Bangladesh's Deep Sea Port Problem

LOL - "Brick Lane Posters"

The typical Indian retort when they have no facts to back up their arguments.

China will have 100,000 tonne nuclear super-carriers next decade and they will be regularly patrolling the Indian Ocean. Joint exercises will regularly take place with Pakistan, BD and Sri Lanka.

Just one of these huge ships will have at least as much firepower than all the puny Indian carriers put together. A Chinese CVBG that contains 2 of these carriers and the subs and cruiser/destroyer escorts will be even more powerful than the whole of the Indian Navy put together. I just laugh when silly Indians fantasise about controlling the Indian Ocean with their imported weapons .

China is an Asian power and it has a strategic interest in having a major presence presence in the Indian Ocean Region.

China cant even handle vietnam or the philippines in any decisive way....yet here you are projecting them as some unrivalled power in Asia....all because of the state of Bangladesh's puniness today.

At least it makes for good comedy.

Have you even read any of the actual white papers released by China w.r.t PLAN and the timeframes they involve for CBG's?

Bangladesh is a non-entity to China beyond selling a few old rusty trinkets here and there....they know Bangladesh political leadership is compromised by India and significant/entire portions of its military leadership too (just ask @asad71 one of your alleged war veterans).

Bangladesh is really an entity used by China to inform India of what its exact tech levels at the low/mid level end are.....basically a free demo for India to try out Chinese bulk military goodies and divert resources more efficiently in the larger interest of world peace and prosperity. Bangladesh has no long term strategic value nor does it have a leadership or people that can back up any strategic opposition to India like Pakistan provides. Better deal with truly understanding that basic reality before making wild projections and fantasies about the "next decade".

Btw, we have also discovered the RAW office for BD operation, it's in Bhowanipore, near my office!! The BD 'Professional' gave me all the details, :) only problem is that many well-built guys supposedly beat up anybody coming near that office!! :(

And how far the FENCIDYL factories are from your RAW office? Indian cough syrum poison is ruining the BD youth. RAW, fencidyl, Mamata Bannerjy, the govt. of India all are poisoneous snakes that are biting their friend named Bangladesh.

I don't yet know where the office is, asad71 told me it's there and if I go near it some goon-type security guys will chase me down! :(

Besides, we make cough syrup for cough, did Bangladeshis ask for our permission before using it for other purpose?

Indian businesses are rurunning at least five fencidyl factories within 10 km of our border with India.

By the way, can you tell us which deep sea ports India has built since 1947 August? None of India's ragtag ports can be called that.

Give me the addresses of those factories.

Dear Bangladesh, you are our friend, please don't become a 'pearl' in the Chinese 'string'....we are on to break the 'string' and chew the 'pearls', we just don't want to chew a friendly 'pearl'. :)
Pearls are hard to chew and break. Take care of your tooth. :p

I am seeing you here for the first time, just 19 posts, and you know so much about me? Have I started appearing in BD newspapers? o_O What is your other id? :P

I just don't troll like u in every post...and don't have the ambition to be a paper tiger in here...that's why u r seeing only 19 messages....if I just start answering your comments I will be a senior member in no time

Did you even read the article before having this verbal delivery?

The First thing is WHO IS THE WINNER.

We can analysis the topics but in the purpose of geo-political issue it will be harmfull for the south asian territory as a whole. IT not only Deep sea port but also related with Sant-martin and CHT area.

‘Asia pivot’ policy of USA has been to target China as a military ally of Russia and keep the Asian nations away from Chinese influence. Washington has been able to put pressure on Russia not to dominate the nations in Asia with military tie ups. In this respect, there is a stiff completion and even conflict among China, India and Japan to shift Bangladesh away from China.New Delhi, as a new “strategic partner” of Washington and rival of Beijing, now plays for America and claims that China is encircling India under its “string of pearl strategy.” And in line with Washington’s “pivot” against China.

China remains Bangladesh’s main supplier of military hardware, its largest trading partner and continues to make large investments in the country. Since 2010 Beijing has supplied Dhaka with five maritime patrol vessels, two corvettes, 44 tanks, and 16 fighter jets, as well as surface-to-air and anti-ship missiles. Dhaka has also ordered new Ming-class submarines that will join the Bangladesh fleet later this year. Beijing, recently granted a $66 million loan for two power distribution projects and the improvement of transmission lines in Bangladesh.

Thus Bangladesh has become the focus for increasing geopolitical rivalry between China, India and Japan—the latter two backed by the USA.

In line with Washington’s “pivot” to Asia, India and Japan are attempting to undermine Chinese influence throughout the region. Under pressure from the USA.

Obviously on instruction from the White House, Indian government is attempting to strengthen political relations with Bangladesh and undermine Chinese influence. The India government’s interest in Bangladesh is part of its “Act East policy,” which is backed by the US and aimed at aggressively promoting its interest in South East Asia and the South China Sea. Transit routes through Bangladesh would provide a direct land route from India to Burma and South East Asia. Bangladesh had previously agreed to assign the Sonadia seaport development to China. However, Hasina did not sign the scheduled agreement when she visited Beijing in 2014 because of pressure from the USA and India. Last month Bangladesh, signed a contract with a Dutch company to build the Payra port.

In 2005, US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said that China’s plans for Chittagong harbour were part of Beijing’s “string of pearls” that also involved a Chinese-built port at Gwadar in Pakistan, and facilities in Myanmar, Cambodia and the South China Sea.

Under pressure from Washington’s “pivot” against China and India’s integration into this increasingly provocative geo-strategic policy along with the expectations of great benefits form USA, Dhaka appears to be distancing itself from Beijing.

USA pushes other countries seeking some favors from Washington or NATO to absolute submission, by making them do exactly what the Pentagon-CIA-Neocons trio wants. India and Japan are doing exactly what USA wants in Asia. By insulting and belittling Pakistan after having misused it for terror wars in Afghanistan and elsewhere to kill Muslims, USA signals to India that it has wound up Pakistan ties in favor of ‘terror victim’ partner of USA. What is totally Wrong Method.

USA have increased the sale of terror goods to third world by escalating terror wars and unleashing world war propaganda

Under conditions of sharpening geo-political tensions created by Washington’s pivot, Bangladesh’s ability to manoeuvre between the major powers to advance its interests is becoming increasingly limited. Bangladesh, like Pakistan, could lose its sovereignty if it also plays into US hands, willingly or otherwise.

China cant even handle vietnam or the philippines in any decisive way....

China can annilhilate both countries within weeks but it does not want to do so.

Have you even read any of the actual white papers released by China w.r.t PLAN and the timeframes they involve for CBG's?

Forget white papers.

What counts is that China is building aircraft carriers, nuclear SSNs, destroyers(Type-052D) and cruisers(Type-055) en mass.
Chinese are hardly going to announce in advance that they want to build a Navy at least as powerful as the US.

.they know Bangladesh political leadership is compromised by India and significant/entire portions of its military leadership too (just ask @asad71 one of your alleged war veterans).

I am talking about next decade and not now. Anyway, the amount of Indian influence in BD is exaggerated to say the least. As China becomes a superpower next decade, it's influence over South Asian countries like BD would increase with a corresponding decrease in Indian influence

Bangladesh is really an entity used by China to inform India of what its exact tech levels at the low/mid level end are.....basically a free demo for India to try out Chinese bulk military goodies and divert resources more efficiently in the larger interest of world peace and prosperity. Why has China already offered tens of billions of dollars in low interest loans to build ports, roads, railways and bridges in BD?

Don't reply back unless you get a clue dude.

Apparently Bangladesh will have 3-4 of their own 100,000 tonne CBG's floating up and down the Indian ocean by 2025-2030.....in another thread!! I just love BD section!!

Btw, we have also discovered the RAW office for BD operation, it's in Bhowanipore, near my office!! The BD 'Professional' gave me all the details, :) only problem is that many well-built guys supposedly beat up anybody coming near that office!! :(

Paradise land is focus point for all. Fox's to Lion's. What is India We know that very well, And we are well know about Indian capacity. I dn't want to flash the flush . But F2F with any other state and regionally inside what is going on it is a matter for the comment supplier. We do believe in quality .

Let Japan build Sonadia sea port and other big projects like LNG Terminal, power stations and chemical/petro-chemical plants there. But, all BD people want a China-led consortium to build a large seaport in Payra.

Our economy has expanded so far by 6 to 6.5% per year which will shrtly rise to 7.1% as per the article report above. This mandates two new sea ports. So, we need both the ports. Payra will support foreign/local transport and trade with linkage to the western BD. It will also support the foreign trade of Bhutan and Nepal. On the other hand, Chittagong and Sonadia will combinedly support eastern BD, China mid-south, Indian north-east and Burmese north.

While Sonadia will have a natural draft of 20 meter or more, Payra is little shallow. But, a Dutch company is already doing the dredging work. I expect it to build sea walls in order to protect this area from being silted again.

talk to Hasina.....she has no issue selling her honour and allowing such a condescending "big brother" (bully) attitude. Thank God that strategy never worked on Pakistan.

You should learn from Pakistan's experience, they have screwed up their whole country in their effort to screw with us. Today they would have been doing far better if they were not obsessed about making that "K" in "Pakistan" a bit bigger.

Kashmiri nationalism is an indigenous phenomenon, you give us way more credit than is due. It's actually the other way around. The money you spend on a futile occupation in Kashmir you could have used to build some toilets for your people. 67% of your population defecates out in the open and here you are acting as if you are some super-power

67% of your population defecates out in the open and here you are acting as if you are some super-power

The number is below 50% a couple years back already and is declining rapidly now. Please use updated figures next time. Even better data should be available this year and next.

Not according to your own indian sources. But I wont go into that because it's a problem that affects you (literally), not me. But to claim that Pakistan pursuing its interests in Kashmir and providing moral/diplomatic and other support to Kashmiris as a reason behind stifled economic growth in Pakistan is beyond absurd and intellectually lazy. At any rate the support will continue and there's nothing anyone can do about it
