Aero India 2015

Make in India too! Airbus plans major presence at Aero India 2015

From commercial and military aircraft to helicopters and radars, Airbus Group will present a wide range of cutting-edge products and technologies at the 10th edition of Aero India from 18 - 22 February 2015 at the Air Force Station Yelahanka, Bengaluru...

...On display at the Group’s pavilion (no OD8) in front of Hall C, will be scale models of the world’s most spacious passenger aircraft – A380 and the fuel efficient A320neo. Also on exhibition will be scale models of the A330MRTT mid-air refueller which has been selected by the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the C295 transport aircraft which has been offered to India, in partnership with Tata, for the Avro replacement programme. Two ‘Made-in-India’ products – High Accuracy Air Pressure Measurement System and Structurally Integrated Antenna – are also going to be part of the display line up. Both these products have been developed at the Airbus Defence and Space engineering centre in Bengaluru.

A model of the EC725 which recently underwent Field Evaluation Trials (FETs) for the Indian Coast Guard’s tender for 14 shore-based helicopters is going to be on exhibition too. The EC725, fitted with the relevant weaponry and sensor suites, can perfectly meet the Indian Navy’s 120+ Naval Multirole Helicopter (NMRH) programme requirements and the Indian Army’s 150+ Tactical Transport Helicopters’ fleet expansion plan. [Since when IA has an own requirement of Mi 17 class helicopters and what for when IAF has numerous of them on order??? :what:] In addition, there will be models of the AS550 C3e Fennec and the AS565 MBe Panther. The Fennec is foreseen for the Indian Army’s and Air Force’s Reconnaissance & Surveillance Helicopter (RSH) campaign which was recently re-started under the ‘Buy and Make (Indian)’ category whereas the AS565 MBe Panther fits the requirements of India’s Naval Utility Helicopter (NUH) programme which envisages acquisition of around 100 units. On the civil helicopter side, scale model of the single-engine EC130 T2 will be showcased...

we srsly need a more Uniform 'Equipment Induction plan'

EC725 - under evaluation of ICG, possible choice for IN, evaluated in the past by IAF for VVIP and even won the initial tender
C295 - under evaluation of ICG, IN, IAF and even won a tender of BSF in the past

One must wonder how much money was wasted in dedicated evaluations and tenders for the same kind of products?

There is no integrated procurement office in the MoD so what do you expect sir? Clearly a more sensible mindset needs to prevail...

Any guess, what will be displayed? Just tell and let's see, who will be the most correct? Will Rafale be displayed? Does any body know if the logo for each year show remains same or change?

Shouldn't be a massive change in what was shown last time except this time the IAF are likely to showcase their C-17 (Maybe the IN will do the same with their P-8I?). Hopefully the LCH (TD-2 if the TD-3 is engaged in flight test elsewhere) will make an appearance along with the HAL LUH.

The Rafale will almost certainly be there.

I have the following wish list, If any of members here going to AEROINDIA please please get answers.

1) To know when LCH will be inducted.
2) Is there any structural modifications on LCA mk2.
3) Status of Rustom-2 and is there any plan to arm it with missile.
4) AURA status
5) Whats next plan for Indian engine.
6) Status of MRSAM (IAF).
7) RLV-TS (ISRO) status
8) HSTDV status.

Finally,
Can we expect a AMCA in IAF by 2040.

Executive says the company will invest more to ‘make in India’

Bangalore, Jan 19:
Airbus Group will present a wide range of cutting-edge products and technologies at the 10th edition of Aero India.

The focus of the group’s participation in this year’s aerospace exhibition would be on highlighting its strong footprint in India and commitment to the Government’s ‘Make in India’ campaign.

The Aero India will be held on February 18-22 at the Air Force Station Yelahanka, Bengaluru.

“We have been used to partnerships in India as is shown by our long-standing collaborations with several Indian public and private companies as well as R&D organisations and academic institutions,” said Yves Guillaume, President-India, Airbus Group.

“We are enthusiastic about the Make in India campaign and are ready to leverage our existing local partnerships and invest in new ones to make the most of it. Aero India offers the perfect setting to discuss our plans to make in India with various stakeholders,” he added.

Airbus will also display scale models of the spacious passenger aircraft, A380, and the fuel-efficient A320neo. Also on exhibition will be scale models of the A330MRTT mid-air refueller, which has been selected by the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the C295 transport aircraft, which has been offered to India, in partnership with Tata, for the Avro replacement programme.

2040 is FAR too late, work has been going on (on a small scale) on the AMCA for a few years and should begin in earnest in the next few years. Induction should be targeted for 2030 at the latest. 2040 is a joke, by then the world will be firmly looking at 6th gen fighters.

The world has already started preliminary works on 6th generation fighters. USAF, RuAF, PLAAF is looking to field first 6th generation fighter between 2025 to 2030. I will feel proud if India can achieve first flight of AMCA by than.

I have joined first defence forum pakistanidefence, protonriver and keypublishing in 2003 and from that time I am hearing about MCA then AMCA, till now they could not even start field work of first prototype.

Indian defence R&D under Congress was stand still for 10 years. Our R&D regarding all kind of aircraft latterly sucks!!! They could not add even single new aircraft in last 10 years. IJT, Saras all are going down the drain.

Someone really needs to give danda DRDO, CSIR and HAL regarding this.

Look at China's Y-20, its a replica if much capable C-17 GM3..... simply awesome...

Bloody MTA talk is going on for last 14 years............... I have seen a video of MTA in 2003... no progress after that.

That's the problem and what I criticize for years, lets hope that Parrikar changes that.

If we induct AMCA on 2040 it will be converted as 6th gen features. Like look at our LCA today it has best EW suite , best jammer and head up display many many new features influenced by 4th gen fighter technology. Because Tejas may have been delayed but the technology was been upgraded to the latest . It's the only way we can create things. Old parts are not easy to procure. So its easy to replace their technology with present one .

Same way If 6th gen are as common as today's 4th gen our AMCA will have lots of 6th gen technologies. It's common sense. So not to worry . But I will also be happy to see AMCA flying by 2020 and inducted by 2024 . -_-
