US to offer F-35 fighters to India

Really ........... If Us offer f35 for navy so we dnt have any AC that can carry these fighters before 2017 ... and i think that a big time we can develop our own Fighter ...

Or may be Russia is able to make Navel version of PAkfa till that time
Thats right...
But waiting for naval version of PAKFA will be a little over optimistic.
At best PAKFA will see the light by 2015-17 and 2017 FGFA, post which naval version will come into picture. So 2022...

Our second IAC2 is coming out much before that around 2017 or 2018 with delay. The best option to take will be Rafale with Meteor or Typhoone with Meteor.

Coz looking at the current threat perception, If Chinese navy operates an AC then they will field Sukhois on that. and to be honest if they field Sukhois then any of the ocntenders in naval MRCAs will not beat them in dog fight apart from Typhoons. So the best option lies in an AESA radar with longer rage A2A missiles.

Where typhone/gripen naval version are just paper planes for the time being.
The only opion left is Rafale which can be operated by IAC2.

And there you have an advantage....
The chinese navy threat is an example....

Though f35 is a good aircraft we should not go for it.
because we will have to be their rubber stamp in international issues.we will always be compelled to maintain good relations with US or else..sanctions.
we will have to depend them for spare parts no out side sources are aloud.
we cannot fit our own or foreign weapons in it.
so its always better to avoid so much strings.
we can opt for any other mrca sea varients and in future fak fa navel version.

Selecting, signing the deal, getting the fighter and training the pilots are not one day job. It will take time. So we should be ready with all these before the carriers are inducted.

Yea, but you can't even set parameters for a new acquisition program until you finalize the designs on the carrier. The carrier needs to be large enough and have a compatible catapult, both of which are unknowns ATM.

Yes..very true..
In fact i would like to have RAFALE with active stealth any day over F-35...

Will it come with complete TOT if not then India might endup in the wrong corner. Further more i think it would be not easy for IAF to integerate high end US tech as it predominantly uses Russian millitery hardware.

Secondly a potent and rising force like India should opt for domestic solutions and self reliance rather than spending huge money on something for which they have to depend on US in future.

Guys, F-35 is not a very fighter. Its currently the worst fighter ever.Even the partner countries who actually participated in the prgram are not wiling to take it and are afraid to use this.

Please dont buy any lightening. Its a waste of money and time.

When will people understand your not suppose to dogfight with the F-35 as its avionics suite outclasses all 4.5 gen fighters so it will destroy them before they can even engage in a dogfight. They are also far outclassed by the F-35 for ground targetting too. Making the F-35 a faaaar better aircraft then any 4.5 gen pick.

I thought that Lockheed Martin will offer the F-35 only if India selects the F-16IN in the MRCA Competition. Well lets see if they end up getting beans instead of the fighters.

may be or not be,they need contracts 4 this toy, india will have it's own 5th generation fighter after 5-6 yrs.

Well Australia is one country which is not happy about the F-35 (As stated by a former Air Chief).... They want the F-22.

Haven't you got your hands full with two stealth fighter programmes, 1 procurement programme en masse, one conventional domestic fighter and God knows what all?

Do you have any idea how expensive maintaining so many platforms would be? I am talking after knowing your air force's philosophy. This would be more than the fighter types you've operated (If you see the list of fighters Indians have posted on this forum).

Well But this is just an Offer.... India is very well busy with two 5th gen fighter programs .... But if this is accepted, it would be for navy not Airforce....

They won't get it...so it is either the F-35 or continue with the F-18 SH they are now inducting.

Never understood the australians. I mean their biggest adversaries are Indonisa whom the aussies seem to have pissed off big time and some unnameable islands they keep bullying. Y would they need raptors or JSFs anyway?
