Iran to supply Russia with “hundreds” of Drones

FYI for the lads here, don't think 2 UAS over Odessa was the only thing that happened today. We did not give them 50 flights worth of UAVs so they can use them two pieces at a time.

A UAS was also downed around Dnipro which is hundreds of kilometers away from Odessa. These are the videos we know of within a very short time frame.

it would be naive to assume that a large swarm attack (which is what this was made for) was not performed along the whole front from Kharkiv to Odessa going to various places. We already know they were used in Kharkiv region first recently.

I'm guessing the losses from todays attack caused Ukraine to cut the relations down now (speculation).

Unfortunately the Russian MOD is completely silent about what they are doing, leaving us with only Ukrainian and general western sources.

Not only cutting down relations but Zelensky also strongly lamented Israel for its lack of military support to Ukraine, especially air defense systems. So you may be right.

Seems like a transfer of technology has been agreed.

Our source reports that the Armed Forces of Ukraine lack air defense, and even more so on the front. UAV breakthroughs became more frequent, which began to increasingly nightmare the Armed Forces of Ukraine, inflicting pinpoint strikes.
The President's Office responded by depriving the Iranian ambassador of accreditation and significantly reducing the number of diplomatic staff of the Iranian Embassy in Kyiv.
This is a response to the transfer to the Russian Federation of the full range of data on the development of Iranian drones, which have now appeared en masse among the Russians. We insided about this back in the summer, warning.
One plant can produce more than 50-100 pieces of Geranium-2 per day. How many such plants russians have already appeared is unknown.

Third shahed raid wave was ongoing today in Odessa after the dusk. Residents from Odessa report on social media and messengers

Interesting.

I should also add. The Ukrainian MOD is claiming they down 6 Shahed-136's today. Just today. This likely means a swarm attack was launch today across the whole theater wide assuming what they say is true (which is probably exaggerated)

We see 2 visually confirmed interceptions, one of them in Dnipro area. and another looks shot down in unknown area. We also see an impact in Odessa, possibly 2 impacts. Where would the others been shot down? Likely in other areas where they were not filmed.

6 downings would be a bit more than a single shipping container launcher, which is a tiny portion of true launch capability. If true, this isn't even a big deal cause this is designed to be mass produced far more than anyone can produce interceptors for them.

We had not heard anything from the S-136 since the latest Wall Street Journal and NYT article, which talked about large scale strikes that occurred. No videos.

The likelihood that a few dozen were launched today towards different areas I think is quite high, and they are probably reloading for another round to use at an unknown time.

I can't say for sure how they are using them, but the purpose of this UAS was to be used in large scale swarms and operate across a large theater space. Therefore I expect the IRGC to have trained them for this purpose and today was the day a UAS swarm was launched once again after completing some intelligence gathering of approximate UKR positions and assets.

To note, if they say 6 were downed, one must ask now.........how many were used against you? 20? 30? 40? and how much did it cost you to intercept them. The Russians will exhausted their AD, and free up space for traditional aviation, don't be surprised if you see aviation activity pick up in future.

My guess the relations were cut after widespread strikes occurred.

Also to add, UKR telegram channel claims they used medium range SAMs to defeat some S-136 which is probably true. They do not understand that these are not Bayrakdar TB2's. These are mass expendable suicide UAVs. Using 150,000$ BUK-M1 Interceptors to intercept UAVs which are probably less than $20k. God forbid (for their sake) they used AIM-120 from NASAMS which cost 1.2 million $ with high production times.

Expect 100s of these to get down over the course of the next 6 months, expect many more get through as the attrition affects UKR air defence interceptors. We've seen this story before with Saudi PAC AD running out of missiles, then they announced a ceasefire.

RUSSIA’S GERANIUM-2 UAVS HIT TARGETS IN ODESSA

On September 23, Russian Geran-2 UAVs hit several targets in the city of Odessa. Ukrainian forces attempted to intercept drones with small arms, but failed. The Ukrainian military aircraft were also reportedly deployed to hunt for the UAVs but in vain.

In the afternoon, citizens of Odessa shared numerous videos showing Russian UAVs hitting Ukrainian military facilities in the city. The eyewitnesses reported that the air alarm was not turned on in the city.

At least one of the kamikaze UAVs struck Ukrainian facilities near the city port. Judging by the video, the drone hit a building on Primorskaya Street, 34 in the area of the city port. Units of the 35th and 36th brigades of the AFU Marines are reportedly located in this area. Local sources report that several ambulances arrived in the hit area.

Explosions were also reported in other districts of Odessa.

Russia's Geranium-2 UAVs Hit Targets In Odessa

Ukrainian sources reported that one of the targets of the attack was a gas station in one of the Odessa districts. However, the reports were later refuted. The incident was caused by a damaged gas cylinder.

The Geranium-2 UAVs were recently deployed by the Russian military in Ukraine but they have already proved their efficiency. The Russian military is using Iranian-made Shahed-136 suicide drone, repainted in Russian colors and rebranded as Geranium-2,

The Shahed-136 has a range of more than 2,500 kilometers and can be armed with a warhead weighting around 50 kilograms. The drone is guided by a satellite-aided inertial navigation system. According to The Wall Street Journal report, the drone has high resistance to jamming.

The introduction of longer-range suicide drones similar to the Shahed-136 makes the situation worse for Ukrainian forces. Just in the last few days, Geranium-2s were used against the Ukrainian military objects in Ochakov and Krivoy Rog, as evidenced by the Ukrainian side. They have also destroyed foreign artillery systems in the Kharkov region.
