Still grappling with a season of incursions by Pakistan and China in Jammu and Kashmir and Arunachal Pradesh, India is now faced with the Myanmar Army intruding into Indian territory in Manipur’s Chandel district.

Headlines Today can confirm that the Ministries of Home, Defence and External Affairs are aware of the situation and at various stages of dealing with it.

The area under question, about 5-km from the Moreh Police Station, falls under the 9 Assam Rifles unit, which reports to the Home Ministry.

The nub of the fresh territorial problems arises from a 10-km border fence on the Indo-Myanmar border in Chandel district.

According to Indian Army sources, the Myanmar Army’s 87 Light Infantry was found to be laying the groundwork for a platoon base camp at Holenphai, a frontier village that Myanmar claims is within their territory. Last week, the village chief Lalkholun Haokip was on an inspection round in the area when they chanced upon the Myanmar Army’s preparations.

Myanmar Army soldiers they saw working in the area refused to acknowledge questions, and asked the Indians to contact their seniors. The following day the IAS officer in the area Robert Kshetrimayum conducted a spot inspection.

The Commanding Officer of the Myanmar Army’s 87 Light Infantry met with the Indian officials, but refused to stop work claiming two things: one, the territory they were building the platoon base on was Myanmarese territory, and two, the instructions to build the camp had come from higher military authorities and therefore, it was not a local level decision that could be negotiated.

Sources say the CO also showed the Indian officials a detailed Myanmar map which depicted Holenphai village as falling within Myanmar territory.

Sources indicate that the 87 Light Infantry of the Myanmar Army and the 9 Assam Rifles are in touch over the issue, though construction work has not ceased at Holenphai village. The Assam Rifles unit has increases vigilance and patrolling in the area.

WTF!?

STILL ANYONE INTERESTED IN VOTING FOR THESE SCUMS AFTER ALL THIS?

And india can fight with all these countries at a time in dreams:sleep:

You still want to fight after the crisis the world is dealing with?

How long do you think you will survive on Saudi aid?

Come on, get real.

The region is going to dumps and you're talking about spending more money.

Not that we cannot fight as you know in our long modern history of conflicts, but this is not the right time to muscle flex.

If US strikes Syria, all economic hell will break loose.

I have no hope in this current govt.

I never had it since the beginning.

Only brainwashed and dreamy fellow Indians were talking about 'Chidu' and 'Dr. Singh' and 'Pranab Da' etc.

I always knew that this regime's first term fame was only there by basking in the glory of tremendous work done between 1999-2004 by a legitimate government.

well states like nagaland, manipur and mizoram were historically part of Myanmar and still even today culturaly they belong to them.

i hope they realize this soon and grab there own land back from the occupied forces

:omghaha::omghaha::omghaha:

What a super/regional power.

India worked hard with US n western countries for removing sanctions against this country now its going to be back there soon, South Asian countries have maximum number of border issues compared to any where else in the world because of common cultural history and British sowed the seeds of mistrust too and this issue can't be solved by force

History has left these nations with many issues apart from border to settle, like river waters, etc. and India shares border with all countries and sea with lankans so India has its plate full to settle this

Given their logic ...we should take back our land from occupied forces ....what you say ?

Rather funny are some of the guys over here on PDF ....

I liked his humor as well as enthusiasm ....

But for current situation we are to blame ourselves ....

Our central leadership has been so weak ....that's why our neighbors like Myanmar have audacity to act this way ....

It's rather unfortunate ....!!!
