Blast reported in North Waziristan while a convoy was passing through. | Aug 2022 .

Op Zarb e Azab by Gen RS was focused mainly in in KPK and FATA region through displacing civilians (IDPs) and clearing those areas. Op Radd ul Fassad is country wide, the whole population cannot be shifted to a neighboring country till the completion of Ops. There have been 1,50,000 IBOs conducted in the first 3 years (17-20). the numbers would be averaging similar in 21 and 22. IBOs are conducted based on intel and surveillance teams and their reports, but the ISI is busy toppling Governments. Unfortunately, COAS Bajwa has taken Military, Paramilitary and CTD towards a bigger Ops than Gen RS as envisioned before start of the Ops RuF.

Was it a need of time or a blunder, you should be able to tell. If it was a need time, even then COAS Bajwas is wrong, and if it was a blunder to start the Ops, then again COAS Bajwa is wrong, since in your books Bajwa is the bad guy. Also, the brigadiers and colonels who were conducting commands in Ops Zarb e Azab are now Generals, I am sure Bajwa's incompetency trickled into them too. They at once turned from successful Brigadiers to greedy lusty Generals, haina. Has to be Bajwa instructions. Drop command files, pick up land and DHA files. But its alright, most of the members here have just not already made up their minds, they also don't understand an officers career (academics, OEI, ACR etc) and the conduct of a military Ops.

So Generals are sitting in their offices, infact WFH (working from Home), while the Brigadiers and colonels under them are leading troops. These Brigadiers and Colonels were majors and captains back then in Op zarb eAzab, they also didnt learn anything. They turned from successfully trained and accomplished military officers to property agents with in 1 year (16 to 17). Incredible officers, they can be turned into anything in a blink of an eye. One must salute PMA Kakul for providing programmable humanoids to Army.

But lets continue with your narrative, Bajwa is wrong, was wrong, will be wrong and no way in hell has he ever made a correct decision. In Ops Zarb e Azab, it was bit easy to send reserve formations from 1st and 2nd Strike Corps to target areas for Ops. Now, the the target areas is whole Pakistan so police (CTD) has to be involved along with FC and Rangers. The whole security set up of Pakistan is being tested. Bad decision by Bajwa as usual.

And by the way, terrorists are striking Pakistan repeatedly because they are being hit continuously where it hurts. You should come out of anti-Army Generals mentality to look at situation in an un-biased manner.

I know military well enough and how the chain of command works. A lot of these jernails have to sit silently and take their orders no matter what they think.

But let’s say that Bajwa is the bestest COAS that Pakistan has ever produced.

How has the supreme commander Bajwa allowed the TTP to infiltrate back into Pakistan after the successful operation lead by mediocre RS that drove them into Afghanistan in the first place?

I’m sure the supreme commander Bajwa had come up with some sort of contingency plan for this exact situation.

Or perhaps, cutting off the head of the snake doesn’t suit his purposes.

You do need a boogeyman especially after handing over Kashmir and trying to make peace with India. Otherwise people may start asking questions about military budget and that is unacceptable.

We are walking down the same path.

First drone strike in Afghanistan then bomb blasts in Pakistan. As if we had not had enough of bloodshed, economic loss and reputation damage, we are again walking into a disaster. Just because our establishment wants to be in good books of USA.

The problem in Pakistan is military leadership. Their lust for power and their obsession to control everything from foreign policy to politics has brought Pakistan down on its knees.

Thats not entirely true and its not only what Generals do, even commanders in the field (Maj or LT Col) do, they make decisions on their own also. If you know military well and how the chain of command works, would you tell me too ?

There are three factors here to be considered.

1. Op ZeA was in a particular area, where major anti-Pakistan faction was TTP and it was being hit. Pakistan has 4 provinces and AJK area. so 1 out of 5 areas was being cleared.

2. It would be a bit naive to think that Afghanistan was the only escape route TTP found in Op ZeA and that TTP was not operating elsewhere.

3. Op RuF is targeting everyone, not just TTP.

Whether you agree or not agree to talk with murderers like TTP, I do find it ironic, that just when Pak and TTP come close to potentially putting a button on a two decade insurgency, a TTP leader is summarily killed. Some parties out there dont want Pakistan to be in a position to define its own path, one way or the other.
You're fighting the proxies, so their 100% elimination isn't possible. You can minimize their effects though by employing advanced tech....

Military can afford.
PA should at least deploy IED jammers...

More than 550 people have unfortunately died in Baluchistan floods, they will not be discussed. 3 soldiers have been martyred, these will be discussed only because this gives a chance for mudslinging at Pakistan Army top brass. 1 TTP commander is killed, an enemy of Pakistan is sent to hell but just 3 pages, here its 4 pages coz not an opportunity to slip that awards a chance to bad mouth Military Generals or COAS.

Floods killed 550 people, then there were six who were martyred in heli crash. That thread for 6 martyred is longer than the one where 100's were reported to have been washed away by floods.

Just one chance, one opportunity, one shot - to malign Generals or COAS. Those hundreds can die in peace in floods. Not a word.

The details in media, at many times differ from reality, however yes IED jammer is a must.

Every incident can be broken down and the failures can be discussed.
IED jammers, both mobile and man portable, are being used for more than a decade now. Plenty of them everywhere.

My first sentence. I am never sure of the reality of what happened, when it comes from tweets or media.

You usually spill the beans to save the day.

Death trap hiluxes when will we learn.
It’s a generational struggle, which is why there will be no getting around the need for MRAPs.

MRAPs, with their higher clearance can also be used for civilian uses like flood relief, so they should be seen thought of as purely military.

Salala incident was deplorable and we should have responded but at the end of the day we are rag tag buoys infront of americans. Jis ki lathi uski bhens.
We replied to America. They got their reply in Afghanistan for years. The martyrs of salala were avenged. America did salala when there was talk about them invading tribal areas and we gave them the necessary reply. We let them know the consequences for such foolishness and they didn’t dare attempt. Not everything has to be done openly.

The issue of the need to protect the troops has been going on for decades. Not about the current leadership but not prioritizing the equipment that if the enemy knew our troops had, it might deter them from carrying out the attacks in the first place.

On the issue of the hundreds who have lost their lives in the floods. Your are right. It is a greater tragedy and deserves greater attention. It is also a reflection of poor governance and failure to plan for high probability events. In Baluchistan, who can we blame? We need to look at decades of leadership (at the local, provincial and national levels) that failed to plan for these kinds of events.

All the more reason we need long term planning, generational planning in both civilian infrastructure and law enforcement, as well as political stability. So these issues can be addressed in annual public reports.

So please don’t take some of our silence on some matter as ignoring the loss of life in the tragedies like the floods of Baluchistan. The whole goal of achieving political stability is so that the people can be better served. Every time, Pakistan’s politics/economy goes off track countless people across the country succumb to preventable situations. A lot comments on the floods will eventually come back to the political instability and poor economy. The sooner we solve the core problem, hopefully we can provide better for all. In the meantime, I hope aid is getting to the families that lost loved ones and those that had their livelihoods effected.

Also, I hope there are grassroots organizations that document the local causes for these tradegies so they can be addressed ASAP, despite the situation with the current government/politics., they should be pressed on the issue, and let all responsible stand on their records, regardless of whatever party or official is responsible.

Recent attacks are by the Gul Bahadur group which has a different thought and operational process when in comparison with TTP. These guys are smaller maybe a few hundred and use terrain to their advantage.

It's like BLA minus the social media presence.
Yeah their a much smaller group compared to ttp. Their closer to Haqqanis. Their not really much of a threat and are primarily in Khost border area. Many or maybe even most of the guys in this group are double agents for us (was told by ex Badri 313).

Just because our establishment wants to be in good books of USA.
A powerful Taliban minister pocketed millions due to the drone strike. Him and his powerful faction are behind the recent events in AFG. He gave green light to Markhors to eliminate these ttp commanders. Markhors have everything under control.

What's happening in Swat again?
P.S. a refresh of memory for people that under the nose of Musharraf, when Soba Sarhad was under MMA, criminals built tunnels in mountainous areas of Swat.

@RescueRanger
What possible spectrum of IED mechanisms these jammers can block, and what mechanisms they cannot block or are less likely to block?

A few I have seen on media are remote controlled, mobile SIM based, timer based, etc. mercury tubing for suicide attackers that raise arm as a trigger etc. (not IED though)
What other mechanisms are used?

Another thing I'm curious about is that when jammers block mobile signals, how does the crew make any necessary phone calls?

I also believe that increased vigilance and identifying patterns (like use of ladder to scale the back wall) can play significant role, and had some observations like below
Point is, IED jammers might be able to jam RCIEDs, but of course nothing can jam an IED connected with a physical electrical wire to its remote....that requires troops lining up along all the routes, like it used to happen years ago....but that requires more troops, means new surge levels, which will have its own implications.
