Can Japan show the West how to live peacefully with Islam?

To be honest, like the other members have pointed out,Japan has a miniscule muslim population to make claims of harmony or otherwise. In experience of north east India (the culture and mindset is more eastouth-east asian than south asian here),the muslims at first prefer to be left alone and do not interact much with others,as soon as they have significant numbers they try to force their beliefs on others.Disrespecting the native beliefs and way of life, restricting themselves to ghettos and creating social issues etc.So no,Islam especially its more purist strains are incompatible with others people,at least in north east India.

I am against the almost subliminal demonization of muslims and muslim people. As if their practice of their religion is a bad thing. My point of view.

Yes I was wondering who you were responding to that said that Islam = subhuman or inherently evil, I didn't see anything like that.

Was this rant a response to a post in this thread? I can't connect the dots...

It is puzzling to see someone posting from the Japanese perspective, but using recent historical human rights as a soap-box.

Just because my views don't necessarily align with yours, doesn't put my view any less, dude.

That' is the thing, you are applying the failures in the west to that in Japan, when it does not apply. Muslims in Japan are not living in ghettos or uneducated. In fact , it is contrary. Muslims in japan are highly educated, and verily much integrated into the society. Why is it that they can succeed in Japan and not in the west? That is the point of the article, and that is what i'm too trying to point out.

Well.
Let me put it in easy words.
Dumb people try to force it on others while someone who actually follows the religion wont.

Every religoin has that :{

its not the religions fault.

You have won the thread.
Glorious. I give you +1

The article points out a poignant rhetorical question, folks!

Turns out to be an almost impracticable when the 'actual followers' are in minority or non existent.Fact is abrahamic religions or its modifications are incompatible our north east Indian way of life.

As has been already pointed out, first let their population reach critical mass and then we will talk. The muslims were pretty harmless(isolationist) in north east India too,as soon as they reached critical mass..well the rest is history.

How is that? I do believe that Christianity is THE DOMINANT RELIGION in Nagaland. And Nagaland is part of North East India, isn't it? :)

Please read:

Christianity is the predominant religion of Nagaland. The state's population is 1.988 million, out of which 90.02% are Christians.[35][36] The census of 2001 recorded the state's Christian population at 1,790,349, making it, with Meghalaya and Mizoram, one of the three Christian-majority states in India and the only state where Christians form 90% of the population. The state has a very high church attendance rate in both urban and rural areas. Huge churches dominate the skylines of Kohima, Dimapur, and Mokokchung

If you don't want your view to be challenged, posting it on a public message board is not the best idea. I haven't noted anything I disagree with in particular, other than some of the over-simplified logic that I see. The basis for this whole thread is faulty, in my opinion. I don't consider my opinion "greater", unless there is nothing factual countering it.

Japan has a no-immigration principal currently. It is disingenuous to then hold them up as a shining example of how to co-exist with people. Even with the minute amount of Japanese Muslims, they are still native Japanese. They may have a different religion, but they still share the basic customs and culture. This prevents the type of clashes that you see in Europe currently. It isn't about what god they pray to, it is about entirely different cultures mixing.

If Japan opens up since they are facing a population contraction and need labor, you will see growing pains from immigrant Muslims, and immigrants of any other religion or no-religion. And it wont always be the fault of the immigrants.

Well easy then, we kick 99% of muslims out of our country, just keep the doctors and engineers and then say we are the best. Japan has no muslims. Thats the simple fact. The percentage of muslims in japan is lower than the percentage of Ainu people in Italy. I could also ask the question what Japan could learn from the west about tolerance towards Ainu people.

Go knock a few Japanese buildings down and see how fast thing change.

Why would I? Japan didn't interfere in internal matters of Pakistan, neither did it kill Pakistani soldiers by ''mistake''.

Now I know why the Germans don't want Turkey in EU. They will take your place in Europe as the leaders due to their higher population.
