JF-17 Thunder Multirole Fighter [Thread 7]

How would i know that sir
You are not talking logically, first block-3 using more powerful engine to power AESA, more composite material, IRST,etc etc, and tell me that why your next version of Tejas (MK-1A) uses all different tech from MK-1, please explain @Aryeih Leib

There is rumor of a Block-2+ variant, initially raised by Azerbaijan purchase speculation but now it is for PAF as well.

Since Block-3 will have a different engine and major internal changes which wont be feasible for upgrading on previous model. Block-2+ would be a block-2 JF-17 with an air cooled AESA radar which China claims is a bolt to bolt replacement as well as other electronic and minor upgrades.
The power consumption of the radar is low enough for existing system but with greatly enhanced capability.
For AA combat paired with updated, PL-10, SD-10s and PL-15s these will be able to stand their ground against even Rafaels. Also will be able to guide 4 missiles at a time so we might see Block-2+ with multi missile rails.
So even the existing fleet will pack more punch.

There is no new engine neither any "major" internal or external changes.

RD-93MA or WS-13E both are up rated versions of existing plant. Wait for the RD-93MA is one of the reasons for delay. As for internal changes, will be structural strength and weight mitigation measures to compensate for the new radar and more internal fuel.

There are no major internal changes. Yes, there is a new engine. Yes, it is under testing. Yes, it is specifically designed to replace jf17 existing engines as their life is about to end. More engines can not be procured from russia because of sanctions. So Pakistan is looking for a substitute in order to move away from this dependency. Hence that new engine is meant for all blocks (1,2,3)

Sir that means new engine won't come until 2023 or even 2025
???

Engine is already ready with Chinese. PAF is evaluating it right now on jf17s in order to have exact life expectancy. You may expect them to replace existing ageing engines sooner than later as sending engines to russia for overhaul costs a lot.

If outer dimensions remain the same then rd93ma can definitely fit in. Mind u thunders were developed with an open architecture and thus an engine and avionics were not tied up. A few valied members have shown pictures of the airframe and engine having minor to minute gap or loose fitting, if i may use this layman terms.
If rd93ma is an upgradation of rd93 with basic architecture, dimensions remaining the same while having fadec or mtbo improving then why wouldnt we order all newer engines as rd93ma? In a decade we can end up with all old blocks switched to rd93ma which wud make further upgradation or addition of avionics possible too.
