What's new

Which country is China's best/true friend?

If our government and military do not want to involve themselves, then a few days of anti-China propaganda will fix that. Emotionally-driven people are easy to sway.

Indeed, everything is actually a double edged sword.

Doesn't matter.

We already asked the Pakistani government to join us in a joint-attack on India in 1962.

Ayub Khan unfortunately wanted to side with India instead, he even offered a joint-defence proposal to India, against China.

But in the end, nothing changed. Geopolitical interests reign supreme.

True but in our case it goes beyond such cold & calculated strategies !

Especially on the Pakistani - we are an emotional lot !

If China were attacked tomorrow, I'd bet my arse, Pakistanis would want to join the War. Whether our Sold-Out-Goverment would comply with popular wishes or not is a separate issue !

And the reason is that we - the people of Pakistan - value our friends a lot & China has been a true friend through & through throughout the decades !

With what - Mitsubishis, Hondas & Toyotas ? :what:

But china dont join or openly support Pakistan in 1971 and 1999 except weapons help.

This sounds really absurd when you call some one your true friend when it comes to international relation. Sadly there is no scope for emotional attachment in foreign affairs. Russians were considered our true friends, but not without their vested interests. This is like a arrange marriage where the two parties only want to make profit from each other but no love.

PS: People who think it's Pakistan, think twice.

Ideally China, with all it's financial wealth should go out and buy a few more friends.

Indira Gandhi was clever enough to wait until the mountain passes were blocked by snow, to rule out Chinese military involvement.

Though in the end, all countries can only depend on themselves.

India asked both Russia and America for military intervention during the 1962 war.

But despite both of them being open enemies towards China at that point, neither saw it in their interests to help.

I dont think average pakistani would give a $hit if china goes on a war with japan/korea.

Heck, they dont care when their own country is in war with "bad" terrorists and US is regularly breaching their sovereignty.

You are giving more credit to pakistanis than what they deserve.

It's definitely not hindi-chini bhai bhai

Pakistan is their natural ally. I hope you both prosper and Pakistan's situation improves. :)

Pakistan against Japan and the US?? seriously?? those are probably the two most biggest donors for Pakistan...though China probably will not call for Pakistan's aid (for China, Pakistan is more as a counter for India) but even if they do Pakistan will just stay silent.

I don't think it panned out like that but Ayub was an idiot so it might be possible !

At any rate if one read's the Shaba-Nama by Qudrut Ullah Shahab (a famous work by a well known career civil servant who worked with Ayub & his predecessors) he writes that on the eve of the 1962 War the Chinese Diplomat in Pakistan called him up & told him that we're about to do what you guys were about to do which means Kashmir would be significantly weak ! Shahab writes that that is all he needed to say & I hurried to the President (Ayub Khan) in the middle of the night & told him what the Chinese Diplomat had told us & do you know what Ayub's reply was 'You woke up at 3 in the morning to tell me this ?'

And he says that we all felt like smashing our heads against a wall or something after hearing that but he was the President !

Pakistan is not taking any Aid anymore !

But I never said Pakistan against the US or Japan - I said thats what the people of Pakistan would want !

In the '71 War the Passes were closed, in the '71 War whatever was happening in the Eastern Wing (East Pakistan) even the GHQ didn't know because Niazi was telling them tales of victory & what not whilst the idiot he was he was loosing territory !

In '99 even the Airforce & the Navy didn't know not even the rest of the Army so how can one expect another country to know what was happening ?

Dnt now abt a joint -defence proposal... but Pakistan should have joined 62 war with india... the same war during which india offered thousands of sqm IOK territory .. to keep Pakistan out of tht war...... which Ayub refused..

US...if US would not have brought Chinese toys and plastic, China may nor have been the economy that it is today

If the primitive men would not have toiled all day long, civilizations may not have been possible.

Hard work pays.

so basically your take is
62 - oh we had that president who did whatever he thought like so does not really reflect what we would have liked
65 - ?
71 - frozen himalaya, too little time(15 days) ( I agree on this one)
99 - nobody knew what is going on for 6 months. (really?)
