am still confused i thought we were using afghan taliban to pressurize ttp for peace talks. or it nothing but a turf war in afghanistan? because they have a histiry og doing that. one moment they will be best pals and next moment they will be fighting over raise of an eyebrow

Ehsanullah ehsan has clarified that it is Ansar ul islam and some other groups who are calling themeselves Afghan Taliban.

All those who think Afghan Taliban and TTP are same must do some digging on the rise of TTP and Pak-Afghan relations during 1996-2001 when Taliban were in control in Kabul.

I can't remember any suicide attack inside Pakistan from them... if anything like that happened, I would love to get educated.

The real issue begins around 2004-05, when out of no where, a powerful TTP emerged after Musharraf allowed CIA unrestricted access to Pakistan tribal areas. No one had ever heard the names like Naik Muhammad and Baitullah Mehsud before that time. Interestingly, from Naik Muhammad to Wali ur Rehman, whoever ,from within TTP, tried to initiate peace talks with PA was eliminated by CIA drone strike which otherwise only targets Afghan Taliban militants in Northern Waziristan.

Now some pals here are desperate to prove that it is just a truf war for drugs and women. My request to those: Just google the rise and fall of opium production in Afghanistan since 1990- till date and you will know how much love of drugs Afghan Talibans have and how much CIA/NATO/US have done to eliminate this menace!! (Please do try it)

I agree that Afghan Taliban were under the influence of radical Salfi Ben Laden group Al-CIA'eda but they learned lots of harsh lesson in very harsh ways during the past decade. As now they are out of Arab influence, they have focused their energies on real enemies. US/NATO who have occupied their country (What they believe it). On the other hand, all the radical Arab groups, Uzbik, Criminals from Pakistan joined TTP. Express Tribune link shared above by someone made it clear that Afghan Taliban never operated inside Pakistan. Then who does? TTP!! But at the same time, they have not confirmed the news.

So, these kinds of clashes are not meant to be taken as truf wars. They have strong ideological difference behind them as motivating factors!

How this clash will impact on Pakistan ... Well, that is too hard to say due to many reasons.

1. It hasn't happened yet. No one know the outcome. TTP will have much more sophisticated comm gear to outmaneuver their enemies.

2. It is not clear where the showdown will take place. Kunnar or Mohmand? They can't fight on border. So it will be either in Kunnar (Afghanistan) or Mohamand (Pakistan).

3. As the battlefield is not defined yet... So, hard to say, What Pakistan Army will do.

Let's wait and see how events unfold themselves in front of us.

I see your ar$e burning. You guys want Pakistani's getting killed? Fuk you for that post.

It is your denial to learn from the mistakes of past ...That is what is getting pakistanis killed..Keep cheering for one terrorist or other in the hopes that good terrorists will finish off bad terrorists..
And as for my post Dawn news didn't say
Due to extreme differences everted, Afghanistan Taliban has readied their troops to start a big military strike over Pakistani Taliban
That is just the newstribe extrapolating a news report to suite its propaganda..

Coming to reality,TTP wouldn't survive more than 2 weeks if afghan taliban block their weapon supplies or deny them safe havens in North wazeeristan(Where afghan taliban allies like haqqanis hold sway)or in kunar or nuristan which are all areas with less ANA/NATO and more afghan taliban influence(Post NATO withdrawal from kunar and nuristan posts in 2010)

What do you do? Cocaine??

Obviously pre 2001 situation was veru different and no suicide attacks. duh!!

Mushy started killing and capturing Mujahideen (including afghan taliban, arabs, ***** etc etc).. TTP was created in response (with blessings from Mullah Omar) to Counter Pakistan because Pakistan is a USA Ally. Mullah Omar has repeatedly asked in his sermons to attack AMERICA AND ALL ITS ALLIES..

Mushy started operation in 2002~4 etc, then TTP banded togather kinda and started killing in Pakistan.. After 2007 (lal masjid) TTP really got a boost and has wrecked HAVOC killing HUNDREDS of SOLDIERS..

Pls get this out of your THICK brain that TTP terrorists are CIA funded. Infact Pakistan Army is CIA funded (18 billion dollars is NOT a small amount)... and CIA has killed the TOP leadership and TTP (naik mohammed, baitullah mehsud, wali ur rehman amongst dozens of others through drones.. this is what Pakistan Army couldnt do)!

As far as peace talks, TTP has repeatedly said they are ready for peace as long as their demands are met (release their captured terrorists, end army bases in tribal areas, end to war on terror etc..) Even hakimullah came in a video and said this..

Oh and Aghan Taliban and TTP are like brothers with different strategies. Both support each other. Google a video by the title "Bunyan um Marsoos"...

Thank you

There is no chance this news can be true because Taliban are not a super power themselves but they are fighting one and their allies in Nato so they can't deal with TTP right now even if they hate them

TTP is based in Pakistan, so its home terrain for these guys, like Afghan taliban have the home terrain advantage in Afghanistan. I doubt there will be any conflict.

What do you do? ... Let me guess ... NEDO!!

I specifically asked you to do some digging... before posting this western media non-sense here. Did it ever occured to you who gave TTP all those weapons, logistics, strategic planning and training, real time intel about movements of Pak army etc.? I am sure no such thing ever happened to you as you decided to took media's word as word of Gospel and now it is very difficult for you to comprehend that Afghan Taliban never operated outside Afghanistan (check tribune express link). It was only TTP who claimed that they are working under Afghan Taliban's command, how many times Afghan Taliban own TTP like that?

I have no idea how on earth, someone got authentic views of the most elusive person in contemporary war history. i.e. Mullah Omar. So, I will take all those claims that TTP was made by Mullah Omar's blessings with lots of suspicions!

FYI, Pakistan army intel units began working in FATA after the US bombed Tora Bora without informing Pakistan in advance so that we could have seal our side of border and crush these Salfi hardcore Takfeeri militants right there and then. But when you have allies like the US, who need enemies! As far as 18 billions is concerned, (even if this exaggerated figure is correct in the first place) a major share of this money is reimbursement for the money Pakistan army spent to get a self-inflicted wound. Sir, TTP was formed in 2005, not in 2001, while Pakistan had been an US ally since 2001. If it was a reactionary force then why did it took them 4 years to rise? Any explanation? And if they are not getting help from hostile agencies who are working against Pakistan from Afghanistan, then who is providing Rs. 20,000 /- month to every TTP fighter? Even if we consider a small band of 12000 men... you can calculate the amount they need every month just to pay for salaries. I haven't included weapons, logistics yet!! Now use your very very THIN common sense ( if it is there) and elaborate me that money trail which is keeping them strong like this even after Pakistan Army over ran their strongholds in South Waziristan some 4 years ago.

Sir jee, These are advanced (4th and 5th generation) dirty wars? Ops! Do you have any idea what i am talking about here? I am afraid NOT, And as far as that video is concerned, again it is produced by Al-Cia'eda's media wing and not by Afghan Taliban!!

If CIA is so anti-TTP, how come it always eliminate leaders of TTP who wants to have some kind of peace agreement with PA. ( though their intentions might be debatable but that is a separate issue). Did you ever bother you THIN common sense to inquire the fact that why Hakeemullah Mehsud's peace offers were never responded like Naik Muhammad or Gul Bahadur. (both killed by CIA to sabotage peace deal just like Wali Rehman recently)?

Now some education for your THIN common Sense!

You can eliminate terrorists and terrorism using military means alone, but eliminating an ideologically motivated insurgency requires an entirely different kind of response strategy. Pakistan Army and government is fighting this war without any national security strategy and that's why there is no end to this war in sight! Develop a multi-pronged response strategy under a clearly defined national security policy first, then devise a path to eliminate the rationale of insurgents. Else, keep bombing your own homeland and you will never succeed. Because you just cannot bomb an idea!
