Featured Azerbaijan and Pakistan JF-17 negotiations

This should be an absolute bloody no brainer for the Azeris. Give them 8 PAF Block ones immediately and 4 twin seaters, send over 20 PAF pilots, get them worked up very quickly. They will also be familiar with the engines already. Turks have flown with JF-17 too at Anatolian Eagle so can work with their E-7 AWACS. Then we can slowly deliver the rest of the order, but in the meantime they have a small element for air defence

we should introduce ban on export of Block III

Azerbaijan is too close to Israel and India is close to Israel

we could end up back firing here

max. should be Block II

Hi,

What a brilliant post---.

India is close to the US---so the F16's should be dumped---.

You normally don't comment much---but sometime there are gems that sprout out---.
The air force did the best by taking over this project. I think it was a great idea and successful for Pakistan to partner with the plane it had to buy to meet its low budget. As I said in another topic before, it is also a great choice for low budget African countries, but the countries you count will never want this plane. You don't have to blame the army.

Hi,

You are in error---. This aircraft is not meant for low budget air forces---but rather well off airforces---.

Those low budget air forces cannot afford the variety of weaponry this aircraft offers from top notch BVR missile in the arena SD10 to standoff weapons like Hatf V111 to CM400AKG AShM

Our enemy is well off and very well equipped with high end fighter aircraft---and this JF17 is to take them on and defeat them---.

Hi MK

lets move the discussion to relevance and application of JF 17 for Azerbaijan.
from Air force point of view Azeris have little to none challenge from Armenians.
maybe Jeffs tuned for strike roles / ground support should be priority (with WVR missiles for A2A role) instead of (emphasis on) BVR air superiority unless Armenians take a drastic decision and start modernizing and expanding their air force with French/ Russian jets .

@Irfan Baloch bhai

I have a different opinion. I believe we should help them develop a proper Air Force be it Armenia isn’t a threat on the scale we face from India. But having interoperability among Allies could give us a strategic advantage and some say in the geopolitical sphere of those countries. These small steps could lead to bigger coalitions and long term economic gains as well.
In all honesty we can station liaisons in their Air Bases to monitor who has access to these planes etc.

They are buying block IIs with AESA? Interesting, would give a lot of experience to PAC for upgrading our own block IIs.
Isnt block 2 upgradeable with Chinese LFK601E air cooled aesa?

We dont know that for sure. I have not seen any news of it. Its also possible that Azerbaijani may opt for a non chinese AESA radar. In any case, it will help PAF too.

Interesting that UAVs, which are doing much of the air strikes for Azerbaijan in this conflict are not featured amongst these figures of aircraft.

Hi,

Why wait till the armenians decide to go high end russian---. Why not take the bull by the horns---.

If we give them our best now---they will train on it---the armenians will get their aircraft---and then we will be able to sell or upgrade their aircraft to the next level up---.

In the weapons wars---you should not be caught chasing the enemy's procurements.

Mr. Baloch---many have underestimated the prowess of the JF17's.

My answer was to our esteemed friend from turkey.

Low oil price hurt Azeri economy bad. Unlike Russia which has a much more diverse economy, Azeri don't have that luxury. Azeri don't have money to buy JF-17.

I hope this news is true. The JF-17 will get another chance to be battle tested in A2G and possibly A2A if the Armenians so choose.

Putin just came up with a statement on Twitter that because the conflict is in what is considered Azerbaijan’s territory, Russia need not intervene.

If it is a rush order, from our current Stocks, it will probably be Block II aircraft and will be excellent marketing for the Thunder.

BTW, does the JF-17 have a NATO codename? I’m guessing it may end up being called the “JEFF”, as it is called by many on DCS.

NATO codes for fighters start with an F.

Such as "Felon" for SU-57 or "Fulcrum" for Mig-29.

Or "Firebird" for J-10.

Also, would love for Azerbaijan to get some JF-17 soon.

J-20 is Mighty Dragon so that goes your theory.
Its not a theory but actually correct as most or all communist aircraft get similar designations. Fighters had a name starting with F, helicopters with H (Hip, Hokum, Havoc, Helix, Hind...etc), B for bombers (Backfire, Bear, Badger etc), C for cargo/transport (Cub, Colt, Coke, Candid, etc) and finally M for trainers and misc aircraft (Magnet, Midget, Mare etc).

For fighters;
J-5 - Fresco
Q-5 - Fantan
J-6 - Farmer
J-7 - Fishcan
JH-7 - Flounder
J-8 - Finback
J-10 - Firebird
J-11/15 - Flanker L/X2
J/F-17 (no F designation as its a Pakistani fighter as well which is not a NATO adversary and goes by Thunder, what Pakistan named it).

The Mighty Dragon for J-20 is not a NATO designation but what the Chinese call it. Its NATO designation might be Firefang.

Since most of the older transports were of Russian origin, they retained their Russian NATO designations too.

Its possible the naming has now stopped or perhaps just not public knowledge for the latest Chinese transports and helicopters

What u have special in thunders that world dont have?

All tech availble in world. So time to earn buisness

Typical post by someone who doesn't know the abc of fighter jets or in fact not even basic understanding of software/electronic/electrical systems. Chama or Chamcha??
