everything you said `is irrelevant… referendum will be held in IOK and azad kashmir.

There is no chance of any referendum now. That ship has sailed a long time ago. Pakistan should have fulfilled the preconditions prescribed in the resolution about 60 years ago. Now after fighting so many wars and more importantly the Shimla agreement the UN resolution has no value. You can of course keep trying. We are happy with that arrangement.

lol... referendum...
keep deluding urself on referendum...
Pakistan need to give back Azad Kashmir. then there will be any talk..

That should be able to select Pakistan it seems many people are Muslims.

Not really there is a sizable Hindu, Sikh and Buddhist population in the Jammu region of Jammu and Kashmir. Also Shia muslims are pro-India, add to that I don't believe every muslim in the Kashmir Valley is a separatist, there is always 45-50% voting in local elections even after the boycott call by separatists

yeah…why not?

U must be the most daring, bold, courageous Pakistani I have come across. Holding referendum in Balochistan is definatley not a child's Play. Pakistan may invite the risk of civil war or plung into multiple several crisis. Already Pakistan is rocked, battling one or another crisis. U must understand Pakistan is not United Kingdom which allow Scotalnd to hold referendum to vote whether to remain indipendent or united.

Bro,what about the insurgency which has been going on in Balcohistan right from 1947.More then 5 wars have been fougth till now.About insecurity in Pakistan, the less said, more better. I know where Pakistan is heading, It thas launched a militlary operation in Wazirstan, sectarian voilence, political voilence between TUQ,PTI,MQM. On the economic front,Pakistan has done very badly, exports have fallen, law & order is terrible or worse. What is Pakistan's forex reserves, debt servicing.Yr debts(internal, external, circular) has increased like anything.

Most of the Muslims didn't got their lands. The states where there was Hindu majority were given to India completely whereas those states where Muslims were in majority were divided so that India could gain more land. For instance UP, Bihar & Gujarat were not divided whereas Punjab & Bengal were divided.

Similarly Hyderabad Deccan & Junagadh Manvadar were occupied by India citing majority Hindu population whereas Kashmir was occupied by India citing the ruler's decision.
No district in UP, Bihar, Gujarat, Hyderabad state or Junagarh state had muslim majority..

UP, Bihar, Gujarat & Hyderabad had many Muslims spread across. Although they might not have majority areas but still they had sizable populations. Hyderabad and Junagarh were ruled by Muslims but had Hindu majority whereas Kashmir was ruled by Hindu but had Muslim majority.

Any referendum in Kashmir (both parts held by either countries) would be a disaster. Kashmiris will most probably vote for independence from both India and Pakistan.

Does anybody think that the military and political establishments of both countries ever allow their respective portions of Kashmir being taken away from them?

Status quo helps both of them. It creates a justification for heavy defence spending (and associated money making).

Either to join India or Pakistan, there no option of an independent country in the UN resolution
And that's where the notion of a plebiscite falls flat on the ground, because if there was a choice, an independent country is what most would seek within the Valley. The belief by many of my Pakistani friends here that the entire troubled region of Kashmir is clamouring to join Pakistan is quite mistaken.

Jammu is Hindu majority (65%) and Ladakh has a sizeable Buddhist population (45%-50%). Any strife and feeling for 'azadi' is very much Valley-centric. However, I have a close Pakistani friend who visited Srinagar from the UK in July, with his wife and family. His wife's uncle is in the judiciary in Srinagar.

I asked him what it was like, what he came across, what did the locals say to him. He said that almost everyone he spoke to said that if they were to get azadi, that would mean independence. No one desired to join Pakistan, nor was there any love for India. The anger towards India was apparent when they mentioned the sacrifices they'd made, the men and women they'd lost.

What he did also mention is that India is investing considerable amounts within J&K, micro-financing and credit agreements to help with business creation are in full throttle, and infrastructure and expenditure is something the GoI hopes will win over Kashmiris.

Our infatuation with Kashmir despite the desperate troubles and problems we face continues to boggle the mind. I spoke to my cousin in Pakistan earlier and he was complaining about the load-shedding (1 hour on, 1 hour off). We're at the end of September, and load-shedding is still a daily cancer. Is that what we're waiting to bless those of Srinagar with?

LoC as the permanent border is the only realistic solution. Let's work to implement that, and let's close this sore chapter once and for all.

By the same way The population of Hindus in Karachi, Pakistan in 1947 was 450,000, of which 51% was Hindu, and 42% was Muslim. In Lahore the Hindu Population was 40%
