World's smallest combat jet LCA Tejas' Mark-II avatar to be longer

How about appointment of 3 officers in HAL from airforce navy nd ministry of defense to monitor project on weekly basis.

Why not outsource MK2 and AMCA to private sector.

well the reason why it lengthened is because it can accomidate the ge-f414. seeing the differance between the mk1 and the mk1a its a good upgrade.but im not sure why it needs to take 6 years to lenghten the jet. also i thought the mk2 will be extended by 1 meter !?
They lack quality manpower to work parallel
HAL will be focusing on Mk1-A whose 1st flight is 18 month away nd scheduled delivery starts from 2019.

Gentlemen in simple english

a) Increase in fuselage means more power : weight ratio, Mach number increases do your math.
b) Centre of Gravity needs to be Calibrated once again, this means Back to Wind-Tunnel
c) Be Happy - More Electricity means AESA power Hungry monster will come in easy
d) Increase in Drag
e) Cowlings need to be re-designed as New engine will need more O2
F) Landing Gear needs to be seated again, weight centres need to be calculated.
g) This means Fuel pipe needs to be extended, this means fuel pumps need to be tested again....
h) Wiring for All avionics needs to be checked again.
i) This means Quatraplex FBW system goes for Toss and needs to be Tested once again for increased Hydraulics....

or simple language Pain in Arse....

But Gain will be massive, you are recreating a New Bird.

hi
good breakdown
most of what you say is true to an extent
just some points i like to expand/ammend

a) an increase in fusalage lenght does not increase the thrust to weight ratio. its the opposite as the increase in lenght means adding more weight thus reducing the thrust to weight. but the increase in power by the new ge-f414 engine would increase the thrust to weight. providing the extention does not add to much weight.

b) calculating the centre of garvity does not require a trip to the wind tunnel. wind tunnels are used to identyfy the aerodynamic makeup of the jet.

c) wrong aesa radars are more effecient than phased array radars. to put it simply aesas have less cells and because each cell is unique it means less is required.
below is a gripen which is fitted with a raven aesa radar. note how its noticably smaller then convention radars and that its fitted on a arm allowing it to move. but some aesa radars are not fitted to an arm. like the rafale.

d) ok you can have that one.

e) well it is getting abigger engine so bigger intakes will be required. i read that dassault will be giving some tech and help and it just so happes that air intakes designs are on the list so yeh, if it french its good. hopefully with any luck they put twin s duct on them as the current y config is old and sort of obsolete. as shown below

f) makes sense, and lets hope they dont have another mishap with the landing gears.
Tejas grounded after snag in landing gear | The Asian Age

g) well wrong. it needs a bigger pump to feed the bigger engine
India to obtain 99 GE F414 engines for Tejas Mk II

h) does not make sense elaborate please "Wiring for All avionics needs to be checked again."

i) wrong, the tejas is flyby wire.

It wasn't created to launch satellites.
It was nt made to finetune and test imported
Chinese rocket engine.

U can visit shaheen 3 thread to find details about chinese 1.4 meter diameter engine which were modified in length to fit shaheen2/3

Guess what..LCA is not exactly light..it is actually heavier than JF17 which has a metal frame...
Tejas is lighter by 100 kg.
But it has 300 kg ballast to balance.
700kg of extra weight in landing gear

Total 1000kg weight reduction in mk1a ll bring it to 5500kg

well the reason why it lengthened is because it can accomidate the ge-f414. seeing the differance between the mk1 and the mk1a its a good upgrade.but im not sure why it needs to take 6 years to lenghten the jet. also i thought the mk2 will be extended by 1 meter !?
clue : mk1 is still not FOC certified.

Tejas still has to cross mach 1.4 and 5g to demonstrate the robustness and readiness of it's FCS.

Post of so called failed state is screwing Indians, chanakiyas would always ends up with their butt hurt. Try flying lac, hope it will see some oxygen.
Ha ha. Go cry to your military. Fake democracy fake and rigged elections ridden failed country. :D

all said and done point is it will come in 2021 meaning china will also be fielding two 5th gen fighter jets that too with AESA
In Short:meaning LCA MK2 will be too little too late better focus on AMCA & AURA :coffee:

A really good, though succinct, post. Thank you very much.

It is difficult to understand what the alternatives could be. It is also difficult to understand which rational set of human beings will throw away such massive progress that has been made for the sake of some kickbacks and bribes. If the PMO and MOD are really thinking of other platforms for this reason, they need to be tried and shot.
current PMO & MOD are not corrupt like UPA which intentionally waisted 10 years by dragging LCA programme but now its late better go and put money and effort in AMCA & AURA i hope im not too offensive :coffee:

Typical delusional chutiya Indian who thinks he is the policeman of South Asia yet you can't take care of your own back yard. Calling failed state , that's how a normal chutiya living in India thinks about Pakistan, yet in spite of all your conspiracies and crying you could not do a fcuk about us, in fact everyday this failed state is becoming more n more stronger, your typical false ego won't take you anywhere.
@waz @WebMaster @Irfan Baloch @Slav Defence please take care if this in not abusing thewhat is had i done this with a member from pakistan would have i not been given the "pink slip" then why these double standards ?

in short with just 50-55Cm increase HAL is projecting MK2s entry in 2021 no wonder PMO & MOD have already started looking for "other platforms" as i said many times earlier apart from a couple of naval variants LCA MK1a will be the last of LCA series :coffee:

if they can do that which i think they can then LCA MK2 will be the best fighter jet till 5th gen fighters come in south asia
but bhaijjan its prety much next to impossible if not imposible to carry three developments at the same time working with russia on pak-fa& its varient fgfa &aura ,& now tejas-2

Tejas still has to cross mach 1.4 and 5g to demonstrate the robustness and readiness of it's FCS.

FOC certification is very soon, the time derby is integrated.. Tejas can clock 1.4 mach & 8 g with LSP 3-4 (´5 yr old version)

The platforms being readied for BIAS-2016 are LSP-3 and LSP-4, out of which one will be doing the flying duties and other on static displa

Flight-testing envelope will be expanded Ahead of the Bahrain trip, Tejas is expected to expand the flight envelope clearance to 8G and at a higher Alpha of 24 degrees and more. "These parameters allow the aircraft to perform at higher manoeuvrability. The demonstrations planned for BIAS-2016 will be different from Aero India 2015," says an official. If mission Bahrain finally gets cleared by Delhi on Wednesday, then DRDO-ADA has to quickly put in place the logistics.
