Does PN need any separate air-striking force and base?

Mercenary;sir

Since the Saudis are getting 72 Eurofighters, we should ask them to sell those Tornadoes to us.

plz, clean your head, from these kind of, unrealistic kind of thoughts, its not going to happen, those Tornadoes " were not arabian hourses, which can be gifted to pakistan":enjoy:

wiht Mr.Z on the highest seat in pakistan and keeping in view his relations wiht the saudis, i doubt they will even be willing to gift us the arabian horses any more! ;)
the results of the saudi and other arabian states response in the "friends of pakistan" conference is a clear example! :tsk:

If Pakistan can afford to build a nuclear programme and a missile programme then it can afford an aircraft carrier and the task force that goes with it.

^^ the only reason why countries have air craft carriers is to project power

Pakistan has no such need or desire to do so...

The military of Pakistan is designed to be a defensive military with limited offensive capability

If Pakistan gets an Aircraft Carrier, it will bankrupt Pakistan faster than Zardari

we not taliking about carriers.!
we r talikng about addition of jet sqad in PN for its own use?

no need for PN to get a base.

airforces around the world protect air/land/sea. all three.

PAF has the skill to do it, but our bad govt. policies are not getting them enough hardware and planes since there's less money for those brave ppl.

PN needs more vessels to defend and also to attack.

i think there is no need of an independent base for PN but yes a new PAF base near coast will be helpfull. for better results, we can put it under naval command and keep the PAF staff wiht PN on deputation as i have already mentioned!

regards!

Separate bases and fighter squadrons for PN are not required, instead PAF and PN should be able to work as a single combined force.

How I think they will do/are doing this:

- Modifying their doctrines to take into account that PN requires air cover from PAF, and PAF is required to provide that air cover. This means developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for:
--- PAF ensuring PN always knows what assets are available to it and for what purposes: defensive, offensive, etc.
--- PN ensuring PAF knows how much of those assets it requires at any given time and what PAF must do with them.

- Implementing technologies on PAF and PN assets (ships, aircraft, bases, etc) that enable them to implement the above SOPs:
--- Identification: compatible IFF (identification friend/foe) systems
--- Communication: radio/data links capable of communicating all kinds of information, from simple instructions to targeting data, etc.

- Training in exercises where fast-paced combined operations is necessary to complete the objectives. SOPs must be modified if needs be, they must not hinder the pace of operations in any way.

they already have seprate base Msroor and Pns Mehran but what they lack fighter jets only few mirages they use along with P 3c Orion

as has been suggested already the best option currently is to let the PAF depute a squadron to the PN for maritime strike role. however the current inventory of PAF is not well suited for this. single engine aircraft usually dont have a very large payload and that severely limits their ability to carry anti ship weapons and the quantity of fuel.

unless the J11 or equivalent large aircraft are inducted, the best the fighters being deputed can do is keep the IA away from the coast. to really scare the IA away from the trade routes , PAF needs better maritime strike capablity than what it currently possesses.

the reason

not sure whats paks reason to stick to single engine fighters

budget and maintenance.

This forum has got lot of Twin engine fans BUT

F-35 has a naval version too and it is a SINGLE engine AC.

A little off topic

but just as the members are discussing trade routes.

What are the chances of Pakistan leasing a port ( or navel base ) to china? Don't you think during war time India will have to think twice before blocking that port ? in that way the Chinese can have what they are aiming for and in return Pakistan gets one secure port?
