Analysis: Will India’s S-400 missiles checkmate Pakistan?

Nope it can not be, Mar 1 has a maximum range of 100 kms, where as S-400 has a range of 400km and S-300 has range of 250 Kms.

A jf-17 carrying Mar-1 will shot down long before, it can come with in launching range of Mar 1.

The missile with a 400km range is designed to knock out big, lumbering aircraft like heavy bombers, AWACS or electronic surveillance aircraft, like the RC-135 that's been poking around Russian airspace recently:

But it's a big missile, and with increased size come decreased maneuverability. This particular missile is the long-ranged one. It isn't for targeting nimble fighters, it just can't maneuver well enough to engage them.

The smaller missiles sacrifice range - to the tune of roughly 150km - but gain vastly superior performance against nimble targets like missiles and aircraft:

So yes, S-400 does have a range of 400km, but don't think you're hitting a fighter-type aircraft at those ranges.

Implications of S-400 are mostly ABM related in Pakistan India environment. It cannot be used to impose no fly zone on Pakistan territory because it will have to be close to the border for that purpose. It cannot shot down an aerodynamic target beyond 200km which mean if deployed even 100km or 200km form our border, it will be shot upon by MLRs. S-400 has considerably large foot print which mean spotting them by spies is not going to be difficult. Only option for S-400 use is ABM shield for wide area including battle zone air defense.

Not true, S-400 can be deployed close to the border and can enforce a no fly zone deep into Pak territory, they can move in and out of secret under ground shelters and such places are a dime a dozen near the border. Secondly missiles like the 40N6 (400km) & 48N6 (250km) can be used to shoot down targets such as AWACS, Transports, Cruise missiles, Anti radiation missiles, 9M96E2 (120 km) is a highly manuevrable missile designed to take down fighters. S-400 fire units don't have a large foot print and can be deployed in less than 5 mins. They can pack up and leave in 5 mins too.

Regimental HQ can be 100 km away from a fire unit and these are independent with each deploy its own long range radars and FCRs. S-400 can tackle threats from MRLS, theater ballistic missiles and many more types of targets.

Simple equation for Pakistan. Conventionally we can never beat our arch enemy India. Conventional war is not our strength and never has been.

Pakistan needs to have a balanced approach as far as conventional weapons are concerned. Realistically we need a reasonable mix of hi and lo hardware which doesn't strain the economy too much. India will keep spending more and more on high tech weapons because it fears China and is being prepared by uncle Sam to take care of the policing role.

Pakistan's true strength lies in its credible minimum nuclear deterrence. This is the reason why you see the enemies constantly frustrated and angered. This, despite their malicious attempts to arm India conventionally to the teeth they cannot fathom a nuclear Pakistan which essentially throws out all their limited war scenarios out of the window.

Pakistan must continue to strengthen its nuclear capability in all shapes and forms. The nuke triad is our ultimate goal to keep all aggressors at bay. No stone must be left unturned to achieve this goal.

One effective way Pakistan can eliminate this threat in war is by usingMIRV missiles to target s400 Sam systems...but Pakistan has a Long way to go to develop such missiles...help from China maybe required...

That is the most logical and effective step for Pakistan.

Can't the MAR-1 and AGM-88 HARM be used to knock out these S-300/400? A salvo of good anti radiation missiles & cruise missiles will knock these systems out. Pakistan should invest in more anti radiation missiles and cruise missiles like SOM of Turkey and its own cruise missiles to overwhelm these systems.

Don't you think this can help too against S-400?

Highly disappointed by your post what a submissive approach we can defend our homeland and give india a lesson in conventional war when it happens you would witness it with your own eyes

Really.. Can it? The earth isn't flat .. It's round .. And S-400 can't do jack against low flying fighters with SEAD missiles.. 400 KM itself is for airliner sized jets... For fighter jets its around 150+km ... A Salvos of incoming arty or MBRL Fire ..

Try saving it from hundreds of MRLS & Arty rounds ...

Sir S-400 Works in C4IStar Environment With Network that Connects Awacs to Satt Surveillance.Fighter Is Limited To Use of "Terrain Masking " in Nap Of Earth More Less Fighter Will Be Detected at Sum Stage There are Special EW
that Will Detect Aircraft By there Radar Emission
Also There Are Dedicated Radar To Detect Low Flying Aircraft & UAV's

Ground Master 403 is a AESA mobile radar system manufactured Thales-Raytheon Systems offering detection from very high to very low altitudes. It tracks a wide range of targets from highly maneuverable tactical aircraft flying below several hundred feet to the unconventional small radar crossection devices, such as UAVs or cruise missiles India Has 20+ Such Radar

Elta 2084 EL/M-2084 is an early warning/target engagement radar that will be employed by the IAF for providing early warning of inbound tactical ballistic missiles and cruise missiles (both air-launched and ground-launched). A total of 34 such MPRs have been contracted for thus far by the IAF (the orders were placed during the 2009 Paris Air Show)

India also Operates ELM-2083 - Aerostat Early Warning Radar

The ELM-2083 is an operationally proven areostat-borne solid state L-Band Active Electronically Scanning Array (AESA) radar system.
The radar provides long range early warning and airspace control.
The ELM-2083 system enhances any ground based air defense network with the advantages of elevated sensor.

Features

  • 3D multibeam system implemented by AESA and Doppler measurement
  • 12 rpm antena rotation for fast update rate
  • Automatic Track-While-Scan (TWS) of multiple targets
  • High probability of detection by combination of mechanical rotation with electronic steering
  • Low false alarms rate
  • IFF system integrated
  • Advanced signal processing for:
    • Operation in heavy clutter and noisy environments
    • Operation in dense environments
    • Superior detection of low flying targets
  • High reliability, maintainability and availability
  • Extensive Built-in-Test (BIT)
  • Variety of interface options to C4I systems

PS: Countries Like Russia,US,China Has OTH Radars Coverage It Gave Early Warning Against Any Aerospace Threat From Thousand KM Away India is Also planning to developing Such Environment

The 400 km range of S-400 is for stationary target. Any missiles probability to hit a moving target deteriorates with distance

Stationary target?..lol.
It is a active radar homing SAM for god sakes, and not a dumb bomb.

Each S-400 regiment is protected in vulnerable zones with a regiment of Pantsirs (these are part of the package) which is especially designed to shoot down low flying highly manuevrable fighters and cruise missiles, again good luck breaking through these defences. S-400 is also degisned to counter sophisticated SEAD weapoins like HARM-E, so the MARS is piece of cake. As for MRLS, we have a far bigger arsenal of these including Smerch, Pinaka with thousands of rockets being produced every year.

More so, as said S-400 will be one big part of the layer, keep in mind there are plenty of Spyder-SAM, Akash and MR-SAM

No system is perfect but when combined carefully with others, a very potent system is put in place, one which PAF can't break without loosing about 70% of its combat force.
