-10A.

Western countries went through many decades of metallurgical trials and errors before they came up with so many different reliable engines. China will have to go a long way, may be 10 or 20 years, before it is able to build jet engines for military use.

All J-11B's and the J-15 are being equipped with WS-10A.

It was unreliable a few years ago but is now reliable enough to be put on production twin-engine aircraft.

WS-10A is being tested on a J-10B fighter - if it was completely unreliable then they simply won't risk it on a single engine aircraft.

Also WS-13 has been flight tested on JF-17 for the last 2 years.

China is not as mature on jet engines as Russia or the West but they are making progress.

Leadership: Why Russia Has China By The Engines

Bangladesh Pakistan China standing united would certaintly bring balance to the region. I doubt India would accept such a thing given its hindutva inspired hedgemonistic tendencies.

Naturally India would be concerned. The entire country will want to ensure that our interests are safe.

Please can someone clarify is the engines for JF17s made in Russia or are they supplied by the Chinese. Russian may be strong armed by the chinese to supply the engines for JF17 but I think they may object to these going to Bangladesh via JF17 when they can sell us migs etc directly.

The FC-1 engines are basically Russian made but Chinese resold. In short, Klimov sells it to CAC who in turn put it in their jet and sell it to Pakistan and maybe you.

Is Pakistan trying to develop its own engines? I hope very soon there will be a indiginious non western war plane that is on par with the best. ( I am including Russia as part of the west).

Engine technology is the toughest tech in aeronautics. It takes years of research, investment and understanding to refine propulsion technologies. Russia has 8-9 decades of aeronautics, the Americans founded powered flight, the Europeans got the American gift for free.

So it will take sometime for Asian countries to develop own engines. BTW Japanese make their own engines. heard of IHI? Google it.

I will believe it only when a jf-17 lands in BD with BD's air force livery.

But I don't think that it will be the version that you've ordered.

Most probably it will be the FC-1 variant that will be directly sold by China.

Now obviously, since you both may in the future wield similar weapons, China would like to customize their product so that each country (you and the Banglas) are secure enough that each others' tech is not compromised. Something similar to what we have with the MKIs and the Reds with the MKKs.

even i dont think pak will allow it. our air force is weak

even grass eater burmese air force is stronger than ours

Pakistan has no say if the Chinese offer you the FC-1 variant because it is the base product on which BAF can customize requirements as it is needed. While the project is a JV, the JF-17 will be a totally different product as it is designed for Pakistani needs specifically which may or may not be similar to yours.

Myanmar has a junta. What were you expecting? Naturally they will have a powerful military.

I beg to differ boss, British aeronautics industries rivaled US counterparts till the onset of cold war, and maybe even few years after that. Its was British engineers who achieved significant breakthrough Jet engine technologies back in the 30s, not Americans.

I am talking about the tech post WW2. The Nazi research had given US one of the biggest technical boosts ever, propelling them generations ahead.

BTW you do know that it was the Nazis who designed the developed the jet engines, don't you?

innitially BAF showed interest but later backed down in favor of more advanced Mig-29SMT/M/M2. I have heard about a possible procurement order to be submitted for 8 more Mig-29SMT in 2013.

If you have a traitor's daughter as your PM, there is little chance Pakistan will collaborate in defence field with you. On top of that, she is not willing to make up with Pakistan. So there is no chance of you getting JF-17.

Thank God she is in power!! otherwise Paks would have pushed those JF-17 (F stands for fighter and God knows what J stands for:rofl:) into BD somehow...:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Just one squadron of JFT equipped with SD-10 and Mar-1 backed by ZDK 03 can clean up whole airforce of BD. You know that?

Stop acting like a fool and accept the simple fact that JFT even in it's current form is better than almost all the AC of BAF. All those  aren't going to add much weight to your trolling.

Bangladesh under the traitor's daughter must get the Indian Tejas. Hopefully they will fly someday with full weapons load and also be able to fire them!

For that jf-17 need to cross India... or must take U turn for that...

kya bat hai imraan khan ki trolling pak BD camps me kafi halchal fela di hai

anyway jf 17 is ok. but i think BAF gonna have some russian 1s.

Was just presenting an imaginary scenario just to explain some facts to the BD member. Why will we do that anyways? Waste of money and fuel.

Bangladesh will not buy the JF17 because of India factor and it will not buy any Indian planes because of the china factor.

We will buy our planes from countries who can not be swayed in the event of conflict and there is only two such countries. Only countries we can have a conflict with is India and burma. Buying JF17 when Pakistan itself is under pressure from India is shortsighted. Obviously it would be silly to buy Indian planes. Add to this there are only a few countries with the capability to produce planes.

We will buy chinese simply because they are a time tested friend and we share common strategic concerns. Russian planes are also becoming more viable as India moves away from the russians towards Americans. Chinese planes anyhow are Russian copies with Russian engines. We can not afford US or European fighters, the Korean planes are still untested....

So in summery BAF will by Chinese, if it has more money then they will buy Russian. No other source of war planes are viable.

I guess Pakistan will also not sell due to Indian factor.

China would sell nothing more than F7 and Indians have nothing to offer and neither Indians would be glad to see Grippen in its backyard.

So every one may have consent on F7, but BAF.
