China's Worst Nightmare? Japan May Sell India Six Stealth Submarines

Buddy, come on, no need for this hateration. We don't bad mouth your subs... ;)

No matter how the western press keeps badmouthing about our nuclear subs, the reality remains unchanged.

The Type 091 no matter how obsolete it is compared to other nuclear subs, it is still a nuclear sub.

It has by far unlimited endurance which cannot be touched by any other AIP.

The Type 091 can also reduce its noise by reducing its speed, while Soryu in order to remain quite you can barely sail at 2-3 knots per hour.

Soryu has limited endurance and battery power compared to any nuclear sub.

India, what else you want? P1 ? ;)

LOL!

Come on man, there's no competition. Australia is ours... ;)

Australia prefers the german option. Merkel agressively advertised them and Abbott is interested.

German submarines are best in the world. And we have no anger with china. :D

Sorry buddy. This is business. In love and business evrything is allowed. ;P

Given Indian Navy's track record,it would be some luck if those subs didn't blow up in docks.

nuclear subs suffer heavily at warmer waters and are not as reliable as fuel cell submarines.

I have no bad feelings or comment on Chinese subs. You guys do what you do, as we do what we must. No need to bad mouth each other. ;)

China should shiver with fear. :D

No offense, Mr Admin, but how about making more substantial statements for or against the topic at hand? I am sure we will all like to be educated from your posts in matters like these.

These frequent one-liners just don't help. They are not even funny!

The AIP is only a cheap substitute for those nations who cannot acquire the nuclear sub.

We are now also building a large number of AIP, because it is relatively cheap and fast to build.

We have a large chunk of littoral waters from our coast line, so the AIP is more suitable to fulfill its role there.

However, to build up a true blue water navy, our main focus is still on the nuclear sub.

Then why the US won't build any AIP?

they don´t need attack submarines and have NATO. Germany is leading in the field. In shallow waters a fuel cell sub will always win over the nuclear one. Nuclear submarines are lozder and easier to detect. they create a trail of warm water for example. The engines and reactors create more noise. You must know what you want and need.

If you want global patrols then you need nuclear subs.

If you want attack submarines for defense you go fuel cell.

Since India can't make its own freaking submarines,it has to spend hard-earned foreign reserves on overseas purchase。

It does not make much of a difference if the subs are German,French or Japanese。It just further delays the day when India becomes self-sufficient in the makings of critical military hardwares。

The signing of the deal,if it ever gets signed, will take years。And the buildings and commissionings of the subs will take even more years or decades。

China's will be a totally different animal by then。:enjoy:

The 6 subs are chicken feed。:D

You are failing to see beyond the deal.

This deal or the news of this deal, even if not signed, is warning that Japan should not be taken for granted and she will sell weapons, if "circumstances" deamnd.

As far as self reliance is concerened, we are on right path, LCAs have been handed over to IAF. I am not even notcing numerous breakthoughs India has achieved in recent years.

I dont think that is big nightmare fot China. But Japan breaking in to global arms market would be a certain nightmare for China.Entire world knows the capabilitity of Japan in Technology.
Onceif they are successful in Australia and India. You can expect same in Vietnam and other SCS nation. Trouble for China.

@Nihonjin1051

And they have USN and JMSDF in SCS .50 sub is nothing compared to them.

And that is what some members are failing to see.

I think you miss reality. A fuel cell submarine is more expensive to build. Nuclear power is primitive technology. It has its areas where it is usefull but fails terrible at other areas. A nuclear submarine is not able to operate in shallow waters, has problems in warm waters. Creates a warm water current easy to dtect and creates more noise. a nuclear submarine is useless as attack sub. its for patrolling and guarding carrier groups.

Stealth is now just a word, everything is stealth, stealth frigate, stealth corvettes, stealth DDG. I mean it's popular now, it doesn't hold much meaning since everyone's ships and subs are stealth now, but it makes people feel better.

Australian government under pressure to hold submarine tender after eyeing Japan deal| Reuters

The Japanese subs are quite good, Chinese subs aren't as good, but it's not a big difference now days. It exists.

We are good at some things, and they are better at more things.

It's just an idea, nothing is in stone, in writing or even at this point, in words.
.

The Aussies are not doing this becuz of Quality issues
Prime Minister Tony Abbott is under pressure from regional officials, labor unions and members of his own party to have an open tender to build Australia's next-generation submarine,
