What's new

JF-17 Thunder Block-II - A Beast in making.

So, if I am not inflating the balloon too much, can the Block II carry like 8 BVR and like 6 WVR, with no other weapons? So that it can become an escort for fighters who are acting like bombers?? (Remember, there was still lots of weight left even with 8 air-to-air missiles on)

If yes, then that's incredible! Guys, just picture the JF-17 Block II bringing down 4 planes in BVR, saying that one missile gets jammed/intercepted/blocked and the other hits the target. Even if you want to stretch the hypothetical situation, 2 jets down with 4 BVR missiles each isn't bad. Right Horus?

By the way, I see that you have seen "Kingdom Of Heaven", but why put up a Christian quote?? We have Muslim ones that are even better! :undecided:
You can't put all the eggs in one basket.

8 sd-10 that's a lot of money plus 6 pl-9 man. One more thing these missiles are not 100 mm in diameter and that's it no check the sd-10 with it's wings that's a lot of space while your jf-17 is small.

Standard configuration is 2X SD-10A and 2X PL-5EII/AIM-9L/M Sidewinders with 3 drop tanks.

So, if we drop the drop tanks (pun intended), can we put like 8 BVR and say 4 WVR missiles, on dual racks I mean.

F-22 comes with 6 BVR and 2 or 4 WVR and that's because its in the internal bay. If they can do it, inside, why can't we do it outside? Also, there won't be a single jet vs like 10 enemy jets. The reason I say 8 BVR and so on is because this will give us a better killing chance. I wish that every Block II be capable of this missile combo and it can be.

Moneys not a problem with these jets, we got to Block II, so we can get a few hundred missiles too. Also, 2 missiles can be put on dual racks and that would make 4 hard points out of 7. When in dual-racks, missiles are next to each other and if it's possible to have 4 sd-10 why not 8???

So, 4 hard points down, the remaining 3 can host 2 WVR missile each. Making the number come to 8 BVR and 6 WVR. This is me stretching this situation but I think its possible. Is it Horus?

We can have a combo of 6 BVR and 4 WVR, if that's what you want Malik. ;)

Thunder block 2 project is appreciated. But when it becomes completely operational, block 1 will be upgraded for same standards or grounded?

There is no "block I" for JF-17s...

ALL JF-17s would be upgraded to the level of block-II according to PAF commander in charge for JF-17 program.

The starting level of JF-17s would be JF-17 block II level...

grounded ? why Jf-17 Block-1 should be grounded when J-7P are still in service.......

My friend there is no comparison between f-22 and the jf-17 as you know when the american decided to arm the f-22 with 6 wvr that's because they believe it will use them all without getting locked on. But once they realize that the world start using more 5th gen fighters or the stealth tech is not stealth any more then they will go back to the 4 + 4.

but you don't go to war with "clean" f16's, do you?
No...We do not.

This...

...Is an RCS nightmare.

Unless you enclose everything in a streamline container, it does not matter if your clean jet is 1m2 or even lower. A pair of Sidewinders may be tolerable, but also add on AIM-120s under each wing and the F-16 will be visible to most adversary radars under normal conditions.

We discussed a 'stealthy' version of the JF-17 before and it went nowhere. A clean JF-17 is just as useful as a clean F-16.

when a society pretense much as they got aristocracy through copying the others, they must shitted on. pouring money to build an army is not only the way to be a conqueror, need some gut to face from front. walking in vague and stabbing from behind, the sign of cowards........
16 Indian Soldiers Are Victims in Bangladesh Border Skirmish.png

in case of atheist, nothing to say but nature answers in its own way to illegal invaders!!

I think the new upgrades needs to focus more on reducing the JF-17's RCS , to reach an RCS close to that of the the F-16 , which is about 1 square meters , if it happened, the JF-17 will be considered stealth jets compared to the huge RCS of the Indian Air force jets , 10-15 square meters for Mig-29's , and 7-10 square meters for Su-30's.

i think its much important to reduce rcs, hence its all about to score in the sky and attack on surface additionally with anti-radiation attack capability, for a true multi-role fighter. isn't it? :undecided:

i think there could be some squadrons for heavily intended for air-superiority role of Thunders, but its no need to weaponize a fighter heavily with a bounty of AAMs while its an all-aspect multi-role fighter.....

all in service block-I will be upgraded to block-II standard, when completing manufacturing of block-II machines.... i heard/read this from various defense blogs.
