ISLAMABAD: The Civil Aviation Authority has made it compulsory for international passengers arriving in Pakistan to provide coronavirus test results prior to boarding their flights.

A notification from the CAA confirmed that "All international arriving passengers to Pakistani airports shall be required to provide a copy of test result for the COVID-19 through RT-PCR conducted during the 24 hours prior to boarding the flight."

The requirements will come into effect from March 21, 2020 as per the notification.

The copy of the test result should bear the name and passport number of the passenger and the original result will be provided to the disembarkation airport in Pakistan.

The CAA said that it will be the responsibility of the airline operators to ensure that all passengers have provided a copy of their tests before boarding the aircraft.

Besides, the CAA said that passengers will also provide at the disembarkation airport in Pakistan a completed health declaration form.

The authority called on airline operators to ensure the disinfection of the aircraft as per international procedures between each disembarkation and embarkation of passengers.

Further, the CAA announced that international flight operations will resume at all international airports in Pakistan except for the ones at Gwadar and Turbat.

Pakistan had decided to suspend all international flights to all airports in Pakistan except Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad. This, too, will come into effect from March 21, 2020.

Fyi.. @Indus Pakistan

A country where PM /CM can hire fire people within institutes, is called banana republic.
Independent institutes are basic ingredient of sold foundation upon which progress can be constructed, slowly but steadily.

hey not everything is about trump... stop calling the USA a banana republic. The mentally challenged have feelings to you know!!!!

jokes aside this is a real test where spin and lies have no place. Only efficiency . The virus does not care if you are a Democrat, labour, mqm, Republican, conservative, pml-n or JUI it cares if you were efficient on not .

how I wish Shana’s sharif was in charge in Punjab!

Imperfect solution as the test can be falsely negative initially but positive at the second attempt. A single negative result does not guarantee that a person is not silently carrying the virus.

I have no medical background, so I dunno how it works and what this test is.
Though, I was thinking about 3 things:
- Where will be the test? Lab or Airport?
- What if a person gets infected after taking test?
- Why make it effective from 21 March and not now?

PS: The person(Kaptaan/Indus Pakistan) I tagged is travelling to Pak in 2-3 weeks. Hopefully, things would be much more clearer and better by then.

Yes, things are not looking good. I really can't defer this visit so hope everything works out.

Unless I or my mum get it. In which I will have no option. My mum is 80 so that would be matter of concern.

At least 38 Afghans who recently returned from Iran and were in isolation escaped from a facility in western Afghanistan on Monday after breaking windows and attacking hospital Staff.

Finally after 2.5 months, ... they are waking up due to all around criticism.

this virus has already entered small towns and spreading fast.
BTW what happened to airports screening.
Hogwash... that will be used as tool to make money.
Everyone is corrupt at air port, starting from sweepers to parking ticket guy to the guy who stamp passports and most of above the govt. it self. with humongous airport taxes.
So.. don't have expectations, don't take things for granted in Pakistan.
Rules are there for the weak, while politicians and their kith kins are above the law.

yeah! it is true

Well , You found some excuse too blame Iran ....

Do you deny any of the above facts which I stated?

When has Iran (post-revolution) ever helped Pakistan? How does an Islamic republic become allies with a Mushrik Hindu state to fund terrorism against two fellow Islamic republics, Pakistan and Afghanistan?

Pakistan and Pakistanis have had enough, the gloves are off. A harsher line will be seen from Pakistan from now on.
