US offers its latest fighter to India

If US offers something in the shape of military aid it's supposed to be contributing towards an arms build up aimed against India? Yet, when it's a military sale it isn't? That's an odd comparison.

Not really... What I was pointing out was the difference on who's paying for it. In the 1st case, US is paying for an arms buildup against india and hence the protest. In the second case, India is paying hard cash against whatever its planning to buy..

India will have Fifth generation FGFA about 2020 and also MCA will be coming. F-35 or no F-35, India is steadily progressing to acquire 5th gen beast. :smitten:

But what about Pakistan.:rofl::rofl:

Yeah, i know we don't need 5th gen fighters for them, it's all for China. So, when we say we are preparing to fight both threats simultaneously we mean it.:agree:

And fact of the matter is that the Indian and American military relations are going to strong day by day.:yahoo:

Because everybody in the world is worried about the communist China and its real intentions. :hang2:

'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?' - after reading the Indian's here, they certainly do! :rofl: :rofl:

these are for IAC-2 ....i guess a couple of squadrons in IAF wont be that bad...

Although I am against it and would prefer N-FGFA, this is an interesting development. First they offered E-2D which mainly is for carriers, then we show interest in EMALS for our new carriers, now they come with F35 which could be even the C version then. A combined deal with EMALS, E-2D and F35C would for sure be very interesting for IN and much more preferable than 4+ fighters like F18SH, Rafale, Mig 29K with AESA, or even Sea Gripen.

They have redesigned the IAC-2 for CATOBAR and raised the Tonnage to 50,000.

The IN is certainly done a U-turn on its Carrier fleet. Since the US had demonstrated its EMALS technology to IN

Its pretty much guaranteed.

This makes me think there is even truth to the rumors on the British carrier sale.

but that's to far away to predict.

However the F-35 B can operate on all the carriers.

Please refrain from posting any harsh or provocative comment as it may ignite the thread in seconds.

All Pakistani folks I am sorry from his behalf.

I would rather say we are just trying to protect our land as any other country.

Lets get a dose of reality for all here. Indians and Pakistanis alike.

The offer is from a representative of LM. All JSF/F-35 sales have to go through the usual process of USG/USC approval etc. During this process, considerations for concerns of others are also made. If IAF is allowed to purchase F-35, so will Pakistan based on the current policies on defence acquisitions for Pakistan and India. You can mark my words on this because currently, none of the platforms on sale are on-hold. What is holding Pakistan back is the funding, however if the need is felt that Pakistan has to have 5th generation aircraft fielded, GoP will work it out.

It makes very good sense for the LM reps to remove any pre-conditions because they have to think about future sales of F-35 beyond the Viper.

Secondly, the real challenge is the wait list. Which is pretty long and the deliveries to first tier nations (ones which got on the program first) will not be completed before 2017. Based on that, India and others will be waiting for a while, in time for other competitors of LM to offer similar 5th gen capabilities.

If pak really somehow put up the money, they couldn't be able to go for more than 18.
Indian Navy on othe other hand will go for 40 atleast but won't buy if Pak do. Thus US will be more interested in India.

India will need it after 7-8 years from now i.e. 2017-18.

WTF :angry:
It will blow away our Relations with USA. The hegamonic designs of US have now came infront of US . Its time to wake up ppl...US is not our ally any more :agree: . Pakistan should approch Turkey as its also one of the member of F-35 project .

However i still have my doughs that USA is really going to give the Indians such an advance tech ....my mind is in state of Denial :blink:

May be Gen have also played somthing in it ...:angry:

PA ..instead of hoping for the best prepare for the worst ..:undecided:

:pakistan::pakistan:

The JSF offer by itself is too lucrative an offer to reject.Im quite sure PAF would also like to have some of them if they were offered,and i believe even PAF will be eventually offered someday.Why?? because its just good business.

Relation between India and Russia (taking Russia as American foe) and Pakistan and China (taking China as American foe) are not similar. Pakistan and China are mostly one and same when it comes to militry development and support. There hasn't been a single project in Pakistan the past 20 years where China had not contributed and this also holds true in reverse order up to Pakistan's maximum limits.

Taking lead from that, when USA offers its technology to India, theoretically speaking, it stays with India and doesn't reach in Russian hands but when something is offered to Pakistan, it is too risky for them as it is very likely that Chinese will get their hands on to that. So my conclusion is NO, even when selling High Tech aircrafts to Pakistan means business, there is risk of same hardware reaching American adversaries through Pakistan and that is not acceptable to America at any cost. So Pakistan will not be offered what is being offered to India.

Well, that remains to be seen as judging by past record it doesn't bode very well. The single or multiple theatre argument still doesn't take away the logistical difficulties that the IAF will have to face during induction and thereafter. I'm very interested to see how the IAF will face this uphill battle.

Its going to be tough.. I give you that, but then looking at it in another way.. If each new platform is actually replacing an aging platform already in service, the actual number of diverse platforms doesnt increase (excpet the transition period). Also a more capable machine reduces the number of machines you actually need to deploy for the intended objective. So what the IAF may loose in terms of multiple platforms, it will gain back in needing to deploy lesser number of assets..

But you are right. It will need to be seen on how this goes down. At this time I am not even sure of the validity of the news 100%
