Bangladesh allocates 300 acres of land for Saudi companies in EPZ

Bangladesh government has allocated 300 acres of land for Saudi companies in Bangabandhu EPZ.

Saudi Ambassador in Dhaka said this while addressing a function organised to observe the 92nd National Day of Saudi Arabia.
Referring to the growing economic ties between the two countries he said that a number of Saudi companies are lined up to invest in several mega projects in Bangladesh.

Over the years, the cooperation between the two countries has been consolidated through investment, trade programmes, education, culture, aid and defence sectors, he said.

Bangladesh was the first country to join the Islamic alliance in the fight against terrorism, he said adding that it resulted from the collaborative efforts and policies of the leaders of the two countries.

The Saudi envoy noted that the people of Saudi Arabia are extremely appreciative of the enormous contribution made by Bangladeshi labour to the kingdom's growth.

He also felt that around 2.6 million greatly contribute to the expansion of Bangladesh's economy through the massive amount of remittance they send home with the assistance of the Saudi embassy and with the support of conservative and traditional government facilities.

He said that he had initiated a drive to simplify visa issuing procedures in his embassy for Bangladeshis and now the Embassy is processing more than 4000 visas.

He also mentioned that the process for performing Hajj in Saudi Arabia has been simplified this year with the presence of Saudi immigration officials in Dhaka.

I'm happy to let you know that Saudi Arabia was the first nation to implement a biometric system using a way to gather medical fingerprints.

He also mentioned that Saudi Arabia was one of the top donors to the humanitarian cause’s across the world including Bangladesh.

It will be interesting to know what low-wage, high-value-addition, low-priced goods Saudis will make in Bangladesh.

That being said - 300 acres is relatively nothing in Mirsarai (Bangabandhu) EPZ.

The total area exceeds 35,000 acres. It is probably the largest EPZ in Asia, and certainly so in all of the subcontinent.

Here's a video of Mirsarai economic zone. About ten minutes.

1 sq. km holds 247.105 acres of land. So, 35,000 acres of land is 141.64 sq. km. You can say, it is 10 km x 14.164 km, a very large tract of land.

The video above says, most of this island has risen above the sea meaning it is mostly a new island in the BoB although Mirasawari is an old name. This island is a blessing from nature in a country with a shortage of land.

The EPZ authority has taken measures to construct periphery dikes around this EPZ. So, there is no way of seawater intruding inside the dike except during heavy cyclones.

What is wrong with these idiots!

BD should have as little to do with these Gulfies as possible.

Their backward and primitive culture is not one to emulate.
If you don't have problem with indians, you should not have any problem with gulfies too!

Investments from North Korea is welcome too...

Land has been allocated, big deal, no actual Saudi companies have taken it up…. Seriously why bother reporting such total non news….. why am I bothering to even comment…. Clearly I don’t value my own time….

What backward culture you are talking about here about the Arabs? How about our Golden Bangladesh? Do its people have a highly sophisticated culture and tradition?
