Gunmen shot dead an Afghan former lawmaker and one of her bodyguards in the capital Kabul in a night-time attack at her home, police said on Sunday.

Mursal Nabizada had been a member of parliament in the US-backed government that was overthrown by the Taliban in August 2021.

“Nabizada, along with one of her bodyguards, was shot dead at her house,” Kabul police spokesman Khalid Zadran said.

“The security forces have started a serious investigation into the incident,” he said, adding that a brother of the former lawmaker was also wounded in the attack, which took place during the night between Saturday and Sunday.
Nabizada was a “fearless champion for Afghanistan”, former lawmaker Mariam Solaimankhil said on Twitter.

“A true trailblazer — strong, outspoken woman who stood for what she believed in, even in the face of danger,” she wrote.

“Despite being offered the chance to leave Afghanistan, she chose to stay and fight for her people,” she added.

Nabizada, 32, hailed from the eastern province of Nangarhar and had been elected as a member of parliament from Kabul in 2018.

“I am sad and angry and want the world to know!” tweeted Hannah Neumann, a member of the European Parliament, in response to the killing.

“She was killed in darkness, but the Taliban build their system of gender apartheid in full daylight.”

Women had worked in prominent positions across Afghan society in the two decades since the US-led invasion of Afghanistan, with many becoming judges, journalists and politicians.

Many women in such professions have fled the country, however, since the Taliban returned to power.

Taliban authorities have rapidly squeezed women out of almost all areas of public life, banning them from secondary and higher education, public sector work and even from visiting public parks and baths.

They have also ordered women to cover their bodies in public, ideally in an all-encompassing burqa.

Now imagine trying to turn Pakistan into this. This is the inevitable end that all those gazi's, on PDF, desire to turn Pakistan into a theocracy.
RIP brave woman, you are inspiration to us to make sure we fight against the evils us people trying to turn us into a 7th century theocracy.

Afghans are just retarded. It has very little to do with religion.

Remember that the Prophet Muhammad’s (saw) first wife had her own business and he worked for her.

Please don’t turn into a Tucker Carlson yourself.

How much better are we?
How many stories of honor killings, destructions of temples, blasphemy lynchings, etc do we have?
While Afghans are indeed worse, we are not much better. The only difference is that we have a few sane people stopping us from going the Afghan way.

While that may be true, how can one link that to religion? In fact, it’s the very opposite. If people followed Islam, none of these things would be happening.

Theory doesn't matter, only what is reality.
In theory if everyone drove the speed limit and wore there seatbelts we would have almost no car deaths.
But that is not reality so we need cops out there enforcing it.
Same with religion, in theory people should not be doing this stuff under the guise of religion, but they do! So we need people opposing them.
Religion is a very powerful tool for good AND evil.

There are many muslim majority countries where these things are not happening. What does that tell you?

Majority of Pakistanis and Afghans are just uncivilized.

Who cares, this is one more enemy of Pakistan removed

Afghans killing afghans is not our problem, these people have been spitting poison against us for decades, and beyond securing our own interests and needs what happens to afghans should mean nothing to us

Please don't weaponise the murder of an innocent woman in Afghanistan ruled by tribal facist extremists to push your own political agenda.

That's sick. May she rest in peace.

Honestly we are both not representative of ideal or good people, but to even put Afghan and Pakistani in the same boat is unfair

They are on a whole other level of uncivilised

In some aspects, the cavemen have a better legal justice system than Pakistan. That’s not only pathetic but laughable at the same time...

There are a lot of batshit crazy stuff happening in all Muslim countries, from honor kills to lynching and more.
But more importantly, Afghanistan is an "Islamic Emirate" while Pakistan is an "Islamic Republic"
They are the end state of a theocratic ideology.

Wouldn't disagree but i wouldn't say our current leaders are actually representative of us - most people openly denounce them.

Meanwhile girls are banned from education, locked in homes in burqas, homosexual molestation and wife beating is incredibly common, etc, over in A-ganistan.
