IAF to deploy Apache strike helicopters at Indo-China border

personally, i favor this beauty--ka-50 black shark, but the Russians did not offer this machine to India, and in many aspects, this one is far better than Apache.

But in most aspects it is far inferior to the Apache, especially the AH-64E

that's debatable, i have seen in many discussion forums the debate on Apache and ka-50, many guys favored Apache, and many were in favor of ka-50, but one thing is sure, the superiority of Apache-if any- is not overwhelming in comparison with ka-50.

ka-50 is highly regarded for its maneuverability and agility. Not to forget the coaxial rotor of Ka-50

Coaxial rotors

One other benefit arising from a coaxial design include increased payload for the same engine power — a tail rotor typically wastes some of the power that would otherwise be devoted to lift and thrust, whereas with a coaxial rotor design, all of the available engine power is devoted to lift and thrust. Reduced noise is a second advantage of the configuration — part of the loud 'slapping' noise associated with conventional helicopters arises from interaction between the airflows from the main and tail rotors, which in some designs can be severe. Also, helicopters using coaxial rotors tend to be more compact (occupying a smaller 'footprint' on the ground), though at the price of increased height, and consequently have uses in areas where space is at a premium — several Kamov designs are used in naval roles, being capable of operating from confined spaces on the decks of ships, including ships other than aircraft carriers (an example being the Kara Class cruisers of the Russian navy, which carry a Ka-25 'Hormone' helicopter as part of their standard fitment). Another benefit is increased safety on the ground; by eliminating the tail rotor, the major source of injuries and fatalities to ground crews and bystanders is eliminated.

I explicitly stated the Apaches advantages over the KA-50 and one of them isn't necessarily agility. Yes the Kamov may put on a nice show but when it comes to all-rounder ATTACK helo, the Apache is unmatched- it does what it says on the tin.

I have bad feeling that these helis will not be more agile than compact helis. We should do something to suppress there signature so they are bit safe from MANPADs. Chinese always believe in large no there this kind of helis are going to be over powered. For this purpose we need no which this heli can't provide but it can provide the backbone to control others helis but in that case we need more helis again. So can person put some light what will be its role considering a full scale war in AP?

Sir, the AH-64E is the very latest and most advanced attack helo out there. Have no doubt its self-protection suite will be top notch and the best out there.

"AH-64E is the very latest and most advanced attack helo out there/" no doubt here mate.
but problem is here that can it sustain for long because Chinese believe in numbers. When it will be facing MANPADs from all corners, will it be able to hold on its own considering we are purchasing less no of these helis. If we have to counter attack Chinese then we have to make sure that we have numbers which we will save from first wave Chinese attack. This is the point.

MANPAD aren't that successful as you make it out to be, unless they're firing that in salvo, and can be fooled easily by deploying chaffs and flares. And Apache is loaded with ECMs and other protective measures to neutralize such threats to some extent.

I saw a video couple of months back, Russia had similar ECMs for helicopters with 100% efficiency against IR seeking MANPADs.

Very interesting indeed, welcome your new high tech Apache to the border, we're looking forward to any encounters, will be interesting to add few Apaches into our collectiion.
