MIG fighter makes first landing on INS Vikramaditya
A Russian-built fighter jet has made the first landing on the INS Vikramaditya as part of comprehensive sea trials the aircraft carrier is undergoing ahead of its induction in the Indian Navy later this year.

According to UEC General Designer Alexander Ivakh speaking at the Engines 2012 salon in April, about 70 engines of the RD-33 family were made in Russia last year. Their production is run now by the Chernyshev Mashine-Building Enterprise in Moscow. Previously, the RD-33 Series 2 had been in...

With the talk of a no-fly zone over Syria, the game maybe set for a final showdown between the Syrian MiG-29s and the hordes of NATO and Israeli Fighters. Most probably Israel will not take part in the no fly zone, but who knows, in the middle east anything is possible. Syria was supposed to get...
Glad you liked it.
Yup, they did.
Only 1 MiG-23, that too damaged. PAF sure likes to exaggerate its claims.
Pakistani Air-to-Air Victories
Just see the number of white unconfirmed kills without any proof in that list. In comparison see the Indian list, less number of made-up kills. PAF sure...
Had a wonderful time chatting with one of the pilots from Tridents Squadron a couple of weeks back. This squadron switched to MiG-29B when it started arriving in the IAF in the 80s but he said that they were the first squadron to receive the MiG-23MF, India's first BVR missile capable fighter...
Everyone knows the standards of 'The Hindu' with its defense reporting, which eventhough still not 100% accurate, is still the best in India by far. While OTOH there is 'Times of India' the largest selling newspaper in India, only because it panders to bollywood and sizzling news rather than...
I see. So the pic above was taken while the interception took place, and after intercepting and joining up, they were escorted to the air show. I wish it were an hostile interception rather than a friendly one, but never the less, one awesome pic!
It looks too flat to be clouds. And you could...
The -29s most probably didn't enter US Air space and were outside the 12 nautical miles territorial limits. These 2 countries routinely test each other scramble/reaction times by coming close to 12nm and then turning around just in the nick of time.
In case you are wondering what it is, the above pic is not from Star Wars or any other Sci-fi movie. It was a snap taken during the Interception of 2 Russian MiG-29s by 4 USAF F-15s in the Artic Circle near the Alaskan-Canadian Border. The 2 ufo-like shooting-star objects at the far end are the...
Sadly, I couldn't be there, but I had a friend hold his phone to the air at Bangalore's HAL airport as the LCA Navy roared into the air a few moments ago.
The NP-1 took off at 12.10pm on a 20 minute flight. The aircraft was piloted by Commodore J.A. Maolanker, Chief Test Pilot with the NFTC...
That's a relief, phew. A lot of sources state 500 mil as the cost hence the confusion.
"The Agni-V was built at a reported cost of Rs 25 billion ($486 million). It could be used to carry multiple warheads or to launch satellites into orbit."...
It is estimated that the “Agni -5 cost about 25 billion rupees ($ 486 million)".
The experts say India’s Agni missile -5 to confuse the public for the Chinese say the Department of – Military Frontier
It seems likely that it does include R & D. But there is not much R & D...
