Kamorta class corvettes for VPN ?

Mate I have my own doubts that IN will release such stealth boat to VN, not because it doesn't hold Vn positively, rather because it will loose the edge against Chinese sub fleet.

Here's the article that was posted earlier. GRSE is currently offering to the Philippines an export version of the Kamorta class, just with different weapons and sensors, with a different superstructure to accommodate those different weapons:

Wow, likewise and thank you mate, I try, but I have to admit that some chinese members here often make me lose my patience.
Long live Vietnam-India friendship........ (I'm Spanish by the way, but living in Vietnam).

I have to say, I have a soft spot for India, I like many things about India and I enjoyed my time there during a visit many years ago.

My bad dear, I posted the wrong boat. If I remember correct, there were four new patrol boats inducted in IN. Forth boat hull is similar to what has been proposed for VN except that it will be enlarged version. And a member had qouted here correctly that Kamorta is GRSE product and patrol boat is GSL owned. VN will be getting the boats from GSL if I am correct. And end owner of these techs is MOD which oversees all the tech transfer and exactly same is going to happen in this case. As I said VN has still not freezed the requirements, so how much of tech from Kamorta will be integrated in this class is yet to be seen. And regarding 100 km range tarpedo, it is in testing phase and same will be deployed on IN boats. It can be transferred to VN also in same deal if requests for the same.

Thanks for clarifying. That makes sense. Newer OPV hybrid hull is no problem.

Your Welcome Sir...Love you Vietnam.......:smitten:...:ashamed:.....

Even I think newer OPV hybrid is also a problem, the OPV are designed for rescue and surveillance only, not for combat op against a frigate or destroyer. There hull not gonna survive a single missile attack even.

That's true, OPV hulls are usually not designed up to the survivability standard of a frigate/corvette hull. But when you are poor, like VN, you must make do with what little you have.

Although I think it would be better to go for that Kamorta version that GRSE is offering to the Philippines. It is still low cost but designed specifically with stealth against subs and enemy radar.

Very true, the Kamorta is one hell of a capable ship and is designed for very low noise operation.

Maybe going for a OPV hybrid hull is a lot more affordable, who knows what the Viet MOD is thinking. Buying over 6 ships will add up to a lot of money.

The Saryu class OPV only cost half of what that Kamorta export version will cost. So I guess the Viet MOD is going for quantity over quality.

Although, it is not too bad since some of those Kamorta tech, like IR suppression, can be used on these OPV hybrid.

True, I just hope they don't water down the weapon systems.

That's why I'm a fan of the OHP class. It's has a survivability rating of 2, just below the AC rating of 3.

An OHP took a direct hit from a AshM and still survived. Another one took a blast from a sea mine and survived too. I'm not sure an OPV can even survive shots from a 57mm gun.

But if the MOD is sacrificing the hulls to get better weapons and sensors, then that might be OK.

Dont know who is Rising Sun. But I can definitely tell you, new OPV based on Sukanya is not possible. Even buying them will be a idiotic move.
Sorry mate, I am a human being only. I do get confused some times when away from net for long. I meant new patrol boats but unintentionally i wrote Sukanya class. I apologize for that.

@Carlosa One thing, Suknya was never meant to deploy Dhanush ballistic missile, it was just a test bed, and only one ship changed to meet that requirement. And deploying a Dhanush with Suknaya in combat environment is not favorable,
I have stated on record that when Sukanya class patrol boat can house ballistic missiles and capability to fire it, I don't any reason that Sea based anti ship missiles can't be deployed on our newer patrol boat class. That is the point I was trying to make. And everyone is aware why we are developing sea based ballistic missile. Sukanya as well as Our older series destroyers are only a testing platform.
