China - The world's hotbed of innovation?

we never claim who dont copy like you did in your numerous posts,so you dont claim moral high ground cause you also copy a lot and your new national pride is just a mere copy of China's.no country on this planet never copies, otherwise some countries must be still at stone age.

Thing with Chinese is they imitate and make fake copies right from eggs, milk powder to Indian pulsar bike and the list goes on.

India never does that it goes for JV's and come up with its own products and it is a slow and steady process but a solid one.

Location becomes a prerequisite and not ethnicity? So if an Indian invented something in a foreign country it's not Indian invention anymore? Even if he is supported by a team was he not the one leading the team or the one who made great innovation? If that's the case he sure doesn't deserve to receive the prize and the recognition.

The thread is about innovation and if he didn't innovate then you should rewrite this page.
Charles K. Kao - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dude, Indians in America had developed Hotmail, Pentium processors and many other things. They may be called an Individual Indian's achievement but still will be counted as American invention not India's. Mr Kao is a great scientist and he deserves Nobel prize and may be many other prizes but my point is only limited to his research work. You can certainly say it was a research work done by and lead by a Chinese but you will be wrong in claiming the research as Chinese innovation.

i never claim it was a Chinese research, learn to read man. A Chinese pioneer in optic fiber research that led to the evolution in high speed communication. From Vietcongs i expected this after being here for a while but surely you are not starting to copy that behavior are you?

Also hotmail is not an invention, E-mail existed before there was even hotmail.

Dude, this thread is about Chinese innovations and I asked about things that were innovated and made by China in the recent times. I made note of couple of things and then came across your post about Kao. I am not sure what were your intent when you posted example of Mr Kao in this thread. Honestly, when i read it, i thought that you are claiming it as one of the Chinese innovation.

Ok, my bad about Hotmail. I am not making any claims.

Is this thread about whether Chinese can innovate or what? Or is it specifically innovation coming from China (so if Indians innovated things in China, then to you it's still China's innovation?) You people here keep using the phrase "Chinese are only copycats", thus i'm assuming you guys are talking about the race issue not a country. Even in wikipedia it says "Chinese inventions", "Indian inventions", etc...

dont expect too much from those stereotyped China bashers

I understand, Sir. Mankind might always be like this.

But if you guys want to bash each other, why no do it privately? I've been lurking here for quite a while. Most of the time I look into a thread and after reading 6 posts I end up scratching my head say, "What the hell did I just read?" :undecided::laugh: Which is a shame because I come here for the news. This site is a great resource, a lot of the time, for finding out what's going on in the world.

I'm new here and I don't mean to overstep any boundries.

The companion to free speech should always be respect.

Buddy, read the title - It says China - The world's hotbed of innovation. That means it point specifically to the innovation coming out of China not whether Chinese can innovate or not. Chinese have done enough in history to prove the point but the problem we have is with the existing communist mindset of China where they keep looking for shortcuts.

There is truth in the copycats comments as well because till this point in recent times China has copied more than it has innovated but I think that is also a phase of development. I am sure once you are done copying, we will see innovations coming out of China.

What? Roman Empire >>>> Han Dynasty?

You people need to call Siegecrossbow over as it seems that he argues a lot along the line in Sinodenfence .

It is unquestionable that Qin Dynasty, let alone more powerful Han, was leagues ahead of its Roman Empire counterpart in almost all spheres one care to compare, being military technologies, general economics size and prosperity, general level of civil technologies, and I suspect GDP per head also.

Qin had much bigger population than Roman (fact!) , could afford much bigger army (fact!) , supported by much bigger economy ( free peasants-landlords structured economy Vs. still slaves-noble owners one, fact!) and much better civil technologies playing with much more advanced irrigation technologies in agriculture (fact!) , with world’s first steel-making at its late stage that the Western Europe was even unaware of for god’s sake (fact! Just take a peek at what Terracotta Army reveals)… with specialised world’s first and largest mass production lines humming of porcelain, silk, tea, …etc. Han Empire was even more powerful, was de facto “the USA” at its time.

However, it’s quite funny to see “Korean” quoted some nameless “scholars” from some unheard of and definitely questionable “sources”, to put it mildly, telling us that Roman Empire was far ahead of Qin and Han in GDP, even with already known much smaller population, less advanced overall civil and military technologies. How could that happen?

Sources for all of the above rants please. Thanks. If you cannot provide we will just have to agree this is your CCP taught version of history.

The sources listed in that post are the same sources as in wikipedia, so im quite certain they have some merit.

Civil technologies better? I'll call you BS right here. Aqueducts, irrigation, public baths/health spa's, sewers, heated floors etc, cobbled roads throughout the empire, working post system??? Did Qin or Han have that?
Military better? lol...you need to take a better look at all the military equipment that was built on every site. After every march, the legionaires built a fortification for the night....they had specially designated engineering squads....Also tactics were probably way better.

Funnily you mention mass industries of silk, tea, porcelain. i'd think making roads and aqueducts would create a much larger and significant industry on the side (cobblers, stonesmith's, engineers etc...)

Dont mind @rcrmj, he is just bitter. All the time. If you have a wish for meaningful conversation and an honest, objective one at that and not just the stereotypical "China great" type, but actually are prepared to acknowledge stuff from others you will have no problems. At least with me, i'm always happy to learn.
#edit: also dont call people Indians when you are out of arguments. Another stereotypical thing your compatriots are very fond of doing. We reach an impasse in our discussions and suddenly we are all Indians...

see case in point :

this Indian immigrant sounds quite amusing

he hasn't addressed one point, presented no valid argument, just went on to an emo reaction finished with an Indian comment. I tend to smear harder after that.

The thread may refer to the country itself but when people are talking about innovation they say it's an Indian innovation and not India's innovation generally. Guess we need to make a distinction what we are talking about if we talk about Indian innovation. It can mean Indian in India made the innovation or Indian in another country made the innovation. If we talk about India's innovation then it means it's coming from India and the ethnicity doesn't matter cause an American can be the one who made the innovation in India right?

Now, why didnt the Canadians think about doing this ?

Innovated by foreign capital. that's end of story. their is no administrational changes from 1980 China and 2010 China. they are still living in freedom-less society like NK.
