Ex President and Ex COAS General Pervez Musharraf Passes Away

Former chief of army staff and President Pervez Musharraf has passed away on Sunday at American Hospital in UAE after a prolonged illness.
Local media reports quoting his family members said the former four-star general succumbed to Amyloidosis. He was hospitalised for a couple of weeks due to a complication of his ailment, per reports.

Musharraf was the tenth president of the South Asian nation after the successful military coup in 1999. He served as the 10th CJCSC from 1998 to 2001 and the 7th top general from 1998 to 2007.

Hi,

May Allah bless his soul---. A true lover of Pakistan---got sabotaged by some of his team members---.

Should never have promoted Kiyani and going against the advice of someone very important to him

I remember that controversy from the early days. I told a friend after they changed it to OEF (Operation Enduring Freedom), they can name it whatever they want; it's just putting lipstick on a pig, whatever they call it.
Hi,

It was not as simple as that---.

The american doctrine changed---from taking out OBL and leaving afg to conquest of afg and staying put in the region---.

That is why OBL was allowed to escape from afg---even though he was under live surveillance for awhile---.

Saw a video today on an Indian channel: Musharraf was the most anti-India leader Pakistan had. Perhaps--but there is a close contest between him and Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto: Bhutto led Pakistan to 1965 and Musharraf to 1999. Both were futile but Musharraf's folly is particularly unforgiven because he should have learned from Bhutto's folly. Vajpayee came to Pakistan to make peace and even went to Minar e Pakistan in 1999 which was as an admission of the required acceptance of Pakistan as a State. The only defense for Musharraf is that he was angered by the Indian aggressed in 1984 in Siachen Glacier where Musharraf was involved and he wanted to payback India via Kargil. Indians are not some peace-loving doves at all . You give them an inch and they will take a yard.
Well, that's a perspective!! Peace only comes through understanding each other. Ask Germans and French!!!

Anyway, ask any Indian or Bangladeshi here--they are very likely to agree it is not the damned corruption but the lack of stability which is afflicting Pakistan. But morons here thought that Imran Khan's mantra about 'corruption' and the 'trial' of the previous idiots was the panacea for Pakistan. It was not then and it is not now!! Governance and stability are the answer!!
You....you... mean Bajwa - rather than IK - was right all along? :o: (about corruption)

What heresy!

It is offtopic but: I have not followed this 'Bajwa' vs 'Imran Khan' narrative because I thought it was pure BS by Imran Khan!! The Pakistani military acts as a unit, right or wrong. But Imran Khan, having spent considerable time in the West, took a look out of the Necons' way of promoting his narrative; Divide and Rule. Libyan people good, Qaddafi bad. Syrian People good, Assad Bad. Iranian people good, the mullahs bad.

RIP Gunner.

Met him when he was Comd 1Corps, his handshake was iron grip and he was very friendly in conversation.

Had to chance to meet him again during regimental dinner of 16 SP Regt in Bahawalpur after many years, but couldn’t go.

How old are people here?? Even before Musharraf, the civilian govt in Pakistan had turned someone over to America (was it Ramzi from Quetta?). It was nothing new. Pakistan had always cooperated with the Americans to turn over people. After 9/11, the scale simply increased in that cooperation and for understandable reasons. The snakes which the Pakistani military and the American CIA nurtured in Pakistan and Afghanistan in the 1980s had started to bite the hands which had been feeding them. No grand conspiracy is needed to explain that and only to acknowledge that it was not just Pakistan but a large part of the world which had caused what happened in Pakistan and Afghanistan. But only an idiot mullah like Zia ul Haq couldn't see that to radicalize an already fundamentalist population in Pakistan/Afghanistan and then allowing such people in millions to live in Pakistanis cities wouldn't have severe consequences; Iran also supported the 'Mujahedeens' in Afghanistan but maintained a strict control over the refugees in Iran, unlike Pakistan's stupid Zia ul Haq!!!
Hi,

Nawaz turned over Ramzi to the US.

His greatest achievement..... freedom of press.... But Gujrat ka chaudry destroyed his political carrier by giving NRO to known corrupts.

Hi,

Nawaz turned over Ramzi to the US.

Thank you.
When international terrorists reside in Pakistan and kill people in a Superpower or their allies then there are retributions. People like Bin Laden brought the Arab-Israel conflict to South Asia, took shelter in Afghanistan, and used Afghanistan as a sanctuary to attack the sole Superpower here and there. All that time, the 'Pashtunwali' culture Taliban were sheltering such Arab idiots. Pakistan had no stake in Bin Laden or Al Qaida and indeed under Benazir, Nawaz, and Musharraf Pakistan tried to convince the Taliban in Afghanistan to not be in bed with such elements as there would be a blowback. Pakistan even helped Bill Clinton to take out Bin Laden but Bin Laden barely escaped. Americans are very well aware of all that and that was before Musharraf!! Unlike the Taliban, the rulers in Pakistan knew of potential consequences for Pakistan which was/is dependent upon Western and the West's allies trade.
Also, some myths to be broken: Pakistan had every interest in backing the Taliban in Afghanistan in the 90s but that had never translated to supporting the Arab/international terrorists in Afghanistan in Mullah Umer's Taliban regime. What kind of idiots the Taliban were?? Before 9/11, Al Qaida had already attacked or attempted attacks on America. So why would people deny Al Qaida wouldn't do the 9/11 attack? When the terrorist tried to cross from Canada to America (Port Angeles?) in late 1990s, it was evident they were very aggressively looking to cause a major damage in America which they did soon after that.
